  • Fantastic App for Apple Watch

Really impressed with the analysis available - the data is presented in a similar way to Whoop, without having to purchase another expensive wearable. Would be great to see further development and more recommendations - as well as being able to breakdown the trends further, perhaps by week also. I like the energy feature but would be great to see a weekly comparison similar to MFP, so you can see your overall calories in vs out when flexi dieting, as well as an optional macro breakdown.

  • Disappointing app

I used the app for a several weeks and found the UI on both the phone and the watch to be brilliant. Just enough info without going overboard. After a few weeks I noticed that this app doesn’t record the exertion measured in Strava and your daily exertion scores are subsequently false. After buying RunGap to pull the data from Strava across into Apple Health for Analytic to use, it still doesn’t register the intensity of my cycling and use it as part of the calculations. With recovering reporting requiring accurate data, this app can’t be relied upon. After many hours fiddling and researching, and for the price of buying two apps to make it work I decided to pay slightly extra and subscribe to Strava premium.

Thanks for your review but Athlytic is designed for and integrates with Apple Health. If you use a third party app or wearable that doesn't properly save your data into Apple Health, then Athlytic doesn't have the data it needs to read.
  • Best in class!

I have never felt the need to write a review for an app in the past, but this app deserves to be seen.

Over the years I have used several fitness devices long-term, Whoop, Garmin Forerunner 945 and Oura for sleep. I recently decided to give up Garmin and try Apple Watch to see how the data would fit my lifestyle. I was by no means impressed with Apple Watch as-is, thankfully I stumbled upon this app, and was blown away.

I have been using this app for 3 days so far, and I am very impressed with the data that is presented within the app itself. The overall metric reporting and presentation of data is similar to Whoop, which I love because it’s familiar. It’s very clean and the graphing is very nice, it even syncs with Cronometer and updates my caloric intake vs output.

The only critique that I have (being a designer myself), the design could use some tweaking to make it feel more premium and consistent. There are a lot of text heavy elements, and wasted space in sections with too much space between elements. This app could feel very premium with some minor graphic organization and updating of some data presentations.

Overall- I absolutely love this app, I will subscribe for the year, and it may just be the tool to keep me using Apple Watch as my main fitness wearable. Excited to see where the developers take this app!

Thanks so much for your review, I would love to hear more about specifically where you would like to see the design improved (e.g. wasted space etc.) feel free to shoot me an email at athlytic@gmail.com. Thanks again! Gary
  • Amazing app like whoop but better

I’ve used this app daily for almost a year now, its the closest thing to whoop you can find on the App Store, but it’s better! Gary is constantly updating the app to provide the most accurate and consistent readings along with adding new features that continue to help me improve my fitness while monitoring how my body is handling the load I put on it daily. If your looking for an app that will allow your Apple Watch to perform just as good as whoop does, then this is an app that you have to give a try!

  • Was looking for something to take the place of Whoop

I recently tried a whoop strap and loved the information it provides. I did however not like the fact it did not work with apple health nor the monthly subscription fees. After doing some research on the web I stumbled upon this app. It provides a good bit of the data that the Whoop strap does but uses your Apple Watch and some other data points that you can choose yourself. Although I like what I see you can tell this app is in its infancy and I look forward to the refinements and features that are ahead. I think this time next year it maybe a full fledged replacement for the data you would get with Whoop for a fraction of the price. I signed up for premium and look forward to where this goes.

  • Great Alternative

So far I am really loving this app. I wanted to find something similar to Whoop that I could use in conjunction with my Apple Watch and this seems to be the best out there. The UI is great and provides tons of data points to review.

I wore my Apple Watch and Whoop both during workouts and sleep to compare the differences in data over a two week period. The Whoop and Athlytic provided very similar results. The only difference I saw with Athlytic was my HRV being lower by about 10 points than my Whoop within the first week. I presume this is because I needed to set a baseline. I think it is starting to level out now.

For the price, $30/yr is much better than Whoop’s $30/mo.

  • App is blank (Edit-Updated)

[UPDATE] If you are getting a blank screen, update to 15. This fixed it for me. Upgrading to pro is pretty much a must as all of the features are there. Reasonably priced and well worth it for me.

This app has amazing UI and plots almost all of the data I currently want. This is without a doubt the closest thing to Whoop available currently on the Apple Watch.

Developer - I would love to be able to see body weight in the future, especially in the trending tab. The design of your graphs have become my new favorite, keep the good stuff coming!

Will update to 5 star after response. App is working great on my watch but I would like to subscribe for the exertion feature but when I open the app on my phone the screen is blank (tried light and dark). I’m on the latest 14…hoping I don’t need to be on 15 for this yet as I have a few apps that I can’t upgrade yet. Looking forward to dev response. Thanks.

  • Love this app

When I exercise, I am all about the metrics. I even use a white board to write down goals and workouts, then I take a picture of the completed board at the end of each month so I can look back and know what I’ve done month after month and how I trended week to week. This app takes my tracking to a whole new level. Just the Exertion Zone alone has radically changed my schedule, which before was more or less guesswork. Now I know when I need to rest, or when I’m not working hard enough, and how to train for the right balance. I was about a day into the app when I realized I could skip the free trial and buy the yearly subscription. I haven’t regretted it. There is a bit of a learning curve, and I’m still learning all it can do, but I am utterly sold.

  • Excited about Athlytic!

I’ve had an Apple Watch for years but got a whoop band earlier this year. The monthly subscription quickly became old- especially considering I was still wearing my Apple Watch for the Watch purposes and it can do everything the whoop does. Coming off of whoop, I was looking for something to track recovery and effort given throughout the day. Athlytic does everything and more! I’m glad I found this because I can use my watch but also have a powerful fitness tracker on my wrist now also. I’m also excited it is still early for this app so I’m looking forward to where it can go. The frequent updates are good because I feel they actually listen to what people are asking for.

If I had to change anything, I would say make the app more of its own. It looks similar to the Apple health app in some ways and I would like to see a fresh look just to separate itself more. Also, I love the new chart under the trend tab. The only thing is the recovery vs exertion tab is the only one you can press and slide to see more specific times. I think if all the charts were like this, it would be an even better experience. It would be nice to press and slide on heart rate throughout the day or workout to get a deeper insight. Overall, this app has everything and as mentioned earlier, I’m glad I found it early on and can’t wait to see it continue to improve and grow!

  • Absolutely Phenomenal!!

My wife used a Whoop for about a week and needed to switch back to her Apple Watch for all of its other benefits. That’s when we found Athlyitc and haven’t looked back.

An absolute fraction of the price with every bit of functionality and useful data to influence your training decisions while keeping the usefulness of your Apple wearable intact.

The best part?? CONSTANT new features, design improvements, and candid listening by the developer(s) on Instagram and App Store reviews. This App already has the functionality to replace Whoop and other wearables for 99.9% of the population and continues to outpace them on leveraging data and analytics that continue to become available via Apple hardware. 10/10 recommend.
