Spectacular

I have just started this journey and feel like this is something worth doing!

Good so far

I’ve used the app a few times and I can already see some improvement. I think there is potential for large improvements over time.

Very, very interesting!

Hello,

I was immediately taken into a dream like state and was intrigued. Somehow, it hit the spot at the present moment, so I went with it.

The voice is incredible! I love the set up and the way everything moves. Just fascinating!

Enjoying This So Far

As someone who is struggling with bipolar disorder and is blind, I'm really liking this app. I like the immersive audio and sound effects, and how it engages my other senses to help teach me these skills. Some more labels for VoiceOver (Apple's screen reader) would be helpful, but that is my only feedback. As I'm only on my second day, I may update my written review to reflect how well the techniques worked. What I can say is after my Relay Race", I was able to get more done at work and on a Friday afternoon.

This app is truly amazing, but…

There is one thing that would make it a rating of 10 stars if that was possible:

1. Playlist tab to the right side of the self-care tab

~All episodes could be sectioned into their groups (under the playlist tab) how they already are currently in the app.

~At first, everything under the tab ‘Playlist/s’ possibly would be locked until the user unlocks them one by one. Once they listen to an episode once, the same could then be unlocked under the playlist section.

~An option to create playlists and/or add to playlist would be amazing too.

*If simplicity is key, it would be spectacular to even just have a playlist tab and, as each episode is completed, an option forever arises to add them to the playlist. A playlist that automatically plays the next episode. Because I sure would like to clean house and other things while the episode’s subconsciously imprint in my brain. Believe it or not, that happens. At least it would be positivity and not negative.

A different approach

This was different. It wasn’t just logic and teaching, I’ve been doing all that stuff for years, and while that has been helpful, this is a different way of going into your mind and body at the same time and really forming new neurological pathways. Or so it seems!

Fun and different

Today is the second day, it’s a nice resource.

Not for those with trauma

If you have a history of trauma, PTSD, or Complex PTSD, this app is not a good fit. The questions they ask in the beginning don’t really reflect your experience well. I still tried to listen to 2 stories but had to stop both of them. The first story had sound effects of someone running with their breathing and heartbeat getting faster and faster (like running for your life sounds) and the second one was a scenario where you’re the animal trying to avoid a Hunter who is after you. Both of these triggered terrible flashbacks. I’m sure this might be ok for people without trauma, but there should def be some kind of warning for those of us who are already suffering enough.

Response from developer

Thank you for the detailed review. We're sorry to hear about your experience. We really should add a warning, and we will do it soon, you are absolutely right. The Hero's Way program is designed specifically for the rapid development of psychological skills and coping strategies. With such intensive work, it can provoke vivid and intense memories. However, activation of memories allows to work through the situation more quickly and end the trauma, at the expense of entering the active phase. Nevertheless, we recommend a consultation with your therapist. For softer work with trauma - there are a large number of mini-programs, depending on how it manifests in your life. For example, for depression, anxiety, finding psychological supports, self-esteem, self-acceptance, etc.
