  • NO Help

I downloaded this app to read my text book for school, but since the pages are scanned into PDF format the app can do nothing for me. Very disappointing.
  • Best free App

Seriously, download this is you don’t want to play for audiobooks! This app isn’t perfect, but it’s soo awesome I’m actually taking time to write this review!!! You’ll thank me later 😋
  • cost

I thought it was a one time fee of $10 dollars as mention in someones review, I don't want to be paying for a on going subscription base.
  • Rare instances of speech malfunction & issues changes the voice

During the second usage of the app., the program was skipping words. Also, either I cannot change the readers voice, or the task is far too complex.

    Developer Response

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. To change the voice, click the settings tab on the bottom of the screen. Also, the new version allows you to change the voice from within an open PDF (click the menu on the bottom right then right click the voice you want to change.) As for skipping words, please send a copy of the pdf to contact@weboutloud.io with instructions on how to reproduce the issue and we’ll look into it. Thank you!
  • Pretty good

This is good if your pdf is not a photo. Does not work on photos in pdf.
  • laggy

i press play and the whole thing closes out
  • It reads unprintable characters

To the developers, how do I get it to filter un printable characters that are part of the PDF?
  • Excellent way to "read" PDF's.

I have really enjoyed using TTS in the last few weeks to help me get through some readings for University. Not just readings but so far in a month I have "read" two text books that have been sitting on my shleves for years.

I really like that TTS can accept a PDF to read, but it's presented as the original PDF is submitted - it doesn't OCR is and turn it into a messy text document with no formatting. Makes it very easy to read along with. Or as I have been doing - have TTS "read" on my Mac while following along and making notes on the original PDF on my iPad.

I'd like it to have Folders to help organise things - I can see it getting a bit messy to find things later but only because I will be using it so much.

  • Very Few Mistakes

Much better than speechify! It does not make nearly as many mistakes, but it still needs some work. Waatch the screen because it might skip whole paragraphs!
  • Was helpful until it wasn’t

I have a lot of required readings for my coursework so being able to upload them here and have it read to me on my commute to work everyday was beneficial. Of course there were flaws because there is a paid version of it as well. I thought though that this was version was free. In between pausing and starting readings or jumping past tables and charts I would get the pop up to upgrade. Now it won’t play at all and just beeps at me when I press the play button. Almost as if this was a trial only and you have to upgrade to continue to use it. The information that I saw was not clear that was the case otherwise I never would have downloaded it. I do not need all the bells and whistles included in the upgrade. I just need it to read the text that is all!

You said it just beeps at you. This could be that there was no text detected in a particular PDF. There are a lot of PDFs out there that contain scanned images of text but no digital text for the app to read.
