  • Great application!!!

I am Chinese and I speak Chinese fluently, however, I can't nearly write chinese as well. This is a great program for learning chinese in any type of context. When you search for a word, various answers come up, all with pin ying (pronounciation). My only wish for this program is to be able to save words I've looked up into a sort of personal word bank. It would also be great if we were able to quiz ourselves with the words in our wordbank in some type of game. For a simple dictionary/translation engine, this is by far the best - and free!

  • Works well but slow to load

As far as I've seen, good to even descent iPhone dictionaries hare hard to find. This I think for a native English speaker is your best bet. For the price I can't find anything better.
  • Excellent

I've been using this program for two weeks now and I love it. There are other Chinese dictionaries here on the apple store, and this one is by far the best. All it needs is audio translation and it would be perfect. I'm living in China for three months and this has Been help to type in Chinese, since this app has Pinyin. :)

  • Very useful

For someone just learning Chinese, this is very useful. Turn on the iPhone international keyboard, and you can use it to practice memorizing and writing Chinese charcters also!
  • Great En <~> ChT / ChS dict app!!!

Being looking for one and found this; it's really good cuz it covers translations both ways, and in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese characters. Excellent!

In my opinion it works much better than WeDict app which covers only one way translation from En to ChS, and in ChS only without ChT.

    * BTW I tried inputting Chinese characters using Japanese keyboard for Kanji and it also worked ;-) Excellent!!!

  • Great program

I'm really excited to have this dictionary on my iPod. One small problem is that my simplified characters seem to come up where the display says "traditional." And vice-versa. It's not a big deal for me because I can easily recognize the difference. Just letting you know. But thanks for the great app!

  • Great App for Students, Now More than Ever

Thank you for this fantastic app. Problems I mentioned in an earlier version of this review have been corrected in one way or another: The tops of the characters on the results list are no longer cut off, plus the size of their display is controllable so we can better see their strokes--wonderful! The program still always starts up in English search mode, regardless of whether the user normally looks up Chinese, but now a search for hanzi will proceed normally even the program is in English search mode, so this is not a problem. This is a tool every Chinese language students should have, because it will do the same job as stand-alone electronic dictionaries which cost hundreds of dollars--and it is free!

  • Great Dictionary app

Thanks for all the hard work that went into making this iPhone app. It is something that I will be using everyday on my iPhone.
  • Extremely pleased!

This is a great app! Thanks so much! I did have one suggestion: is there anyway to have the ability to correctly pronounce the Chinese and English word. I specifically could use it for the Chinese pronounciation. Is that at all possible?
  • Great start!

I'm so glad this app is out and free! Overall, it's great, but there are a few things that will make this a 5 star app for me. Like another reviewer said, the tops of the Chinese characters are cut off. Another issue is the translation from Chinese to English. The dictionary doesn't give the best, most straight-forward translation in the first few choices given and the actual translation I'm looking for is usually hidden somewhere toward the end. "Dian hua", for example, should very logically point to "telephone", but the first half of the choices are all longer phrases with "dian hua" in it. The app also doesn't seem to recognize pinyin without the tone markings, so I have to search "dian4 hua4" rather than just "dian hua", which most other translation software can deal with. Overall, a great job, and I look forward to updates that correct these issues!
