Lost my notes
Ouch. I hadn’t typed much but suddenly the page went blank and the reappeared with everything I’d typed gone
This app is unusable
The app requires redesign and some thought put into using it on a mobile device, it’s very unintuitive. I am deleting it and will keep using on laptop.
Shoddy, unfortunately
I’ve been waiting like 1-2 years for Roam to finally create an iPad / mobile app and when they finally do its unfortunately quite a disappointment. I’d be a lot less tough on them if they weren’t charging $11 per month but at that price you really would expect a first-rate software product.
This feels like a web-app inside a mobile app (and indeed doesn’t show up in the app list on iPad). It is a nightmare to use with magic keyboard because the keys constantly stop working and you have to kill and restart Roam. The design / UX doesn’t feel finished. It works ok I guess but very disappointing considering how much I am paying for it

Not fit for purpose (yet?)
Roam is good, but not here. They shouldn’t have released this bug-ridden version to the public.
I’m trying to use it on my ipad and basic keyboard stuff (like typing!) doesn’t work properly. It’s worse than useless.

I just can’t recommend this right now
After waiting so long for Roam to deliver a usable mobile experience… this is not it.
Right now it’s worse than using mobile Safari and borders on unusable.
I’ll re-rate it if an when they fix the problems.

Plus one to the terrible external keyboard support
It is great Roam finally launch its native app. One caveat is the app is not usable on IPad Pro with Magic Keyboard.
Another external keyboard issue
Hey another external keyboard user. I’m also so happy to have a roam iOS app now but using roam and using my external keyboard are one in the same and now I can’t do this! Every delete command is met w exiting out of the typing state of the app instead of simply deleting the prior letter etc. PLEASE please please fix this soon :)

Response from developer
Hey, we've fixed this issue in recent updates, if you give it another try it should work now!
Not yet built for iPad
This is a very anticipated app for Roam Research. Sadly, this build seems very iPhone centric with iPad + keyboard being left behind. Basic physical keyboard functions such as delete and arrow keys are broken. Hopefully an update to address this is in the works.
Room for improvement
Roam in desktop is life changing. The mobile app is slow to load, cursor isn’t automatically activated, and the UI is uninspiring—looks too much like the desktop app. Does not have the native iOS feel to it.
That said, a few things are good: tagging entires is easier than what we had before with the quick capture. Searching seems to work well.

Not quite
Sadly this just doesn’t feel or behave like a native app. It just feels like the mobile version of the website inside of an app. The mobile site of Roam always had plenty of issues and many of them have been transferred over to the app, such as the judderyness of the UI and the slowness to launch. The slowness is okay on the desktop as once you’re ‘in’ Roam it stays live in your browser tab and you don’t have to relaunch it. On iOS however the Roam app often gets killed in the background – I’m guessing due to memory constraints – so relaunching is a common thing and the slowness becomes a burden. But the biggest problem remains just simply entering text. New bullet points don’t default to beginning with a capital letter, the toolbar that sits on top of the keyboard has a mind of its own and often hides what you’re writing and typing in general within the app just doesn’t feel pleasant in any way. Nothing’s smooth or responsive. Unfortunately the app offers few advantages over just having the Roam mobile site bookmarked on your Home Screen. That wouldn’t be a big issue if the mobile site was a joy to use, but it isn’t. I’m sure the Roam app will improve with time. But its current state and functionality is a bit disappointing :(
