Stay logged in for longer and take us back to where we were

I do like the FoxEss App but how can we make it so we stay logged in?
It asks me to login again every 6 hours. Even though I like to check on the app several times a day I always have to login two to three times everyday.
After logging it does not take me back to Real Time Data where I was but rather back to the very first screen. I have to click in 7 different places to navigate back to Real Time Data and this happens 3 times a day. Please can you fix this.

Terrible app. Untrustworthy

Unreliable app only connects to system one in every 20+ times you open and shut down the app.

Untrustworthy data - my app sometimes gives me data for a BN41 postcode (and it gave me the address and name of the system owner) instead of my own and I am in a CV postcode. Sure there is a breach of something there.

It’s awful, don’t trust the app, I would get a different inverter / solar system altogether if it wasn’t so expensive to replace spent a fortune on the battery and inverter and this poxy app spoils it all. Shame on the service provider and shame on the company installing the system for recommending it, it is truly a steaming pile of horse manure.

I wouldn’t pay these people in peanuts and would not trust them with any of my data again.

Going to bin this app off and forget I have the system installed and just hope for the best that I keep my electric bills down and the Solar keeps working.

Whoever runs this app needs to get their act together and service their customers better.

What an utter disgrace this company is !

Buy a different brand solar inverter

Had the system less than a week, the app data is inaccurate and large chunks of generation data are just… missing. Whenever I try to raise a call ticket through the app it times out - almost like the developers aren’t interested in helping out all.
I would advise anyone looking at a solar installation to request that an inverter not manufactured by Fox is installed. This inverter has left me with no way to view what I’m generating or estimate payback time. I also have huge questions over the reliability of the inverter given the poor quality of the data in the app.

App is non existent

App not functioning. During load shedding cannot see house power Now app unavailable alert on app states server in critical maintenance giving a time and date for 2022!!!!!

App is buggy. Updates seem to disable features

App is buggy. Since they updated, I can’t see solar power or house power load when there is a loadshedding. It also now shows I’m on 110v - which is wrong as we use 240v

Truly deserves its poor reviews

I can’t imagine a way to make this app worse. It’s clunky and poorly designed, and the information it provides (when you can finally find it) is near useless. Let me walk you through the process to check your battery level:

1) Open the app and log in (it logs you out every time)
2) Tap “my sites” at the bottom
3) Tap on your site in the list
4) Tap on “device” at the bottom
5) Tap on your device on the list
6) Tap “battery” at the bottom.
7) Congratulations, you now know your charge level.

Is there really any need to bury this basic information so far down inside the app?

On top of that, the app DOES NOT TELL YOU YOUR SOLAR YIELD. That’s right, the solar panel monitoring all does not tell you your solar yield. Instead, you get a total yield of solar panels plus any energy taken from the battery, a figure that is essentially useless.

The user interface itself is reasonably clean and responsive, but the layout is just abysmal.

Please, FoxESS, sort this out!

Terrible App

Updated again…. Meaningless info! The one thing we all want to know is how much power is generated by the sun. To include my overnight charging of the battery using cheap rate from the grid in the “yield” is ridiculous. I still do not know how much money I am saving using the solar, having invested ££££s. Also on occasions I see my battery feeding back to the grid - Why? Where is the No star button. This app is the winner of the worst app ever written!

Updated…. The new update is hopeless. Intermittent info and the animation now makes no sense. The numbers don’t add up. Where is my power going? Why is my power suddenly coming from the grid when there is power in the battery? Worse than hopeless!! I notice too that despite giving the hours for charging to battery from the grid for some kind of battery management, the grid is feeding the battery during my expensive tariff instead of overnight when it is cheaper, thus actually costing more. Useless app!

Clunky and inconsistent

The app is very inconsistent in the data that is being displayed. It frequently displays different battery charge compared with the Inverter info. It has ‘lost’ half of the generated energy stats (and financial info) in the last few days and random bars are shown 12 months in the future which is odd and undermines confidence.

The app needs a full User Interface rewrite. It needs to simply display current energy being generated, flows into the system, cumulative totals and expected repayment period for system install. Recommend removing the multiple similar screens and longwinded navigation, especially when screens and data are similar in multiple locations. Settings should be located in one place and the system should be enhanced to have a more robust connection between equipment and wifi. An option for hardwired connectivity would also be welcome.

Lots of promise but needs some good UX design to be implemented.

Not very reliable

We have had our Fox system for approx. 4 weeks and in that time the app has not worked on two occasions and has currently been offline for a day with no update or means of getting information from the developers. The app itself is clunky, you have to go through multiple screens to get refreshed data on your equipment. When you do get to the information it is not easy to interpret. On the whole the app needs to be redesigned giving the end user a much cleaner interface with more control of the data.

One of the worst apps I’ve used

Not sure who the end user was they had in mind when building this app but it’s not Joe Public sat at home wanting to figure out if his investment was worthwhile.

The terminology is confusing (what the hell is Yield), battery and solar data is not split out correctly, it takes about 10 random button pushes just to get my system (most people only have one but the app seems to be for installers and caters for many).

Data logging and ability to export it is not available (or I can’t find it).

Control of battery charging again uses confusing meaningless language and the help options are empty. No option for a regular user to set the max grid charge levels ( I have to go to the inverter in the garage to do that). No option to force discharge.

The hardware seems ok, the app is useless. I gave up and built my own in Home Assistant.

Get someone to build an App their mum could use with minimal instruction and you might have something that caters to regular end users
