Wide temp swings
Generally, Grill controls seem to work. Only giving 3 stars because I can’t tell if the app or grill controller is buggy. Too many times where I can’t trust the app or controller. Say I’m at 195 degrees. I will change the temp of the grill through the app to 220z. While the app says the grill is at 195, the second I change the temp the indicator will drop like 30 degrees to 165 and stay there. I dont know if it’s the app or controller. But it makes using a “easy” smoker a headache.

Doesn’t connect to my Prime Ledge
Bought a new Ledge this summer and it won’t connect to the new prime app
Poorly developed app
App does not connect to either of my GMG grills anymore, support doesn’t pickup the phone.
App was clearly developed to fast and not tested.

For me, the Prime version is better than the legacy GMG app
This version of the GMG app has been working well for me so far.
It has extras I don’t use but the core functionality works and it automatically connects to my grill every time I open the app with my grill powered on. I even use it in server mode where I used to only use WiFi mode with the legacy app. I even appreciate the new user interface design.
I am a long term Green Mountain Grill owner. I have a Daniel Boone Classic and a Jim Bowie Prime+. But I’ve always had regular trouble with the older legacy app. Frequently I would open the app, attempt to connect to either of my grills and end up with the “Grill not found” message. It got to the point where I stopped using the app. I could just as easily turn the grill on using the controls on the grill and I don’t use the built in thermometers. I use a ThermoWorks thermometer with a paired wireless monitor I can carry around up to a 1/2 mile distance.
I would only use the legacy app in WiFi mode because server mode was frequently buggy and would lose connection a lot. Server mode in the prime app just works and it connects automatically.
Now when I leave I’ll actually use one of the built in temperature probes as a secondary so I can watch the temperature of what I’m cooking over my phone when I’m away from home.
Good job on the new app Green Mountain. It does have a bunch of extra features I’ll never use but the core app is actually useful now.

Still doesn’t work great.
Tried this app about a year ago with terrible results. Connectivity was spotty, massive temp swings, terrible all around user experience. Was surprised to come back to see this app had fantastic reviews now. Unfortunately it appears around Apr 20th a slew of 5 star reviews, one or two lines, marketing lingo, and generic user names boosted this app to its current rating. Looks like bots to me.
If this happened organically it’s unfortunate. The app still doesn’t work great, stick with legacy.
If GMG paid for a bot service, that’s pretty bad form guys, just make a better app, everyone else did it, so can you.

WiFi Not Working
I have called GMG tech support about my WiFi not working in Server Mode. Each of these conversations have ended with tech support advising that it is a known problem with the app and IOS after a certain update (I believe it was IOS 17). The whole purpose of having a grill with WiFi is to be able to monitor it anywhere in my house. The solution I was given: use it in local mode (Bluetooth) and wait for us to get a fix. Unfortunately, to use it in Bluetooth mode, my phone has to be right next to it. This defeats the purpose of being able to set it, then walk around my house or property and still monitor it. This has been going on for over 6 months…if not for this issue, I’d have given it a much higher rating.

Terrible app
Got the new Ledge 2.0 and not only will it not connect to the app for more than a minute even after the update, it won’t even connect to Bluetooth. 20+ reset attempts. I keep being told they’re working on it but I’d be shocked if this isn’t a component issue. Sounds like a common issue people are having. Bummed since I came over from another brand of pellet grill I had for 10 years with zero issues.

Finally!
Thank you for fixing the bugs in the prior release (a month long blunder) . Due to connection issues with the prior release, I had to manually control my grill for over a month!. This release seems to resolve the aforementioned issue and stays connected and functions as it had for over 2 years prior to the release before this one.

Prime 2.0 app failure
Been trying for two weeks to get app and new Prime 2.0 grill to connect. Occasionally successful only to have it drop immediately. Tech call useless as technician seemed like they couldn’t get off phone fast enough telling me to wait on update. Got update and it is just as bad. Reset grill 6 times, no luck. It is either the grill or app, but regardless, I feel like I have wasted $1300 going with GMG. Steer clear until they work this nonsense out.

Last update killed my Trek
Well, the last update borked my Trek Prime. Was working fine and reliable until this last update. Now it disconnects after a short time and I can’t connect to it again in server mode or locally. Even though it shows up in the app. I have full WiFi signal (confirmed on the router) and the devices is fully pingable. I even reset the grill to factory default, deleted my account and recreated it. Still acting flaky and disconnecting on a whim with this last app update. Which, I see is for the Trek Prime Plus. I even attempted to update the firmware and that was successful. Still no love. Please fix this as soon as possible.
