Couldn't ask for a better app!

I use this app religiously everyday for my business. I cannot think of a better tool to have for tracking and entering time on projects. The ability to know how much money I am going to make, at any given moment on any project, is fantastic. I love being able to create my invoices and email them out right from my phone. I also purchased their module called "Timewerks Data Sync", which ensures all my data is backed up and safe. "Save2PDF" is another app I use in conjunction with Timewerks to merge all my PDF invoices into one for easy emailing to clients. Easily deserves 5 stars, as their support is bar none as well. Thanks for making my life easier!

Suggest hold off on getting update

I've used this app for a long time, it's great, we do all our time tracking and primary billing using it. I've previously rated it a 4 or 5, with this update now rated a 3.

As an update (for existing users), it introduces a couple new bugs and adds nothing, not even existing bug fixes or new features (that I can find) other than the data sync feature which appears to be a paid ($25/year) in-app module purchase where it (best as I can tell) offers (through their website) what most other apps offer for free (through iCloud) which is syncing data between devices. The visual appearance (colours, background, framing of objects) of the app has changed, but not the location/position/etc of items on a screen. The previous look is not available as an option (it should be) and though there are a couple things about the new look that I do like, overall, I don't like new general appearance, the artsy aged brown paper look (I prefer a more clean, professional look, like before); that is of course up to everyone's personal preference. One new bug is that the app is now very sluggish, when screens change/slide, it always flickers/stutters, and sometimes it hesitates and pauses for a moment, unlike before (and all other apps) where a screen wipes beautifully and quickly to the next). Closing all other background apps and restarting the phone (3GS in this case) didn't fix this, and it does not happen in any other app I use (I use my phone more like a portable computer than a phone). Another new bug is that it now crashes occasionally (never did before), even when just going to view entries previously made. Fortunately, with various backups, I was able to switch back to the previous version of this app, glad I did, and I'll wait for a future update to this app, but I won't use this one.

If you don't already have this app, this is a great app for tracking time and expenses/items, and invoicing (if you wish, I do), better and more efficient than any other similar app I've tried over the years. Though the screen shots don't really show enough, it organizes clients, projects (within clients) and the rest extremely well, and has a very efficient way of entering time, expenses, items which is really the key to an app not becoming tedious and frustrating to use throughout the day. There are a few inefficiencies and flaws, but once you learn those, you can work with them.

There are a few bugs and issues to be aware of (still to be fixed some day), like the totals being wrong on some screens after invoicing (they correct after the app is existed/restarted), and annoying things like the billing item 'choser' still being needlessly narrow so you are really unable to tell what item you are picking because you can only see a very small part of the name. Other things like setting the billing time increment (e.g. to bill in increments of 10 minutes) only works when you manually enter times, but using the timer/etc does not round to nearest 10 minutes (I always have to go in and manually readjust the time to get it to match the increment). You also wind up with odd total numbers off by pennies because of the way it rounds/stores things (e.g. even when entering time manually, entering entering exactly 20 minutes @ $120/hour bills $39.60, not $40 as it should be). There are other bugs/issues too, but these are the main practical ones to be aware of. At first I thought these calculation flaws to be totally unacceptable (and some, like the last, there is no way to work around or manually adjust), and the fact is that the app is inaccurate in these ways, which is scary for a time and billing app, but it is pretty close, and it is still the best (compromise) app of this type I've tried.

Hopefully bugs (many of which have been there for a long time, still not fixed), the problems/issues above, a choice of screen background (not just burnt brown paper), begin able to turn off the clicking sound when viewing item details (which also has a bug related to it), and using free iCloud (like most other apps) to sync (even if it is a paid add-on, not a yearly subscription, come on guys) will be in the near future.

Not much for the money

It's only $3, but this has some fatal flaws for me. First, clients and projects do not sync, only work items and invoices. And the sync is not bidirectional. I add a new work item on the website, and it makes it down to iPhone. I delete the item from iPhone, and it remains on the website, but not on the iPhone. Kludgey.

As I said, clients and projects added to the iPhone do not make it to the website, or to other mobile devices. Apparently they are mobile device only. I don't like that at all. Mobile devices are for adding time, and one offs, not major app maintenance.

The data export feature crashed the app, and my desktop browswer could not access the CSV files it displayed after linking. Fail.

The web site is extremely simplistic, and since there is so little functionality there, they made everything large so it wouldn't seem empty. How about more features, instead, like client and project sync. Just sayin'.

Overall, $3 isn't much. In iTunes world, however, it promises more than this app delivers. I'm not crying over $3, but you might want to look elsewhere. I'm looking at Time Master next, since Cashboard apparently has no iOS app.

Disappointing

Convoluted and unbelievably poorly organized. Having said this, there is a slight chance this app might work to an average degree with select professions. Test the lite version in advance (as I, in a lapse of judgement, did not)

Useless

I'm so lost with this app! I have no idea how to use it. I can't customize the invoice and the invoice format looks cheap. Can't remove unwanted items from the invoice like discount. It's always there beside tax. I wish I could refund apps!

Best ever

I have a plumbing company I use this to invoice my customers, I have all my products in the work list.
My invoices come out itemized
The clients live it

I am in love with this App!!!!

I do a lot of travel and hate having to carry a laptop just so that I can give estimates and bill customers. This was my answer to airport security aggravation I just have my iPhone to put in the bin and I have everything that I need. Timewerks is straight forward and easy to understand and I can export to my computer for putting into my excel spreadsheet at home. I have suggested it to about thirty others. Try the lite version and I believe you will buy the full version!

A Great App. Could use a couple of tweaks.

I've used TimeWerks for a couple of years. It has served me well. The only things I'd change are on the invoices. When I was working at 3 different sites, the sites were named in the title, but the time hours below weren't identified by the job. My client wanted to know how to bill that time out, so we had to do some digging. He's required that I submit an Excel spreadsheet. Also, I have a customer that wants to see my hours, not just the total for the day. So, I end up listing these things every day in the Note field. Small things, but something I must do every day, and this has spun into duplicating effort with spreadsheets because of it.

Great App!

Works perfectly for my part time consulting business! Takes 2 minutes to total up my time, and my customer can have the invoice before I leave!

Extremely helpful for tracking different clients

I love this app and it was worth every penny. I am sure some software to do the same would have been hundreds. Very intuitive, and when I did have a question, I got immediate support that resolved my question. What I like:
-it tracks separate clients
-I can use multiple billing rates for different services for all clients
-I can add in expenses and track mileage
-I can use the timer to add time, or manually add it in, and yes you can go back to prior dates when you forget.
-The best is that you can create invoices and email the pdf, with your company name, info and logo straight from this app
-You can track payments
-There are other functions related to taxing and discounts that I do not use, but are there.
In sum - great app, use everyday and worth the money. This was a life saver for starting my own business. Thanks!
