Why the Twitter/X integration?
Honestly, it was very disheartening to see that you guys still have Twitter integration built into your app. SSO, just for starters.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to question this, given what’s happening in our country. By supporting Twitter/X, you are enabling, legitimizing, and normalizing some very unsavory people. Heck, even Musk himself is blowing his dog whistle and pointing it at IGN game journalists.
What’s most interesting is that historically, those groups and individuals are the same people who hate-watch your content and decry things like DEI or basic human decency. Most people, including the majority of your hosts and writers, have abandoned Twitter. But all those hoards of former gamer gaters sure do love it.
If you work at IGN and you willingly participate in corporate mandated rationalizations of Twitter integrations, what does that say about you as a human? How does it not ultimately taint you in some way?
