Unimpressed

Recent improvements have made it easier to use but its use is so limited that’s not difficult.
In terms of my EV system, the control it provides is pointless. Settings don’t stick and you can’t set up any intelligent charging other than the simplest function.
Income data is irrelevant in the uk - why can’t this be updated?
Also the app signs you out every day and you have ‘accept the T&Cs’ and sign in every time. Why??
This app has put me off using Fox Ev battery and inverter equipment in future.

Barely usable

The only thing going for it is that it's better than the V2 app. Which is a very low bar. This is over complicated, with a weird sequence of button presses just to get to the pages that show how much solar we're generating and power we're buying. And even that is strange. It seems to log out automatically but without telling us, then still continues to show the display as it had been previously-possible the night before, even- so it could show zero at midday until you log in again. Two stars- it just about works and is better than V2

Good tool

Provides useful information provided you remember that each set of readings is an instantaneous snapshot taken at 5 minute intervals and that each of the values typically includes about 10-30 watts consumed by each component. Because of the way hybrid systems work, constantly switching the loads and charging power often every fee seconds, if the data snapshot is captured during one of these load switching cycles they can appear meaningless. When the data over half an hour or so is viewed these effects are averaged out. For the more experienced it can be integrated with Home Assistant and used to automate overnight charging based on solar prediction.

Good but could be better

Ideally if grid or load data could be done in a future upgrade that would be good. It would definitely help with EV charging during the day to ensure you are not pulling power from the grid. I can turn the amperage down in my Tesla app for charging and 26amps seems the right balance on a good sunny day instead of maxing it out at 32amps where it was pulling about 35% from the grid.

Give us some basic controls!

The app is fine (but not good) if you want to see stats about how much energy you are generating. If you want to set up your system to save on energy bills, then there are no features for that. You can’t tell it when your off peak tariff is. You can set up your battery to charge from the grid in a defined window, but if you want to run appliances or charge a car overnight then that will simply empty the battery and you’ll be running on peak rate electricity all day. How about a simple setting to protect the battery overnight so that you can draw from the grid when electricity is cheap and have a full battery for peak hours?

Logout

Not a good app. Logs you out and you need to log back in every time you refresh it. Gives you input data, but does not give load or grid data.

Poor user interface - again.

Where to start…

This latest update has turned a poorly designed/written app into a user friendly nightmare.

Clearly an app written by engineers without non-engineer users in mind.

Shockingly bad.

Adequate and informative

Not much to say here, the app works well, shows the stats in an easy to access fashion, provides real time view.

One thing I’d like to ask to improve is the regular automatic logout. Ideally I’d like the app to stay logged in for at least a week. Currently I have to login every day.

Very good

I had solar plus FoxESS inverter and battery storage installed early last year. Very pleased with the installation (carried out by others). The App is very useful - providing one is aware that the energy flows are measured by current transformers, and flow to or from the grid is not measured by the energy suppliers meter. It’s a shame that I don’t seem to be able to set a tariff to see more accurate figures on savings in energy costs but this is minor and my energy bills tell the story. Overall, very happy. This, together with my EV charger and an energy supplier’s App give a pretty good picture of what’s happening with my electricity supply and enable a degree of optimisation using an off peak tariff.

Gives great, easy to read info, but….

Love the animated info screen that shows :
How much power is coming off the roof and where it’s going, eg 2.5kw being generated by the panels. 0.5kw running the house, 2 kw going to the batteries (or back to the grid if batteries are full). I also have solar at work with a different inverter (and therefore different app) and this one is far better and provides more info in an easier to read format, BUT…

It takes 7, yes SEVEN clicks to open the app and get to that info page!!! Infuriating when you just want a quick check on what’s going on!!
