  • Pretty good with some shortfalls

There appears to be a syncing issue between the iOS app and the thermostat. Many times the app cooling/heating mode doesn’t agree with the actual mode on the thermostat. Yes, I ensured that both devices were online. Also, the outside air temperature on both the app and thermostat is way off, (many times by 25 degrees—right now it’s 68 degrees outside—both the app and thermostat show it to be 95. What is weird is that the future forecast seems to be accurate.
It would be nice to have better information on its anticipatory features since my heat pump comes on hours before the commanded temperature change which seems way excessive.
My favorite feature is how you can easily copy one day’s profile to the entire week or weekday. This app has a lot of potential so hopefully they will continue to improve it.

    Developer Response

Dear yetinut,Thank you for bringing this to our attention! To assist you better, could you please elaborate on the issues and provide a screen recording, along with your username, and send it to us at resdigital@carrier.com. We're committed to resolving this issue promptly. Sincerely, Bryant Home App Team.
  • Trying to be “too smart” with the schedule

I think that somewhere along the way the developers thought that it would be cool to have the system work ahead to meet the next scheduled temperature change by the time it is supposed to change. I hate this. Please either remove this “feature” or create a toggle for the user to turn this feature off. I want the scheduled time in the program to be the time that the temperature setting changes. I don’t want the system working ahead because I want clarity of control of the thermostat. For people who have variable electricity rates during a certain time of day this must be really painful, because not having precise control over when the system decides to kick on would be very problematic and costly.
  • Does all I need it to

I must be missing a great deal because I don’t have the same issues at all. The thermostat is fine. I can program it and forget about it. I like the feature that progressively increase humidity in the winter to the point just before my windows begin to sweat and in the summer I can activate the feature to run the AC longer to reduce the temperature up to three degrees in order to lower the humidity. I will say I was annoyed at how long it used to take inputs from the app to change the actual HVAC behavior but that had been addressed many app updates ago. Well over a year, probably two and it’s been longer still since we’ve had problems with the wall unit dropping the WiFi.

If I could change one thing now it would be to make the app interface and the wall thermostat interface more similar. I prefer the wall unit interface but I could get used to either but I prefer not to juggle both which offers different routes to change some of the same functions.
