Can’t modify days of workout.

By mistake I pressed three days rather than five days of workout. Right away I try to change it, but it will not allow you to change that. I purchased this app because I do not know how to work out, so I need things like knowing when I should rest. Unfortunately now, I’m stuck with a three day workout per week rather than a five day workout per week. I called customer service and they had no idea what they were doing. They just said I can fast forward to another day and just do them all continuously every day if I wanted to. Even I know that is wrong. One star for not having something as simple as adjusting your training plan.

Great basic concept. Needs fine tuning.

The workouts themselves are good. It’s nice to have an app that builds in intensity based on states current fitness level and goals. It may be because I’m still early with the program but it’s strange having exercises that only target large muscle groups and never small ones. There are also some exercises like bent over rows that show up in almost every workout which is weird and feels like a good way to over work a targeted area. That said, the ability to swap exercises makes it easy to avoid that concern for folks who at least have the exercise knowledge to pick appropriately.

Things that could make the app better:
-Targeted exercise swapping by Goal or muscle group. Literally any guidance since part of the selling point for the program is “good coaching”.

-the ability to adjust the meal planning and time commitment. I entered commuting to 1hr of meal prep. I assumed that meant per week. The meal plan has me trying to do 30 min/ meal/ day for 3 meals and 2 snacks. That’s 2.5hrs a day for cooking. Just no. The fact that can’t be adjusted in a paid plan is not great.

-the app needs to pair with fitness trackers. It currently doesn’t talk to any OS fitness app for activity and calorie tracking. That’s a big hole in the build that the majority of other fitness apps have.

Right now the workouts are good for what I personally need. If these gaps are addressed, it would be an all around 5 star app.

I am very happy to find this program. Doing things properly is what matters. I have seen changes in me within a few weeks. Would continue it. Wish could have found this earlier.
Best luck!!

Hello! Thank you for choosing our app! We truly appreciate reviews as inspiring as this one. Keep enjoying it! Best regards, Mad Muscles Team

Not what I was expecting

Workouts are ok, wish there was more customization as I have a pretty decent home gym but have to think outside the box to make some of the moves work. If you select the home option it’s just bands and body weight. Not a fan of how it runs through the workout. I get it’s supposed to be a higher intensity but It just rolls right through the movements too quickly and you need a to switch weights or move around a lot. Wish there was a start stop button between movements not just the play pause button because you can’t see the next movement. Will be looking for a different option for a workout app. Wish I didn’t spend the $60 bucks on this already.

Confusing and distracting

The actual lifts and cadence seem pretty good.

The narrator girl talks in a singsong valley girl voice, counting down to an unnecessarily long and piercing beep, which tells you to do who knows what. That is, do I start exercising at the beep or do I stop?

The text of each exercise says to do, in my case, 4 sets of 12 reps, but then it seemingly has you accomplish 8 sets. Wait, the alternating sets are when I was supposed to rest. There was no indication of when I should be working or when I should be resting. The girl just keeps counting down to zero, followed by the ice-pick shrill in my ear.

One cannot X out of the app with out being prompted to start the workout from the beginning or simply pause or because you need to tend to something else on your phone.

Lots of more work would be required to make the app useful.

Simple and Effective

The app is straightforward and simple. Exactly what I was looking for. Way too many apps integrate features I don’t care for, or they try and be the one stop shop which in turn makes the app feel cluttered. So far this app has been wonderful and the meals are mostly cheap, and easy to make.

The only con I currently have it I get an error message when trying to use it under home wifi. Once they correct this it’ll be five stars for me.

Shaking my head. What a joke.

I can watch Instagram fitness models and get more out of that than this app. I mean $50 for 6 months is pretty cheap compared to a real personal trainer, but the workouts are an ABSOLUTE J-O-K-E. I will be calling my bank tomorrow for a refund, and deleting the app. Shaking my head in disgust. I guess it could be okay for someone FIRST STARTING that has NEVER worked out before in their life. But considering I set the difficulty to 10, and said “I know my way around a gym” I mean, I can’t help but laugh at what it provided me with. I have dumbbells, a weight bench, and a resistance band. This thing told me to use 6L water bottles. Watching the video examples, the model has nice form, and provides a good example of the set. But again, seriously, if you have any basic knowledge of workouts and what to do for different muscle groups throughout the week, don’t waste your money. I only wanted to try it out so I’d have a strict routine to follow, because I do better that way and I can get chaotic doing every muscle group sometimes when I don’t have a list of sets to follow daily. All in all, saying I’m completely unsatisfied is an understatement. Whoever made this needs to LEVEL UP!!!!!! There is FREE content out there BETTER than this. Very disappointed.

Horrible

If someone says they have full equipment, why does the program have them using water bottles for deadlifts, bands for side raises, etc? I have a basement full of equipment, dumbbells, and free weights. However, the program uses very little of it no matter what options I choose when rebuilding the program. Why in the world would I use water bottles for deadlifts? Sure I can improvise, but I have to for about every exercise in order to make it more of a challenge.

Even 10/10 is too easy and I’m nearly 45! Not going to be much of a challenge for most people. This app is for beginners to strength training.

Good home exercises but…

The app works fine to keep track of your exercises, to focus on a goal and to have an idea of what to eat…however they never told you, you pay $40 just to use the app and then $1.50 every week for the plan…also that the $40 are for a period of use…so basically you end up paying mostly the double for 6 months AND if you did not pay the weekly fee you just lose your first $40 because the app does not allow you to use it…Another weird function is the “diary” to keep track of what you eat that sent notifications and that the app does not have…so I think the app has potential but the way the money charges work are not client/user friendly at all…I’m using it for the period I paid and never use it again, because already requested the refund and I’m still waiting so…

app needs work

This is a good service but the app is kinda broken
-dates don’t align with days of the week. This makes it just a bit more complicated to figure out work/rest days and workouts you’ve missed. Calendar also starts on the wrong week when i open the app. A “today” button could be useful
-workout summary will give different reps and sets than the videos once you start a workout.
-there’s no way to view videos without starting a workout, so if you’re trying to study form for a specific workout or stretch it might accidentally log an extra workout and screw up your calorie tracking.
also please split the cooldown into separate sections so i don’t have to watch the whole section for a stretch i missed.
