What's New in 1bit

1.1.0

October 5, 2026

Thanks for using 1bit! We've been reading all your feedback. Hers's what's new in 1.1 - Pin your other apps. You can now add the external apps you still need to the launcher, from settings ▸ other apps. A pin can be a link, a phone number or a Shortcuts shortcut. A short walkthrough shows you how the first time, and your pins can also go in the launcher widget. - Browser settings. The web start screen now has a settings page. It shows what the browser keeps, lets you clear history, cookies and site data, or everything at once, and can clear all of it every time you leave. Clearing history now really starts you fresh. - A calmer web. The address bar slides away while you read and comes back when you scroll up. We've also improved popup blocking in the browser. - Contacts. A contact now shows every number, email and address. Tap one to copy it, or open an address in maps. - Podcasts. Search now finds shows as you type. Find podcasts now opens on a clean screen. The sleep timer counts down on screen and you can cancel it there. - Clock. Each alarm in the list now shows its label. - Maps. Distances now use your local units. - Lot of other small bug fixes and improvements.

User reviews

1bit

Love the esthetic of this launcher, even on having a organizer; PDA, on your own smartphone is a plus for nostalgic reasons. Playing all around every corner to unlock the other easter eggs I read from the developer on Reddit.

Response from developer

Thanks for the review. Glad you’re enjoying the app. More Easter eggs to come 🤭

It’s Amazing !

I genuinely really like the app. The look is super interesting, keeps the essentials and relatively easy to set up. I only had an issue getting my already downloaded music from my files into the app but other than that I’m really enjoying it!

Response from developer

Thanks for the review! ❤️ Glad you’re enjoying the app. The music import can be tricky, hope you got it working. Feel free to reach out if you need any assistance.

Total-Recall-Nostalgia

Love this concept and this reminds me of the good old days when tech was pure fun. I love the maps and web app specifically for that nostalgic recall of reading the article in a ‘typewriter-esque’ visual.
Few suggestions, can you add features such as ad-blocker and also the ability to remove the bottom and top menu to gain more real estate when reading in the web app, even read mode does not offer full screen text I believe
Can we add more apps to the list or array as a pointer to apps outside of 1bit apps if possible
Customize 1bit maps units from KM to Miles.
Add 1bit weather app.
Possibly also arrange apps (1bit + external apps), with the pixelated icons in addition to the list view. (not sure it it is already available and if I missed it, as I am just starting out and find ways around.)

Response from developer

Thanks for the review and the really great feedback. ❤️ Check out the latest version. Most of your wishes are there, including launching external apps, better browser experience, local maps units, and more. We’ll see about the weather app ;)

Great fun, and quite functional!

Older millennials will appreciate the click wheel interface, newer generations will get to experience the magic of doing more with less.

Response from developer

I feel like I see myself in this review. ;)
