I cook every day

I cook every day but my lack of knowledge is quite astounding. This App is quite entertaining. I have had some ‘really?’ moments. It has certainly helped me to understand better the how and the why. The recipes are quite tasty. Hopefully with a deeper understanding of what’s going on some of my dishes will be just that little bit better. I would definitely recommend it for those who are just starting to learn to cook.

Nice idea, nice design but poor execution

I liked the idea of the app but it really didn’t teach me anything. Lots of questions you got told they were wrong although the text admits you picked a correct answer, just not the one the app wanted you to pick. All the pictures & terms were very US-centric too, making this less useful for international users.

Very Helpful!!

The app has such an easy and approachable way to getting people into cooking! It’s currently in its early days and yet I feel like I’ve learnt so much already (bear in mind I have no experience whatsoever haha). I struggle so much with just starting due to anxiety, usually I’d feel so overwhelmed. But this app breaks down the basics, so far it’s helped me understand the how and why to cooking. There are so many helpful tips and tricks.

Can’t wait to try out the rest of the recipes and future ones too! :)

Terrible waste of time

This thing asks you to answer a bunch of mostly inane questions (why is a hamburger bun round?) that will not do anything but make a game out of trivia with the payoff being you “unlock” a recipe, as if that’s some reward. There is no learning material just the questions with cutesy answers. And these questions teach you nothing about cooking (true or false a tortilla is bread). This has all the hallmarks of an app built to sell an app rather than build an app that you believe is really useful. These types of apps sell you a lie that they can make difficult things easy, boring things fun, or laborious things fast. It’s mostly a lie. If you want to learn to cook look elsewhere. This dev uses sketchy marketing to promote the app, like making posts on Reddit as if they are an unrelated party asking if there is an app that teaches cooking and the full on promoting this app using a different account in answer to the question. Nothing but lies.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. You hit the nail on the head that we're trying to make cooking, something often perceived as "difficult, boring, and laborious", into something that is easy, fun, and even fast. It's not a simple mission ahead of us, and it's a ton of hard work—but we think it's worth it, for both people and the planet. As for the marketing, the honest truth is it's *really hard* to get new products out into the world, so we're just trying different avenues to share Parsnip. We're sorry we offended you and will do our best to be more straightforward in how we share the app with the world.

Really cool app

The team have done a really good job with this app. It’s helpful, easy to use and I’ve learned a few things from it.

Great app!

This is a cute little app. It is consistently updated, and occasionally i go in to see whats new. Ive learned a few things from their cute style of quizzes. overall it is worth the time (:

Some great info!

Lots of information presented in a fun way 😊

Really fun!

This is an intelligent cooking tutor and playful game all in one. I’m having a great time so far and learning a lot. Can’t wait to see more recipes!

More fun than I expected

At first hearing quizzes I wasn’t sure if I’d like it but I was actually learning a lot from the info. Plus there’s engaging questions so it’s fun to play

A great way to learn

Doing fun little quizzes at my own pace is really enjoyable and I can’t wait to try and make spaghetti & meatballs myself. My partner and I have been competing to see who knows more about cooking!
