Excellent recap of driving history and habits!

It’s like a recording of your driving history and habits! The SmartRide app is an excellent recap of your driving habits, including an actual road map of each trip for each trip including distances and times traveled. Since I drive so few miles each year, I’m looking forward to the prospect of a discount, especially since premiums have risen so fast over the last few years. I have enjoyed having the detail information provided on daily and weekly activity.

Great teaching tool

I enjoy the app and check after most trips. I drive defensively so looking ahead and expecting something to happened have prevented many possible accidents. The only issue I have is the phone distraction part. You are not dinged but I never actually touch my phone but there are times it reports I do. I use buttons on the steering wheel to answer or make calls and my car touch screen only at lights.

Saving is believing

The app is fun and most of all it will save money!! I’ve been with nationwide for atleast twenty yrs in total these people are the best at what they do!!! These people sent this app to me and just like that i started saving money, best of all i like about this app when it sends in a report when its completed as of today it will save me a additional 40% on my insurance bill !! I don't think theres a competitor company that can do better !!! The only issue i found was in its speed reporting , either the app or my truck is off i had cruise control on at 68 it said i was doing 78 . Minor issue for a great app , since i was only over posted limit by 3 miles a hr i wont fuss , but now i have to run some test on my truck to see !! I hope all good drivers with clean records get the opportunity to try this app and save money with it !!! I think this will make a great teaching aid for new drivers once speed thing is corrected !!!

A little addictive

Less than a month into using this app. I check it after every trip. And am always thinking about big brother looking over my shoulder. That is both good and bad. There are times when rapid acceleration OR hard breaking can be great but if I hesitate even for a blink of an eye, thinking about what that would do to my score, could be catastrophic. What are the tolerances of this app? As the saying goes “great could be the enemy of the good” LOL!

SmartRide

Makes me more conscious of my driving habits. A little concerned that it does not allow for certain circumstances. For instance, hardbraking is recorded, and there’s no way to comment if the hardbraking is due, for instance, to a child suddenly darting into the road. Also, every use of my phone is recorded as a distraction, even if I am just the passenger. There is an override for that, but I find that if I don’t check after every trip, i’m hard-pressed to remember whether I used the phone or not and whether or not I was a passenger.

App dislike

The only thing I don’t like is the distracted driver sensor. When I plug my phone into the USB Port in my car it uses voice response for text, dialing, text response and music selection. The app thinks I’m handling my phone. Or if my wife is in the car and she picks up my phone to use a restaurant app to place an order while I’m driving, it thinks I’m using my phone while driving distracted. That the only down side I see at this time.

Phone Disturbance??

If your waiting In line at drug store in the drive through and you play a game on your phone while waiting. That shouldn’t be a disturbance. I’m not driving and on my phone. Or in the drive through picking up a Pizza. It should only show. If your on your phone when the car is moving. Don’t you think so ????

Review

I really drive much anymore and being with this company I’m not penalized for that.
Also, y’all helped me when my caregiver stolen my diamond pendant. The only thing that I wasn’t happy with, is my pendant was worth over $6,000. Y’all sent me $1,000.
I’m grateful truly I am. And I know that’s not how it works. And for that I’m truly grateful.

SmartRide review for Kevin

This is the first time I’ve used the SmartRide app and it’s working well. The only problem is the hard braking fault is a little too touchy. I got one on the ramp for 70 at Lover exit when a truck pulled back into to slow lane and I took my foot off the gas and slowed down and one stopping at little Joeys. It didn’t seem like I did anything to get the hard braking fault. But it’s been pretty good besides that.
