Once Great, Now Paywalled
I used to love this app. It was my go-to resource for learning how to cook, offering a ton of recipes and step-by-step tutorials that made even the most complex dishes approachable. The video guides and lessons were incredibly helpful. I found myself using it whenever I had the chance.
However, everything changed when they introduced a paywall. The app went from being a treasure trove of free content to offering just five free recipes. This sudden shift felt like a betrayal to long-time users like myself who had grown to depend on its extensive recipe book.
While I understand the need for developers to monetize their efforts, the transition was handled poorly. There was no warning or gradual shift; it was an abrupt cutoff. The new subscription model might be reasonable, but the lack of communication and consideration for existing users left a bad taste in my mouth.
In summary, while the app still has great potential, the sudden implementation of a paywall with limited free content has significantly diminished its value. I hope the developers consider more user-friendly ways to balance monetization with accessibility. Until then, I’ll be searching for alternatives.

Amazing potential
I’m an absolute novice regarding cooking, so an app like this is a dream come true.
There is a paywall, but they need to make money somehow, and I prefer paying to watching adds.
The lessons are helpful, and I like the suggested recipes feature. It would be helpful if there was a ‘size’ option in the meals, because some of the beginner ones will be things like ‘a boiled egg’, little more than a snack, and ‘cooked pasta’ which I would assume is a full meal.
As an Australian, it is very obvious this app is made in America with a large American bias. Measuring cups are different here, which makes things difficult for a beginner. We do not have ‘marinara’ here as another example. Localisation would be amazing if the budget can afford that (for example, the closest we have to marinara would be ‘pasta sauce’).
Lastly, I’ve had at least one instance of confusion while reading recipes. In the ‘Mac and cheese’ recipe, a box of Mac and cheese is referenced. We don’t have boxes, so I’m curious if this refers to a single serve packet we have. Later in the same recipe, 225 grams of shredded cheddar is added to a bowl, then 70g to the pot, but it is never mentioned where the rest of the cheese should go (I added it all, way too cheesy, probably a rookie mistake, but the confusion didn’t help)
Overall, this has great potential, and with a bit of polish, and then some marketing, I think it has the potential to blow up.

Amazing
Has a pretty wide variety of food to choose from and i really like how you can adjust your preferences(as in how much effort you want to put in, rare ingredients etc) and it gives you recommendations! Overall a really nice app and also i love how it also has a grocery list 💗🫶
Unprofessional - but good recipes
I used to recommend this app to everyone I know. However, after months of use, they one day restricted my access to a paywall. I do not think this app is worth the cost and I think it is extremely unprofessional to turn it into a paid app and restrict access without warning. I think this app is a powerful tool and really changed my outlook on cooking and gave me the tools I needed to become comfortable in the kitchen. This app is a great recipe book and I enjoyed the recipes I learned to cook from all cultures on this app. I will truly miss this app, but I cannot support this unprofessional business model

Confidence builder
I just cooked my first meal and it was a hit!
I still had issues with some things, like my own distractibility. But, I think this will help my major cooking anxiety and I’ve already learned some helpful basics. The detailed shopping list with substitutions was so great. And the simplicity! Every step was broken down and there were several tiny how-to videos covering nearly every little question and insecurity I had as I cooked. I’m definitely looking forward to continuing the subscription.

More options please ..
Would be great if there was an option to cook gluten free please. Where’s the “how to videos”? A lot of reading files (I’ve my old recipe books for that 🤷🫣) was told I can follow along the videos , also as per your description… is it different for alternative countries ? USA / UK both English language.

Hi! If you click on the blue text in a recipe’s instructions, you’ll find a how to video :) Also we are working on getting a gluten free filter in the app!
Very helpful!
I was looking for a long time about an app that help me cook and not only show recipes. This app motivate me to learn more about cooking. Very easy to use and so helpful with portion and what to buy at the grocery store. For now there are limited number of recipes but they continue to add more and more. I took the annual subscription and it’s really worth the price.

Who knew I could cook!
I love this app. I have always suffered from analysis paralysis when it comes to cooking which made me have zero confidence in the kitchen. This app tells me exactly what to do and explains the techniques in an easy to digest way. My family now looks forward to when I cook!
A few minor things I wish the app had though -
1. The ability to see when I cooked a recipe. I often have to heart recipes I want to cook later. It would be great to know if/when I actually cooked it, OR have the ability to also bookmark recipes.
2. Functionality to add notes to recipes so I can go back and see which ones were fan favorites and anything I learned during it.
3. The ability to sort recipes by level. I love the various categories but would like to see which ones are at my skill level easily.
All in all this app has changed my life and has made cooking fun. I highly recommend!!

Amazing!! There’s an update coming out today that adds a “Recently cooked” list to the Discover/Explore page. And all of the other things are actually in our product backlog! ❤️
Best cooking app ever!
I used to despise the very thought of home cooking however this app has really opened my eyes into what’s possible with even the simplest of ingredients. The interface is beautiful & incredibly easy to use, and the recipes always taste incredible!
I love how the app includes concept modules that allow you to learn not just what to do for each recipe but WHY you’re doing it as well, this allows you to use these skills with any other dish you want to make in the future.
The app makes meal planning incredibly easy by combining all ingredients needed into one handy shopping list, and it also gives potential substitutions if you can’t find/don’t have any of the ingredients.
Hats off to the developer(s)!
