  • Great update

Nice to see that this app is still non commercial, old maps.me but much better! Really like that the option selection does not hide/disappear from the bottom of the screen any more, makes it a lot easier.

You meant bottom buttons? Full screen mode is toggled now with a long tap. A single tap selects any place on the map.
  • Thank you!

Thank you for creating this app. The other maps app is getting aggressive with commercialization and is becoming unusable.

  • Excellent design philosophy, thanks

I use almost daily a number of mapping apps, both on desktop Mac and iOS / iPad. I also regularly update the OSM base-map on my travels. On iOS I find GoMap! great for editing the OSM database and I also use UKMap for offline mapping in the UK. On Garmin I find the TalkyToaster (paid for) maps the best for small screens. I use GPXStudio (web-based) to create new tracks, it has a Strava Heat-map layer which is brilliant. So, I can do almost all GPX editing and creating now with iOS based tools.

A need to use mapping outside the UK in September this year brought me here! All the apps I used to use abroad are more or less dead, replaced with strange paid for only options with lots of social functionality, which doesn’t interest me at all.

Organic Maps is clear and simple to use. I hope to be able to curate and display a lot of tracks I have collected over the years. (I use GPX viewer for this at the moment). But organising many different sets of data can get a bit tiresome.

Organic Maps does iCloud sync, which is very very good too. Means I can curate the tracks on my iPad and have them appear instantly on the iPhone for use outside. It would be great if there were an Intel Mac version of Organic Maps too… I see you have a solution that can work with Apple Silicone…! An excuse to buy one of those?

I look forward to future update.

I will have to donate in the near future once I’ve used it a bit more.

    Thanks.

  • Join the movement, be a leader for your community

After realising and understanding just how much of my data has been taken my Google Maps, I’m being slightly disappointed that although Apple maps are fantastic experience and really safe and they just don’t have all the details on and when I tried updating the really slow, this is just the best there is great detail on here have been updated by local people. It is super easy to add and correct things and it’s totally free and private. You get more people involved with your community. As soon as you’re all using it. Your local area will be populated and feel that with correct information super quick, and then if everyone did that, we would be outstripping googles performance easily. with no cost to our privacy, flipping amazing, well done I will be donating a small amount to you. Thank you very much.

    Thanks!
  • Amazing.

I can’t believe this app exists. It is what map.me was when it first came out, but better.

    Developer Response

True, the goal is to make the best maps ever!
  • Possibility of customized caption for book marker

Is it possible to customize the label name of book marks. Instead of RED for a red marker, etc. is is possible to edit for a more meaningful name? (5 July update) Thanks for the response. But, what I mean is the caption of the marker. For example change from “Red” to, say “Museum”, for the red marker, etc

Hi thanks for the update. The icon itself (color icon) is fine. I have a confined type of places I would like to bookmark. Not sure about usage of other users, now I have to memorize, on the map, a green icon is traffic related, Pink is scenic spot, Blue is shops, etc

    🔴 Red ===> 🔴 Museum

Do you mean to change the icon of a bookmark? Custom icons are planned.
  • So far so good

More stable than OMS with better UI, using it in Venice which has lots of little backroads. I’ll update as I use it
Update: after the end of our trip in Italy, I can officially say it was quite useful. Was great anywhere there was no internet, even if you were on route to somewhere it could keep track. And I don’t mean one bar, I mean no internet I was able to use it hiking when USA cell providers international abilities were completely down.

TLDR. Amazing anywhere your primary map won’t work as long as the area is downloaded.

  • Nice app to have - will improve over time

Nice to have an offline option. Doesn’t show multiple route options like Google maps and the voice instructions occur as you are at an intersection which is fine for hiking but occurs a bit late to be practical for driving-especially if you are unable to watch the screen which does show an upcoming turn. Should be even better with future enhancements.

Thanks! We'll check out how voice instructions can be improved.
