Love StreetSmart
I started using StreetSmart at the direction of my auto insurance provider Amica. This is a great app that watches for speeding, sudden stops and cell phone use. As a reward, they give me a percentage off of my insurance premiums and also a cash payoff. I have to tell you, it really has made me a more cautious and careful driver and I am way less likely to pick up my cell phone while driving. Highly recommend the use of this app. You are graded on each and every drive so immediate gratification on each score. You are even graded according to the nationwide number of StreetSmart drivers. Hard break is flawed
This app is great except for the hard brake feature. Every single time I have to stop for a yellow light I get penalized for hard braking! The app encourages you to run yellow lights because if you have to stop quickly, you get penalized. I was just on a road with a speed limit a 55 and yes, it has lights and the light turned yellow and I knew immediately that I was going to get penalized for hard braking. Sure enough once I got home and it gave me a score, I got penalized for hard braking at the light. If I didn’t brake and went through the light, it would’ve been red by the time I got there. This app really needs to fix that feature. I’m having second thoughts of using it because it’s so frustrating.Show lessDam1061
Street Smart App
This app needs some work because it states I have distractions when I lock my iPhone in place while I’m driving and I never touch it. It also states I’ve been doing hard braking, which isn’t accurate either. Not to mention, the law allows 5 mph over the speed limit and I usually stay on the speed limit or at most 5 mph over. Most the time, closer to the speed limit! Therefore, this app needs to be updated to reflect real World experiences and driving conditions! Thanks!Show lessJaws mister

The App is good at evaluating my driving as long as my phone is parked in a holder or charging station in the car.
Definitely don’t leave your phone in your purse or on the seat next to you because it senses movements differently and will think you are “distracted” when you haven’t even touched your phone.
One bad thing is if you are driving the speed limit (45 mph) and are coming up on a traffic light, but have to break and come to a stop swiftly if a light turns yellow, I have been penalized for abrupt breaking when I actually had a steady breaking and plenty of time to stop. They need to fix their algorithms.
Overall, it’s been really good. And it is definitely incentivized me to drive a little more conservatively.Show lesszzDana
Hard Break is not correct
Twice I’ve gotten a hard break notice when I didn’t break that hard. In both cases there was a vehicle that pulled in front of me that caused me to slow up and I don’t mean slam on the breaks just regular breaking to slow up so I wouldn’t drive up on them. Kind of annoying I get penalized for avoiding a situation caused by other people pulling in front of me - I have no control over that! The more I try to align with this system instead of reading the flow of traffic and behavior of other drivers the less safe I feel. Not sure I like this app but will see if it saves me money. I think they should get rid of the hard break tracking as it doesn’t seem to work properly and, even if it did, it can not tell if the reason for breaking was due to another driver’s behavior which I would bet is the case most of the time with people who proactively choose an app like this.Show lessGood and Effective

I have been using this app for over 4 weeks now and loving it. It is making me a much safer driver by pointing out the minor flaws in my driving. The rewards are the icing on the cake. I would like to understand where the app is getting the posted speed limits though. It’s flagging me routinely for going 45 in a 35 along my morning coffee route, but the entire way is 45 mph.Show lessFlamerz97

Ease of use and fair rating application . The emphasis is on excessive speeding, hand phone use while driving, and sudden breaking . The application gradually trained the driver to drive to defensively . The rule on speeding is quite reasonable to allow local driving conditions. One negative is the application speed limit is not accurate or not reflecting current posted speed limit . Hopefully the administration would rectified after verification. I would recommend young and inexperienced drivers to use the application as part of their training program for limited time periods.Show lessChl1005xxx

Definitely don’t leave your phone in your purse or on the seat next to you because it senses movements differently and gave me some bad ratings when I was driving conservatively and within the speed limits.
Overall, it seems to be pretty good though. And it is definitely incentivized me to drive a little more conservatively.Show less
