Fun and Focused on the Game
I started playing this game through a rewards app, and it’s probably going to be one of the few I keep. I never really thought merge games could be fun since it seems so simple, but I’ve had my mind changed! It’s more relaxing than about crazy strategy or skill but that’s been pretty ok actually. What I really like is that it’s one of few free games these days that actually feels like a GAME and not just an excuse to milk you for ad revenue or micro transactions. These things are available and I do watch some ads, but it’s not an egregious amount (games which play an ad after you accomplish literally anything I’m side-eyeing you) and the in game currency accumulates well enough to not feel like you’re always running out and needing to spend real money. There are some FOMO events which I’m pretty sure are designed to try to get you to drain your in game currency (get these really advanced matches within 2-4hrs for a big payoff, very hard to make happen and almost never worth it) but if you just ignore them the game play isn’t badly impacted
In addition to the basic matching gameplay, there’s a plot and character relationships on your island, daily goals, which while hard to get through all of them have very good mid-tier rewards along the way, as well as mini-challenges, card collecting, and holiday specialty missions (my favorite since you get to play more of the actual game). For the moment, this is the game I’m most drawn to picking up!
