Don’t waste your money
Information and data is always inaccurate. Always has drastically different values on the Apple Watch and iphone.
Also doesn’t consider sleep even though it says it does.
Graphs and data they present are not very well explained/ very disorganized

Worth paying for
If you’re an aspiring athlete or someone who just wants to maximise their gains without pushing through the negative effects of over training this is perfect.
When you pay for it you can increase your tolerance and I’ve found the sweet spot. I now know when I can push my body and when not too.
Being the best and fittest version of yourself unfortunately isn’t as simple as training as hard as you possibly can whenever you can and as much as you can.
Have shared this app with so many friends! I should be an ambassador haha

It’s a gimmick
I should have trialed it for a month first, instead of buying it outright. Gives completely random readings, not in anyway related to activities I engage in, nor validates how I feel. I visit the gym regularly and often have a good sense of what my body is going to do before I even start a set. The app shows numbers on my Apple Watch irrelevant to levels of energy on any given day. Too bad; could have been a great app if it worked.

Response from developer
The app is based on using HRV data collected from Apple Watch with a approach validated by thousands of users. However we understand that sometimes results can be misleading for some users and we would be more than happy to explore your results either way you via support@trainingtodayapp.com if you wish to
Great Tool
I’ve started using Training Today in conjunction with the 80/20 zone 2 training methodology for my cycling. The two work very well together. The 80/20 zone 2 methodology means you train 80% of the time at your zone 2 cardio rate, and 20% at your zone 4/5 cardio rate going all out.
For example, in a 7 day period, you spend four days in zone 2, and 1 day in zones 4/5. In a week’s time, that allows 2 recovery days. I use the Training Today as a guide to see how hard to train. For example, if it has a medium Heart Rate Variability (HRV) score of 5, I’ll train in zone 2 and bike about 30 miles. If the HRV score is 0, I can take a rest day or just bike 15 miles in zone 1. I’ll also make sure there is a rest day before the zones 4/5 push and the HRV score is high enough. Remember zone 2 means endurance training, if you stay in zone 2 for a few hours, you’ll be very tired and the HRV score will show it afterwards.
The main reason I like Training Today is the way they bound your HRV data into a range between 0 to 10, that’s because everyone’s HRV range is different, and that range can change as you train over a long period. I’ve also found the HRV read out is quite in tune with what I did during the training. One important thing to remember is Training Today needs to keep track of your HRV over a period (e.g. 1 month) in order to calibrate the range, that’s because your HRV of 30ms is different from my HRV of the same value. Give the app a try, it’s well worth it.

Be careful- it’s not great
The app works well enough but is no where near as accurate as something provided by just owning a whoop band or aura ring. Besides this though, the insights it provides are lack luster at best, and really don’t paint an accurate picture- for the cost of the subscription, its more with it to understand your hrv on your own in the health app. Separately, this company ended up scamming original backers of this app- after purchasing the pro version, my old access to the “advanced” graphs was revoked and I’m being asked to pay significantly more than I did before to regain access I paid for. Overall, skip this app, and I wish the developers didn’t scam all those who gave them a chance years ago and bought their pro version when it came out.

Limited functionality & badly designed watch complications
‘Training today’ utilises a HRV function, but it fails to meet my expectations this is because I don’t find the HRV accurate.
I also think the Watch complication is poorly designed, the font is poor and it is poorly positioned in the Watch UI.
Overall the app’s functionality is limited and while a core component is released it is, to my mind still very much in development. Maybe this will improve in time but right now there’s so much better technology.
Instead I purchased Athlytic it has many more features, much better designed watch complications and a much more accurate HRV monitor.
The HRV function is key to my training and given that’s the intention of the app, I cannot recommend this app based on function as well as aesthetics.

Very helpful
This app measures HRV and heart rate, as well as giving an estimate of the intensity of exercise.
It does all of this very well. I find it very easy to see the history of how these numbers have changed over time making any changes is health & stress levels clear to see.
This information is available elsewhere on Apple health, but nowhere near as easy to see the trends as it is on the training today app.
I paid for the subscription which I feel was worth every penny. Very pleased with this app.

Great app, but…
…the Apple Watch complication doesn’t update unless I press it to open the Watch app. Seems a shame. If this was fixed I’d give it five stars.
Super app!
I have been using this for a year or so now, it gives me all the feedback I need. It makes sense of all the data the Apple Watch supplies.
I had an issue with the app on the Apple Watch but the support team are quick to sort out any issues and went the extra mile! Thanks to Ian in support for helping me out👍
