  • M5 Cullompton extra IONITY

Still a fiddly process, forcing you to use their App. It really should be tap and go now. But once activated, the superb GUI on the IONITY app gives you all the progress data you need. Definitely not a high speed charge, peaking at 63Kw (charging from 24% capacity to 82%) and slightly less charge per kW than the Gridserve charger on site (74p v 79p). No option for plug and go which should be the norm now. Hence the 4 star rating.

  • Needs improvement - show how many available points there are

Somewhat useful app to see where the Ionity charge points are located, but you have to faff around and select the location to see how many charge points are currently available.

At least the Tesla app gives the info so you can tell if it’s worth going to a particular site or not.

Can’t give it any more stars as to me, this is basic functionality.

  • Suggestion

Nothing wrong with the app but a suggestion to make life easier for someone like me who is required to submit invoices to my company for expense purposes. Add the ability to create 1 invoice/receipt with the ability to include multiple charge sessions. This is a feature with the InstaVolt app and works perfectly.

  • Polestar 2 owner most unhappy ..

How come despite the fact I have linked my Plugsurfing card with Ionity App I have still been charged £0.79/ KWh when I was lead to believe it was £0.35 ??
Most misleading and glad I only used a small amount to boost what I already had in the car - for clarity ( as I can’t find this anywhere on the net ) find an Ionity charging point and book in with your Plugsurfing App as it only works the one way round ..don’t go direct to Ionity !

  • First class EV facilities

Only been an EV customer 6months but IONITY are streets ahead of all the other providers. I am a company vehicle user so not having to chase VAT receipts is really important to me. With IONITY once you finish your charge, the receipt is in your inbox 👍
  • Does the job

Things that would be big improvements:

    1. CarPlay integration.

    2. Quick view indicator of available charger status for charging locations without having to tap into it.
  • Out of order

Stopped at Gretna Green for a quick top up only to find one charger out of order. Apparently has been U/S for some time. Had to wait 15 minutes for one to come available.
  • A bit flaky

Used 7 IONITY rapid chargers on a trip across France
Had to delete and reinstall the app at each of the last 3 chargers to log on
Often didn’t link to credit card but Apple Pay seemed to work better
App needs sorting so it works reliably and doesn’t risk leaving drivers stranded
  • Refresh after ending app not working

Unable to see charging in real time, once app is ended the charger is still plugged into car and I can not access the charger in the app once restarted, have to go to charging point to stop, I can also not see the current charge or payment if app is ended and restarted, maybe add a car to my profile then access the charger to see if the car is still attached to my car, there are more faults but these seem major to me 👍🏻

  • Streets ahead

IONITY seems to be the only one alert to the fact that charging stations need to have multiple places and working chargers. Oh, an app that actually works.
