The Best Bitcoin Exchange!

KYC was completed within 48 hours. Reasonable fees and, most importantly, easy-to-reach and extremely friendly customer service—they are running circles around every other mainstream exchange! I had a question, called and spoke to a human within 5 minutes I'm not buying Bitcoin from no other exchanges from here on out!

Edit: My Bitcoin has been on hold, coming up on 12 days 😔. If the 7-day holding period only applies to business days and does not include weekends/holidays, the policy should be updated to reflect that.

Nice interface but also some frustrations.

The app is designed well, looks great, and works flawlessly. On the flip side, translation caps are VERY low (compared to other popular exchanges), customer service doesn’t seem to respond to emails (at least not mine), and ACH payment processing takes about 2 days longer than it does through another exchange I’ve used for years. I appreciated that River is a Bitcoin only exchange (my other exchange isn’t). I’m not sure how long I’ll keep using River if I’m limited to just $1k at a time (when my other exchange allows up to $5k per day).

Scummy BTC Exchange

Stick with Strike for DCA plans, or the bigger well reputable sites to buy bitcoin.

Registration is simple but their KYC process is the worst of them all. This is the only place that held my BTC/Cash for near a month on hold, and then DELETED my account. Sure, I might be the unlucky few who got a trash experience. But because my account got deleted, I can no longer contact support via phone calls (I don’t have an account), and their email support probably prioritizes members over trashed members. When I had an account, email response would take minutes, 10-20 at most. I haven’t gotten jack once my account got deleted. No idea where my money or BTC went, because, whoops, no account, silly me. Their KYC had me submit my ID, and locked any methods of sending BTC or money out for a month, and the minute the withholding period ended, banhammer. What a joke.

Like I said earlier, stick to Strike or the bigger exchanges. It took 5 min at most to have all features unlocked, and their withholding period is ~7 days.

Awesome company that’s actually trustworthy

Safe, easy, and hella simple to use. Love the app and love the fact I can earn BTC on my cash!! With such a trustworthy company, I feel super comfortable allowing them to hold onto my cash (unlike the other shady exchanges that went belly up). Thanks for providing such a stand up service and thanks for letting people grow their bitcoin safely

Disappointed 😡

I opened account to send bitcoin only to find out it takes 60 days to get identity verification done because they will not approve you on 1st try then when you put cash on forget it because you WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR MONEY for 14-21 days because they claim they want make sure even though you give them money out your account that it real or something so it takes them minimum of 14 days before you can do anything but give them money very irritated that that hide that in the fine fine print

Poor customer service and response time

Upon becoming A New Client and opening an account with Rivers Financial, I was able to and had access for several days. It wasn’t until I completed A transfer to add money to my bitcoin account with Rivers Financial that following this transaction was my account magically closed and my funds of $5000 was stolen without any further notification or update of my funds being returned back to me. The only notification I received was Account closure due to any reason as I am A new client and yet haven't had any response from this company or call back information after leaving A voicemail, sending two emails and making numerous attempts to get customer service on the li e to get answer about MY MONEY and the reason for my NEW account being closed. To me it seems like the suspicious activities is coming from Rivers financial end. Keep in mind I have children who I provide for and am VERY MUCH A hardworking single mother being stolen from constantly is very disappointing, and to hold someone’s money and without following up with them on their initial investment looks to me A Law suit needs to be filed on this establishment and report to the Better Business Bureau, so no one else has to experience such Legal robberies that looks like could be taking place at this time. As A cyber security specialist, this matter will be now submitted for investigation!

The response time is very limited.

heavy-handed limitation - move on

I’m a US user who applied to multiple exchanges this year. Approved by Kraken Pro, Swan, Coinbase and BitcoinWell, but not by River... A week after applying I contact them to ask if they even got my application since the App seemed to be stuck on “pending”. I finally received the rejection email, but no explanation from River as to why.

Of the other exchanges Kraken Pro is the clear winner for both user experience and low fees. 0.25% purchase fee + free Lightning withdrawals (via Muun swap back to BTC cold storage for less than .02% fees). Can’t compare River’s actual fees obviously but if I can get to cold storage for under 0.5% there no reason to bother with River.

Verify your ID first…before anything else

I recommend verifying your ID before putting any of your cash and BTC on River. I have my cash/BTC on River and uploaded my current drivers license and current selfie per the instructions to send my BTC. It was denied the next day with NO stated reason. It also mentions that I cannot try again for another MONTH, which makes me so nervous!! Essentially, my money is being locked up. My guess is it was an error on their side or they are being overly cautious? Idk how my ID and selfie are denied when what I uploaded is accurate and me in all degrees. Hoping they resolve this error swiftly so I can upgrade to a 5 star! UPDATE: I called support and the rep said: “I’m sorry but you have to wait a month and I can’t tell you why you were denied by the compliance team.” What if it’s denied again in a month? It would be nice to know what’s wrong so that it doesn’t happen again?? Sad to have this experience as it was recommended to me by a friend who has had nothing but positive reviews of this app.

Worst bitcoin broker ever

Don’t waste your time, they’re just going to get you to open an account then send you an email a few months later stating that they are closing your account with no explanation, like what... it’s like they just wanted to steal my information or something I don’t get it but definitely the worst Bitcoin broker I’ve ever seen. I’ve been DCA my Bitcoin since 2018 with another broker and thought I’ll give River a try, but never again, I will continue using my broker. It’s brokers like this that will eventually run with your money. SMDH!!!
