Do not Buy this Libra 3 if you own iPhone

Good concept bad application irresponsible manufacturer. If it was possible I would have given -5 ⭐️ to this company and product support. Abbott doesn’t care for the end user!!!! I have been using Libra, Libre 14, Libre 2 and now Libre3 since Libre3 came out it worked fine on my iPhone 1 ProMax until Apple updated iOS to 16.3+ this app stopped working. I had made several calls to tech support they suggested switch off auto updates of iOS which I did they said app will not support any iOS over 16.0 to which they said downgrade your iOS I checked with Apple and AT&T they said there is no provision in iOS of downgrading the version. So I was forced to use my iPhone X with iOS 15.3 which worked until this morning that my iPhone / iOS is not compatible with Libre3 app. I called Abbott for this issue they said if I update to iOS 16.7 which is next update available to me it app will not work I have bought 90 days of sensors 6 pcs in cash as insurance will not cover this. I have been carrying 2 phones everywhere but I tried to have faith in Abbott to come up with update but we are still same place with Libre3 app after a year. As owner of iPhone would you use this product. I will let media investigate this. Thank you.

Misleading

During my vacation I had this all next 14 days and they asked me to be connected on cellular network! I let it do it, but I didn’t release, thay lower my glucose reading for 50 points! I tought I was doing fine I was bit releaxed, but in reality I was always 150 or 160! It leads my straight to diabetes! It’s criminal behavior and it shouldn’t be done like this, playing with my health and I paid this sensor for $98 to fool me like that! When I got from vacation back I checked it out with my strips and showed me things I should concern! It’s really bad, bad, bad things they did it! I never ever going to buy and use this CGM again! I have one more sensor left and I don’t know if I going to use it or not, I know it’s going to misinform me… UPDATE After they give me phone number! I try it but all phone in US worked perfectly, but as soon as they connect me to some outer country, I couldn’t hear their voice or they just hung up on me! Horrible!
Guys don’t buy this CGM, don’t waste your many on something It’s doing set up your reading regardless of your actual reading! I find out more these apps and a lot cheaper, half price of dis one!
Do your homework and try search for better one and cheaper one!

Second Impression

Starting to appreciate the value of the app.
First impression was not good, couple items still need to be fixed upon first sensor application (first few hours) BUT after using for about a week now along side the physical reader of the older model I am appreciating the benefits of the app.
1. Just learned the difference between custom and standard alerts WITHOUT Override. Recommend NOT having Override on for standard low blood sugars because it forces an audible alert. This was NOT INTUITIVE for me. I was hearing too many alerts that all sounded the same. When I turned Override OFF for standard first warning of low it only vibrated which is GOOD to help me know a low is coming. THEN when really low is occurring I get the obnoxious audible alarm which can be life saving.
2. Also NOT INTUITIVE, my phone HAS to be plugged in at all times to stay charged. Because if my phone does so does the meter. Which is different than the physical meter. Battery life on my phone is really bad, so it does often. Physical reader battery life was about a week. My phone battery maybe last half a day if it is on without charging. Not optimal but also not a deal breaker. Just recommend all users realize you HAVE to keep your phone charged or meter is dead too. No phone no meter. Which is slightly a negative.

Lacking Health Integration

This app would be so much better if detailed data points were available. It’s strange that the LibreLink app has the capability to slide over the graph to get individual readings, but the main app does not. (I downloaded it as a workaround) Although the LibreLink app may allow you to do this, but does not have historical data, so you can only see one day at a time. So currently there’s no way to really analyze past spikes or drops. I was hoping that this would also integrate into Apple Health, but it does not, which is incredible disappointing. If the app could integrate with Apple Health, then the data would at least be visible from there without any major changes to the Libre app. I’ve also had situations where I get alarms for specific levels, and go back and they are not indicated on the graph at all. For instance, I had 4-5 low alarms over night once, but when I woke up in the morning, the graph never showed my levels going below 75 at all. I’ve had the same experience with some higher levels as well—the data I see in the moment is altered when I go to look at it later. I’m not sure why this is.

Pleas update to like first libre!!!

My husband had the first libre and he was able to touch the graph on the screen and check what his numbers were while he was sleeping so great, why would you take it away in the upgraded versions? Now I have gestational diabetes, and have the libre 3, as well as my husband. I only got it because I saw how easy he could check his numbers with the libre instead of pricking my finger all the time. Now sometimes my doctor wants me to check what my numbers were at 3 am but I figured since the sensor had continuous reading I could just tap the screen after I got up in the morning like my husband used to. We found out that is no longer an option. We have to log everything on our own!! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!! The sensor is making my life easier in one way but harder in another it’s like I have to do a lot of the work and that I thought I was getting away from with the manual machine. Also, the alarms don’t seem to work for iPhone 14 or 15 models which my husband and I have. Please update the software and it would be so great for a lot of people.

Doesn’t work with iOS 17 v2 or v3

Doesn’t work with iPhone 12 Pro with iOS v17.0.2 or 17.0.3 Stuck at critical alerts when the option isn’t available. —-- update- I had to uninstall the app even thought I had a sensor running. Happily I was able to reinstall and log back in. When I logged back in - unlike v2- it asked for notification permission then it showed up in notifications and I could turn on critical notifications. It also imported my sensor from the login and I was able to see it again. ——However anyone linked to it via their other connected app no longer get alerts on sugar levels. I assume they will need to unlink and relink. ——Developer: please update the app to trigger a “ask for permission for notifications “ button or something from your critical alerts are required screen because iOS 17v2+ breaks the app if notification settings are reset.——also is it I can see my history using Libre connect but can’t scroll the line in this version?

Poor graph

Update: though I still believe the ability to see a close up of the graph is very important in increasing my low score to a 4 because I love this device and though I can’t see specific spikes like I would love to see it has been instrumental in controlling my diabetes better. I have been able to lower my A1c from 6.6 to 6.0 in the course of a few months by changing my diet significantly. I no longer feel controlled by cravings or the need to have desserts or sweet drinks and carbs.
I really believe this device should be an over the counter product for anyone struggling with diabetes, insulin resistance, food sensitivities etc. changing your diet with this diet is the key to motivation to stay on track and see results whether it’s from lowering blood sugar levels or weight loss etc.

I do appreciate this app and the libre 3 cgm, however as a newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic I am trying very hard to lower my A1C to the normal range. My numbers aren’t terrible but when something causes a spike and I miss seeing what it topped out at it would be nice to see the individual numbers. It would also be nice to see the time range between spikes and how long it takes to lower because I believe that plays a big part in your bodies ability to heal insulin resistance and metabolic disorders. Please consider making these changes in this app.

What a disappointment

Update
As I am finishing my first 2 weeks with a Libre 3 sensor and app. What this app needs is a little button in he corner like the scan button on the Libre 2 app. This button would be a one touch save of the current reading. If it had something like that, it would be so much better.

Original review
Seriously, as a former Libre 2 user for well over a year, now that my doctor has moved me to the Libre 3, I feel that I took a step forward and maybe 2 steps back. I enjoy picking up my phone and there my reading is ready for me without the scan. The step forward. But what was it a half hour ago when I looked last time? Except for the hard to read graph, who knows. That is the one step back. But considering that even with my Bluetooth finger stick meter I have specific historical data points to see but with my fancy Libre 3 CGM I don’t, how is that not 2 steps back. The app looks nicer than the Libre 2 and the smaller sensor is nice, but I may consider going back to the Libre 2 or possibly consider the Dexcom G7. This app is not a serious app. And don’t mention that lack of updates. Really, I hope that someone in app development management wakes up.

Close, but a few crucial things missing

I recently switched from the Freestyle Libre 14-day to the Libre 3, and on the whole, I've been pretty pleased with the upgrade. The user interface of the app is reasonably intuitive for an old guy like me. The app and the sensor integrate pretty well, but they do lose connection quite frequently.

Here are my major sticking points and requests:
1. When the sensor and the phone lose bluetooth connection for some reason, there does not appear to be a way to force an instant glucose read by touching the phone to the sensor. This was an aspect about the 14-day that I really appreciated, especially during times when my blood sugar was crashing and I couldn't fiddle with getting them to connect. It would also be very helpful for times when your phone battery is low and you would want to turn off bluetooth to conserve battery. If this is something that could be added with a software update, I would be overjoyed if you could implement a bluetooth-override force contact read feature in a future update.

2. As someone who also wears an Apple Watch with fall detection, it would be so nice to have the IOS app integrate with an Apple Watch. It would allow me to see the readings immediately on my wrist, and I wouldn't have to worry about always having to have my phone on me. Plus, in the event of a detected fall event, it would be wonderful to have the option to auto-display the current/last-read glucose reading.

Not great for gestational diabetes

For gestational diabetes, the blood sugar range you’re supposed to stay in is a lot smaller. The endocrinologist set the upper threshold, for 2hrs after a meal, to 140mg/dL and not one 1mg over! The measurements on the line graph are not detailed enough for me to check what exact measurement I got earlier in the day since the measurement lines go from 100 to 150 on the y-axis. Because I set my range (green shaded area) to max out at 140, I can see when my line goes above it but I can only make an ESTIMATE about whether it was 144 or 147 etc. I don’t know by how much exactly I went over so it makes tweaking my carb intake difficult. I don’t always remember to check my glucose exactly at the 2hr mark and right now I cannot go back to see the exact measurement at that time.
As many other users have complained about, you cannot touch your line graph to zoom in or have any sort of label pop up telling you the reading at any given past time point, which seems like a very basic feature for an app for people tracking their glucose levels at different time points in the day. If they added this simple feature, my issues would be resolved. Think of all the stock apps where you can easily click on the line graph, at any time point in the past, to see exactly what the price points were that day and specially at a given time. That is what people need.
