Unable to download catch up programmes
This app is quite good to use and I very much like being able to download the LBC programmes when I’m unable to listen to them live. However, the option to download only allows this to happen if there is a WiFi connection, and does not allow one to use 4G to do so. Granted, the programmes are around 60MB in size but some people have substantial monthly data allowances and so the app should at least give people the option of downloading using WiFi versus mobile data. If this function existed, then the app is worth 4 stars. It doesn’t get 5 as there are sometimes some difficulties with connection.

Won’t let me re-download podcast
On the weekends I download Maajid Nawaz’s show so I can listen to it at work during the week. He had podcast during this week which failed to download and there is now way to try and download them again!! I deleted the show thinking I could do it that way but no such luck. I tried everything to no avail 😓.

Do any of the developers actually use the app?
I work in IT. I manage developers. I know they are brilliant but they ain't often practical! 1) finding downloads when one isn't searching catch up is impossible. Downloads need to be a perm option at the bottom 'menu' bar. 2) why the heck does the app start playing as soon as you open it??? Stop it! Sometimes one is not in an environment where one wants no sound but one wants to download something for later 3) I just don't get the "go to LBC" button when I thought the whole app is LBC?? Rename it "Global" if you intend to add more stations.
4) when one downloads a program and gets play in the middle of the screen it fails. Only works if press play at the bottom
Pathetic and no reflection on the radio station

Broken App
A heads up to others: using this app constantly causes my iPhone to lock up and soft reboot. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it a number of times and it’s the same issue. The content of the app is good, but it ain’t worth having the phone grind to a halt and reboot a few times per day.
Recent changes cause iPhone freeze when running alongside other apps
Have listened to LBC since its inception, making me more long-term than Steve Allen. Now living abroad, which means the app is a bit of a lifeline. Like the girl with the curl, when it’s good, it’s very good etc. If using as background and want to run another app, very often repeated buffering occurs or the phone freezes. Sometimes an auto reboot occurs, whilst at other times a hard reset is necessary. Tedious and frustrating, to say the least. Circumstances this end have not changed, but the app has had a reincarnation from the provider end.

A step backwards. Very Poor App
This app is a huge step backwards. I used to listen to LBC podcasts all the time but this app has driven me away. The stupid idea of only keeping the shows for a week is beyond belief, a huge amount of people who often too busy and do not have time within a week to listen to the shows, many like myself, saved my podcasts for weekends or holidays. The option of paying not to have to listen to the ads has been removed many people were extremely happy to pay this fee. Lastly my iPod touch which works perfectly with every other podcast I have ever tried is not longer supported by LBC. What are Global thinking of, they appear to by trying hard to lose listeners even listeners who were even happy to pay extra. Poor app, poorly thought out.

No more subscriptions
It’s a shame that the subscription service has ended as I had some great shows I saved , for some reason now the show stops when I come out of the app or I put my phone into lock mode, maybe it’s awaiting an upgrade , still a great app as the Heart 80s part is brilliant , just wish I could get my saved episodes of LBC back, the day George Michael died were the episodes I kept so was gutted to lose .
Apart from that global is still the best.
Thanks
UPDATE ... The issue wasn’t the app, the issue was my iPhone , switched on and off and all is good .

App worse than old Podcast app
I used to subscribe and pay for LBC Podcasts. Although the app had a few annoying glitches (such as not always picking up where you left off), you could at least listen ‘on demand’ with no adverts.
With this new LBC approach, everyone can get LBC podcasts without paying. However, you now hear the entire show, including every ad break. As I live overseas they are not relevant to me so every 10 minutes I have to forward through the ads!
To add insult to injury, they have also now started an overlay of video ads randomly when you open the app.
LBC - please give listeners the option of paying monthly again for podcasts with no adverts. I’d happily pay again for this if I had the choice.

Pretty handy on the whole
Admittedly I only make use of the app to listen to the live broadcasts, rather than any of the catch up or podcast features. Though in just that capacity, the app is very good. You can easily connect and start listening as easily as you could on a music streaming app.
It fills a gap you perhaps didn’t realise you had in your radio listening capabilities - taking out your phone and being able to connect straight away and play it through an external media player in a quicker way than safari or chrome do.
One minor gripe I have, and the reason for the shortage of one star is a slight nuisance in the ads. I appreciate the need for advertisement in apps, but it’s not particularly cleverly done here. As you begin to play a broadcast your ears are barraged by the sound of both the broadcast and an ad simultaneously. Thankfully you can skip the ad after 10 seconds and if weren’t for the jarring double playback this would be a perfectly reasonable way to present an advert before a broadcast.
As I say, on the whole pretty useful!
