Great app, made better
I have been using NP for years, every day, and find it really really useful. I use for taking notes during seminars and workshops, outlining manuscripts and grant applications, taking minutes and many other things. Being able to integrate sketches, photos, screenshots and text from other apps and annotating them makes the app particularly handy. So is the great system of folders and notebooks, which makes keeping notes organized really easy. Once in a while I tested similar apps just to compare and always went back to NP, as it is by far the one that works best for me. NP X has some really nice features, some had been on my wish list for a while. A major bonus, the NP team responds to questions very fast and always in a helpful way. THANK YOU!Show lessPurpleGarnet
ONLY USES ICLOUD
Developer is aware that only iCloud works - do not trust the statement that any cloud service works. I bought this to use with OneDrive. Their response below:

We found out the issue of Notes Plus X by using other clouds (Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.) except iCloud. We're currently working hard to find a better solution for that issue and hopefully, we could release the support to other clouds in the next version 1.2Show lessDylanInAus

I am a long time user of Notes Plus. Notes Plus is and has always been an excellent writing app. Notes Plus is a feature rich app, all of the features are useful. The feature that is most useful to me is the ability to use the “IN APP BROWSER” The “IN APP BROWSER” helped me with taking notes from text books, without having to carry the actual text book. Viet Tran, you have to put this feature back in, or, continue to support Notes Plus, along with all the other features of Notes Plus. Also the file structure of notes plus x is no good, the file structure of Notes Plus allowed more security, and is self contained. Man, Notes Plus is an excellent app, but notes plus x is a down-grade from Notes Plus. I did purchase notes plus x, however i will still use Notes Plus until the breaks fall off. Viet Tran, at this point i’m giving notes plus x a zero star rating if i can.Show less001lb
Horrible Changes from Original
I have used Notes Plus for many years and I could not despise this version more. This app is much buggier, with less functionality and significantly reduced ease of use. Hopefully these things will be changed but as it stands I am beyond disappointed in this change, and it seems I will have to be searching for a new writing app if they stop updating the original.Show lessabbyw3196

I dont often do reviews for apps. I am in graduate school and this app I absolutely love. It flows beautifully and you can zoom in and out easily. You also can annotate any PDF while still being able to use all the features the app has to offer. Different styles of pen each with a uniqueness and purpose. Pen color options and fill options are great and no part of the app is overkill with options. You have enough options to choose any style you’d like while not getting lost in options.Show lessCrash213
Best notes app
I have been using the iPad + pencil for years and have just about all of the note apps that use the pencil. Of all those apps, I always preferred Notes Plus. For one thing its zoom (closeup) is much better implemented than in other apps, and for another, things I write in Notes Plus have always looked far more elegant than other apps. Using NP, the things I write change from chicken scrawl to (almost) calligraphy — they are far more elegant. Unfortunately, NP became difficult to use because it was buggy and had trouble saving files. I have been using Notes Plus X, which has been entirely written in Swift, for several days now and am extremely pleased. The issues with NP have been solved, and there is now a version of the program that will be easily updated and works extremely well. The documentation is still scanty, but obviously that will be fixed. Meanwhile, be sure to use a 2-finger tap for pasting and closeup. This is an enormous improvement over the older NP and makes NPX the best of all the drawing/pencil-writing apps in my opinion.Show lessGLLH

I’ve used the new Notes Plus app for a few days now, and the writing is very smooth. The new technology incorporated into the handwriting is terrific. It doesn’t lag or get choppy like the old app. I use it daily on the iPad in split view 50/50 where it works great for having the left side for reading material while taking notes on the right side.
The developer, Viet Tran, is also very responsive to comments and email suggestions for improvements. Their team is constantly making improvements and will often make those based on user input.Show lessDills8
Much Faster & Smoother
I have used NotesPlus for years, but it had started to slow down on my 3rd generation iPad. NotePlus X is smooth and fast.
I have not had the problems with upgrading that other users have reported—I have no file corruption that I can find. As I am getting used to the new framework I’m finding that I need a user guide to help me understand some of the differences. If there is a user guide available I would love to see itShow lessBleaner
Corrupts old files
I am a heavy user of notes plus, and rely on it heavily for my work. I “upgraded” to notes plus X. While I could get used to the new interface and redesigned file system, when I was importing my old notes plus files to the new program, all of them became corrupted, with the first one or two or three pages of each file lost. This new version is a huge disappointment and a colossal waste of money. Don’t do it.Show lessCod in Heaven
Nice update
Im not understanding the bad reviews. I tried it, and it feels much smoother, and has a far better UI. It’s more user friendly now as well, and looks more pleasing. Has some extra features too. It’s my 1st day with the new app, will update my review a little bit into this semester. Hope they update this frequently! Really love the easy file transfer too.Show lessRubbertoe3213
