Music Memo Replacement
Response from developer
So glad to hear you love Tape It and find it intuitive. 🫶
Tape It! The New Normal
Response from developer
Glad you like it. Also love how you describe Tape It as “the new normal” - that was exactly our intention when building it, and we couldn’t have found a better phrase to describe it!
Nice UI but limited features and astonishingly expensive
Response from developer
Yes, the lifetime license is not on the cheap end. But on the other hand, almost all of the features in the app are free. There are no ads either, and it includes cloud storage, too. This is a proper freemium app, where the free version is actually fully usable. The paid version offers support for external mics, stereo and lossless recording. If you don’t need that, it‘s all free. And also, there‘s a $6/month subscription available, too. That‘s less than two coffees for something that can really save your day when you need a good field recorder.
Finally! Something to replace Music Memos
Response from developer
Yep, it’s not the same as Music Memos - we thought Apple did a lot of things right with it, but also a lot of things wrong. Really glad to hear that Tape It works even better for you!
Best app !!

So glad you like it ☺️!
This is the app for creative musicians
There are nice little details in this app, such as the main tape list showing markers, making mix tapes (collections of recordings), adding pictures to your recordings, and the best part: a record button from the Lock Screen. I especially like that once I play back recordings, it acts like any other music app, so I can kick off a playlist of my own ideas.
I guess iPhone mic has decent limiting, because I just set this on top of my acoustic piano and go. The wave form is usually pretty maxed out, and the recordings aren’t very dynamic but that’s not the point. I kinda expected it to come out as a horrific distorted mess but it sounds clear. Plus you can use external mics and record lossless if you want to. For me though, put it on top of the piano, tap a button, and get to playing. It couldn’t get easier.
At first I thought the paid version is a bit pricey for what is basically an audio note-taking app. But this is for a relatively niche audience, and it’s super well executed. If you’ve ever lost ideas in a giant list of voice memos, or left recordings sitting on your portable recorder for months on end, this is the app for you.
The sync feature works well, so I can record on my iPhone and then sync to iPad, where I export the recording to Anytune Pro. Transcribe it, write it down, snap a photo and add it to the recording. It’s a super cool tool for documenting and developing ideas.
I haven’t used the collab feature yet, but I jam with buddies and I’m looking forward to sharing stuff with them - especially once the developer adds “record on top”.
There are a gajillion apps out there to help people have fun with music, which is cool, but this is one of the few tools I’ve found that is immediately and incredibly useful to musicians!

Thank you so much for your amazing review! We’re really glad Tape It works so well for you, and we couldn’t have described the purpose of the app better than you have. 🙏
Handy app for recording ideas

Thank you so much for your review! I’m glad you like it. We’ll continue to improve it while keeping the simplicity :).
Make me sign in = I delete it
Response from developer
I‘m sorry to hear that the sign-in upset you. Tape It backs up your recordings in the cloud, syncs them between your devices, and allows you to privately share recordings with musicians you work with. That’s what the sign in is needed for. Your recordings are sent and stored with encryption on servers in the EU, and if you ever want to delete it from our servers, there’s a big red “delete everything” button right in the app. I hope this reply addresses your concerns, and you give Tape It a try :).
Easily My Favorite App/Tool
Response from developer
Glad you like it, Tyler! We actually agree on the lock screen record button 😄. We were surprised ourselves after we built it just *how* incredibly useful it turned out to be 🙂.
So bad
Response from developer
The app is mostly free, and the free version sounds exactly like every other recording app on iOS. If you don’t like the stereo sound - which you can try for free before paying anything - you can use the app entirely for free, forever, benefitting from all the other features it brings. There are no ads either. Please consider that we’re pouring our heart and personal savings into this project before leaving a review like this.
