Such an innovate idm app!

This app is one a a kind with interesting visuals that really integrate with the idm glitch sounds. Amazing.

Fantastic

Trying to express in written word what star waves does would never do it justice. I’ve been releasing electronica and techno since my teens in the 90s and the pursuit of new sonic experiences is also my academic concern. I’m never totally gobsmacked...... BUT.every SonicLab is an exception, jaw dropping!

A Good Start

This app has a huge amount of potential, and the sounds it can create are nothing short of extraordinary. However, it also has some serious issues that limit its usefulness. First, its navigation in 3D space is a bit clunky, to which I would suggest a set of small controls at the bottom of the 3D space specifically to make moving around the space without interacting with the sound generators much easier. I am on a 12.9” iPad Pro, and still have trouble navigating the 3D space effectively. It is not terrible, but it can be frustrating sometimes. Second, the app does NOT play well with others. Getting sound into other apps for use in compositions or other musical arrangements is a pain. The fact that the app is not a plug-in, and there is no InterApp audio (which I understand is being phased out by Apple), means you need to go through WAY too many steps to move the sound to other apps. This can really interrupt the flow of music production. If the dev can sort these issues out, the app is an easy 5 star musical gem. At the moment, the app sits somewhere between a novel musical toy and a truly powerful sound design platform, although it would not take much work to get it firmly into the later. I hope the developer gives this one some attention, as their apps are all absolute gems.

Hopefully Starwaves will grow in the future

Crashes a lot on my 1st Gen iPad Pro. Code not very efficient. Does not save state and does not support playing in the background. The developer puts the concept to pretty good use. Animoog/Z pioneered the concept. The physical interaction is rudimentary and difficult to control at times because you can’t realistically model three dimensional space in two dimensions as far as a user’s physical interaction. That said there is a lot of subtlety in the basic controls provided. My biggest disappointment is that Starwave will not play in the background! That, considering the self-playing Starwaves can do, was a surprise. The whole preset handling window is way too small with real small, hard to read font. Only 16-bit WAV file samples are supported. What did convince me to buy Starwaves was it’s 52-page user manual! Good job. $9.99 for more skins is way to expensive. The choice not to add AUv3 support, the sales would be higher. The potential is amazing.

Have the latest gen iPad Pro I’m a musician been playing business since 1984…Don’t think I’ll even use this for anything sadly. Enjoy yer $9 bucks…This seems like a scam.

I’m sorry you couldn’t find any use for your specific music. But calling it a scam is pure calumny. It’s clearly a new type of software and embraces a new paradigm in music making. Have you checked the tutorial videos ? Read the manual ?

Does not work

paid for this and it crashes on opening, website support page does not work. Brilliant guys, give me a refund or check your product works i have all listed minimum requirements I think you should have checked your product better this is shocking and a rip off, I want my money back.

Never seen or heard case where the app does not open and crashes right at launch. ( and there have been 100s ). The contact page is working, and everyone is being answered. Nobody rips off anyone, so better calm down when choosing your words on a public media. This is a clear act of defamation. Regarding the refund, we are sure that Apple will be happy to refund you.

Almost perfect

Once the stability is there, you’ll be much closer to perfection. The only other addition I’d like to see is the ability to use this with AUM.

Potential to be great

Unable to recommend this. Absolutely brilliant concept however it constantly crashes on iPad and unable to save anything renders this useless I am afraid. Have requested a refund. It’s a shame this is not a vst plug in.

I'm sorry for your experience. This is mostly linked with your iPad version, I assume you did not check the recommendations (?). Also, you can actually save states (which themselves save cameras, platforms, and emitters positions, as well as their associated synth engines settings), morph between them... you can also perform a "general" save of all these sub-presets (and their sequence) within a single preset... and you can record the output, there is a dedicated button for this. Be sure to check the tutorial vids and/or the written manual. It won't be a VST, but you can fully enjoy the experience on a recent Mac (specs in the App description), will nearly full MIDI/OSC connectivity. The Windows version is coming as well.
