I can never get it to work.
I can't get a safari or a chrome extent I on on my Ipad. The app does not work. It is very frustrating because I have absolutely loved reading with bionic reader on my desktop (when the extention would work there, which was hit and miss….by the way). This app, though, is horrendous. I will not convert a web link to a research article. It will upload the article but will not do anything with it. Tried it out on a few other sites just to see if it was some sort of stupid block on the article itself and it converts half of the website and not all the text or just converts nothing. When I click on “process” or “continue” whatever pops up, it takes me to a blank white screen, and that little symbol on the app page (arrow pointing up) that says I need to be a premium member to access, leads nowhere. I don't even know what it does! Is it a share symbol? The hidden secret to make the app work? When I try to see what “premium”is all about, it again, takes me to a blank white page. My adhd brain gives up. I would pay to make this work on my tablet! Name your price! I have no more hyperfixation energy left in me to trouble shoot this. Nadia. It's take 2 hours of my life. Please let me know when this works again or works finally?

It does not convert most PDFs accurately, even when not protected; and it does not convert most epub files either. It would be less useless if they actually worked on having different file formats available but they don’t. And do not be tricked by their advertising being able to do PDFs; you can download but not upload the files. When I requested a refund, they said they’re “working on bugs” but these are not bugs, just false advertising.
Terrible product. ADHD readers are better and less

I use the chrome extension and it works fine however the app is horrible. Despite paying the 17 cad for the month, it still says that I need to upgrade ……useless. Reached out to their contact but did not receive a response.Tarrrraa

Let’s see if the review magically sticks this time. This pricing scheme is exploitative and prohibitive to the very disabled people it’s supposed to help. People with disabilities already bear extra expenses that are increasingly difficult to afford in this world. I cannot think of a logical reason for a recurring fee structure, especially an expensive one, except greed. Greed off the backs of those least able to bear the extra expenses. Shame on you all.
Edit: my review was published under someone else’s name and account, so the mealy mouthed answer about the “needing different subscriptions did not come to me. And that response is ludicrous. There are simple design choices that could solve where and when advertisements show up, and ignores the fact that a flat fee for the app is still a PAID subscription and should mean few to no ads anyway. So it is YOUR design choices and financial desires (ie GREED) driving this (awful) subscription model. Nice try.Show lessDolphinNWO

That’s why we decided to use this model. You can use it for free. But if you like more features, there are even ways to customize your subscription. We think this is fair for everyone. I signed in via Apple and attempted to upgrade my subscription through the app. Apple processed my payment and the App Store shows I have an active subscription. However, the Bionic App itself will not recognize my subscription and is still prompting me to upgrade. I signed out and back in a few times, hoping that would refresh it, but no luck. Wasted money. I have paid for premium plus and it wont let me upload any files or pdfs or read anything that isnt free. Keeps telling me to upgrade my plan but I have already bought the premium plusThripty

Works quite well for readability but the free version is useless because of the small character limit of about one paragraph/
if I have to read one paragraph of text I’ll just read it as is rather than go to the effort of copying pasting into the app -
It is very expensive for what it is too - $200aud a year? To bolden a few letters in text - my advice to the makers is make it a few bucks max because it is such an easy piece of software to copy - someone will make a free version onlineShow lesssweeneyyoung

Paid for the premium account but there’s a bug that won’t let me access any of the features. It continuously says I’m on the basic package but when I try to upgrade it says I’ve already upgraded.Katied790

Really disappointed in the performance of this app. I paid for the premium pro plan (which I have since cancelled) and was very excited to see that they made this app available to individuals.
When I went to convert my EPub file it only picked up and converted every 5 words into bionic format, leaving most of the document in regular font. I made sure to play with the settings, turn off and on the types of words… nothing worked. So I decided to convert the EPUB into a .docx file… same thing, did not work. Lastly, I converted that into a .txt file… still did not work and was only converting about every 5th word even with the fixation and saccade turned all the way up. Maybe I was missing an important step? But I am pretty sure I wasn’t. Hopefully, there is some trouble shooting trick I can try.
Ultimately, this font/application of this font needs to be built into consumer products (accessibility option within apple/android settings; font option on the Kindle/newspaper apps, etc.), rather than consumer converting the media they want to consume into this font.Show lessellsthomps

I really want to love this app but I’m finding the free version has too few abilities to really evaluate it. The app does seem to be buggy. Fails to covert a web page but the next day converts the same page in a snap. On one webpage it put text like this in frequently: “(BC>BC
I assume that’s errors from formatting. All this makes me hesitant to buy a subscription just to test it out.
