  • Finally got me to put my phone away

This app has finally incentivized me enough to get in the habit of not using my phone while driving. I genuinely feel that it has had a significantly positive impact on my driving safety. What started as an effort to save some money on my car insurance ended up impacting my behaviors in a positive way. Thank you, Amica!

  • Needs Overhaul

This program needs a significant overhaul. Having to know after every drive to specify whether you were the passenger is honestly a joke. If it detects a drive it should push to ask if you were the driver. Also the algo used to detect phone usage is flawed. I had several trips show phone use when it was plugged in sitting on the car charger. And even after six months of use with a score of 85 I still somehow don’t qualify for discount? At least tell me why. If you’re going to tie discount to this, it needs to be considerably more transparent. Shame really as normally everything Amica does is top quality, but this app and program belong in the recycle bin.

We’re sorry to hear you feel this way about our app. There are many factors that go into scoring and qualification for discounts, and we’d be happy to review the phone usage events for you. If you’re interested, please email us at streetsmartsupport@amica.com. Thank you.
  • Better braking!

Since using this app I have been more conscious of my following distance since some drivers are apt to suddenly stop for no reason or cut into my lane without signaling. Overall it’s just a reminder that you’re sharing the road with other drivers who may not have the same defensive skills so don’t let others spoil your great scores 😊✌🏽

  • Somebody watching me

Drivers hate me because I drive the silly speed limit of 25 mph which is insane. I get accused by you app of hard breaking which it is not. When you go this slow and the brakes in the modern car are better at braking, I don’t need that extra room because I am the lead car with people giving me the finger for going so slow. So don’t say I did hard breaking. I can’t believe I am venting to an app. I fear getting rear ended or killed because of the app. Drivers are wreckless and don’t care I drive cautiously.

Hello Sandi. We appreciate hearing that you use the StreetSmart by Amica app! We want to avoid penalizing drivers when maintaining the flow of traffic. For that reason, we set the speeding threshold to be within 9 mph over the speed limit or higher. For the most accurate readings of braking, also make sure your phone is secured or mounted. We work hard to make the scoring model dynamic to take into account inevitable situations like this which is why your overall score is based on the sum of many drives and one incident of hard braking will not set you back. Please reach out to us at streetsmartsupport@amica.com if you’d like us to review any of your trips with you as well. Thank you.
  • StreetSmart Apps

Ease of use and fair rating application . The emphasis is on excessive speeding, hand phone use while driving, and sudden breaking .
The application gradually trained the driver to drive to defensively . The rule on speeding is quite reasonable to allow local driving conditions. One negative is the application speed limit is not accurate or not reflecting current posted speed limit . Hopefully the administration would rectified after verification.
I would recommend young and inexperienced drivers to use the application as part of their training program for limited time periods.

  • Overall good app

I like the app and everything that comes with it. The only thing is you get dinged hard for breaking. I went on a 10 mile drive and had to break for a car pulling out in front of me. No speeding and no phone use but yet for that one breaking event, I was given 1 out of 5 stars for that trip. Outside of that I like everything else.

Thank you for your feedback and review. We’re glad to hear that you’re enjoying the other elements of the app. Our first priority is that our customers are driving safely. It sounds like slowing down was the safe choice. We work hard to make the scoring model dynamic to take into account inevitable situations like this which is why your overall score is based on the sum of many drives and one incident will not set you back. Please feel free to email us at streetsmartsupport@amica.com if you have additional feedback to share. Thank you again.

It's good to have this app.
I do not understand many aspects of scoring.
Breaking, speeding ( is there a consideration for have road with slope or do you go strictly with " speed limit"
More analysis of each items will enable to improve driving. If add a line how to improve...
  • It WORKS

I like it. At first, I thought it would be too pedantic or too sensitive. However, it’s fair and it rewards people who drive well. You won’t like it if you’re a bad driver who speeds, talks on the phone, and breaks hard. However, if you’re a good driver and you drive gently, you’re going to love it. It makes you think before you do something and therefore it’s proactive. I like it.

  • Great Insurance Driving App!

I was hesitant to enroll in StreetSmart at first because of my prior knowledge associated with similar apps and the opposite desired effect on your rates. As another reviewer has said, this is a FAIR app regarding grading performance. However, I have several areas where this app could be approved. I find the hard braking parameter is triggered if the phone is not 100% stable during driving (ex., flimsy phone mount, having the phone in a wireless charger cubby, driving a car with floaty suspension like a Lincoln Town Car). Two, when redeeming a reward amount, it would be nice to have the option of entering a custom amount instead of having strictly $5 intervals. For example, if you have $19 in rewards, $4 of that is not redeemable. Overall, it's a great app that needs just the tiniest of fine tuning.

  • New to app

Wow! This app has made me even more aware of the different speed zones. Not that I speed, however the difference between 35 and 45 could mean a life! Thank you for showing me areas of strength and areas I need to pay more attention to.
