  • Great idea, responsive developer

This is a great idea for an app, and the developer has been incredibly responsive to suggestions to support different peoples' workflow to get data in to the app. You should give it a try!

  • An absolute must have app for music lovers

I’ve been using one of Tanaka’s other apps, MusicHarbor, for years to keep up with new music from my favorite artists. This is another app that seems as though it was created for those who are most passionate about music.

This is an absolute must have app for music lovers.

Thanks for the review and for supporting MusicHarbor and MusicBox!
  • The app you never knew you needed

Nothing worse than finding an album to check out add it to your library so you don’t forget it only to listen and decide it’s not for you.

MusicBox allows you to ‘bookmark’ an album so you
come back to it later. This way you only add it to your library if you like it. Simple and well conceived worth every $ - in fact worth more!!

  • Can’t directly play Spotify from Musicbox

Atm targeted primarily to Apple Music users. But don’t understand inability to directly play a saved song in Spotify especially since this capability in the sister app Music Harbor. It is possible but have to use the indirect and janky Odesli service. Will upgrade my rating when Spotify properly integrated.

MusicBox supports adding albums and songs from both Spotify and Apple Music. Which specific Spotify feature are you missing?
  • Brilliant!

I knew I was missing this app, I just didn’t know how much I wanted it until I found MusicBox. Previously, I used a shortcut I built that sent the Apple Music link to a Reminders list I called Music to Check. It mostly worked, but I never liked having this in Reminders and I only got the link back to Music. With MusicBox I have a dedicated app, it shows me the full info of the song or album, I can sort and tag. And the smart search is perfect. I realised I haven’t been excited about a new app in years. This is what the App Store was like at the beginning. We’ll done to the dev!

  • Can’t play all

It’s a good idea and it’s a nicely designed app, but I can only play individual items and can’t play/shuffle all saved songs? This means it can’t replace the playlist I currently use to save music for later. This makes it not useful for me & I won’t be using it.

    Developer Response

I understand your frustration, but MusicBox was not designed to be a music player. One feature you may like, though, is the ability to create a playlist from a tag. Just tap and hold a tag and choose Create Playlist. You will then be able to play this playlist using the Music app.
  • Very Handy!!

Very handy and user friendly! Hoping this will integrate with MusicHarbor in the near future!

  • Marcos does it again!

I could end this review after one line: if you like MusicHarbor and know how much love Marcos puts in his apps, please buy MusicBox.

This is my app of the year. It completes the iOS / iPadOS / macOS music app ecosystem. Apple Music gives us access to unlimited music. MusicHarbor helps us keep up with favourite artists and labels. MusicBox helps us “gather” everything that’s new in easy to digest collections.

I could go into more detail but better writers have done reviews (MacStories). This app is a must buy for music lovers.

  • Been testing this in beta - it’s a top app

Love this. I love music but I often add a bunch of albums to my library and then lose track of them. This app is what I’ve needed.

I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for the review!
