  • Essential Tool

Living or travelling where cell service is unreliable this is the offline map you need. Thorough data, useful navigation and completely reliable (unlike Google, Apple offline options).
  • Brilliant - let’s replace Google and Apple

Have been waiting forever for this - community open source and offline. Google and Apple are so useless and exploit small businesses, harvest data, the lot. Can’t wait for this to catch on.
  • Great Map. Wish it had a Dark mode option for the app icon

Does everything I need it too.

If you live near a boundary for OpenStreetMaps you will have to download multiple areas.

Also following IOS18 it would be nice to have the option to switch the app icon to a dark mode version (black background, green icon)
  • Excellent app!

This is hands down a fantastic mapping application with offline support, light on battery usage, and regular updates from OpenStreetMap. I regularly use this when going on walks and find it especially useful for tracking distances and finding parks with public restrooms.
  • I find the release notes very helpful

Great app! More ppl should know about this map as opposed to using that Google garbage.

Would be nice if a saved track could be shown with a thicker line. Or have an option for track line thickness and/or change its color. Unfortunately, the track lines are very thin and difficult to see.

The routing quality highly depends on the underlying OSM maps data. Did you update the app and downloaded maps to the latest version? Can you please send us examples of wrong routes with their screenshots and start/end coordinates at ios@organicmaps.app, or send links to the same routes at osm.org? In this way we can improve the app.
  • Perfect

Perfect. Let's hope Devs don't convolute this like all other apps of this nature..
  • Great Start

Been using this for the last couple of weeks using Apple CarPlay mode. While this application is a great start I hope more improvements are coming. The first thing that annoys me is the map is sometimes really slow to update my position. So I’ll be a little bit up the road but the map hasn’t caught up. I have the map downloaded locally so don’t understand why it would lag like this. Also in CarPlay when I first open the app and switch to another app it disappears from the left bar. Apple Maps pops up again instead. If I switch to organic maps enough it eventually sticks but it’s annoying it doesn’t stick the first time. Honestly if the map lagging behind gets fixed in CarPlay mode I would move up to a 4 star. Overall it’s really close but needs these couple of enhancements to make it more useable. A nice feature would be to add speed checks that the users could add alerts for other users too. Bumping up to 4 stars today as the map was able to keep up with my destinations. I don’t understand why sometimes it works great and sometimes it doesn’t. Happened again today where the map couldn’t keep up with the routing. Gonna leave 3 star until it’s consistently good. I’m not sure why sometimes it works great and other times doesn’t work at all in CarPlay.

  • Best offline maps, hands down

Cleanest implementation of OpenStreetMaps data in an app, with just the features needed, and none of the bloat of Google Maps. Clear directions while driving and is also fantastic for hiking in areas where phone reception is limited and when you need to conserve battery life.

    Thanks for the motivating review!
  • The best for OSM

The best OSM rendering app I have used. Very clear and easy to use with offline maps that you can use when out in the wild with no coverage. Regular and worthwhile updates with proper release notes, not like the big commercial developers who are too lazy.

    Thanks!
  • great

i’ve used this app on trails in the far corners of Europe - in Bulgaria and in Ireland - it’s stable, works well, doesn’t mess with the phone’s battery, and the offline maps make the experience reliable.

the release notes along every update are awesome - a rarity in the app store.
