  • Great App

I've been reading this factbook for 2 years now and it never stops getting updates and remains extremely useful. It would be interesting to see if they could add a Human Development Index section or some other universal indicators of development other than gross output.
  • Very Good

I am very pleased with this app, and if you rated this five stars also, you might receive a small present in cash soon. You probably will not, because I have a lot of things to remember, and you are not on my list of priorities. Again, this app is very good, and you should watch your mail if you rated this five stars.

PS: This prize, if I remember it, will come from Barack, not me.

  • Pretty awesome

I have to say that this is a very useful and interesting app! There is a wealth of information here, with all the latest stats and facts regarding every country you can imagine and many I didn't even know existed! All of the data is up to date and covers areas that I wouldn't have expected but are very interesting to know about, for example it lists all the major environmental treaties and agreements to which a particular country is a member, all transnational disputes between nations are covered, it even contains information regarding drug smuggling operations. The whole app is simple to use and fast. More like this please!

  • Great tool

I've always liked the CIA factbook website, and this app contains all the information from the website. No internet connection needed. And the developers update it all the time, not just once a year, so you always get up-to-date information.
  • nice presentation of a great data source

The CIA World Factbook is an excellent reference tool, and there are lots of apps in the App Store that are built around it. This one in particular has an attractive user interface, although there is still room for a few improvements:

    1) The 'default' view should be the list of countries, not the first country that you ever navigated to in the app. And the list of countries should display without the search keyboard for easy browsing -- the keyboard should only pop-up when the user taps in the search field.
    2) It would be nice if the maps were zoomable in order to read some of the small print. For example, look at the map of the European Union.
    3) A zoomable/scrollable map view of the world would be a great way to navigate to a particular country entry. The app called "The World (Country Factbook)" does a great job with this feature (although it's missing some other key features like rankings).

  • Some bugs??

Some bugs or just not a smooth working app...keeps defaulting to a country that I erased &have not bookmarked .... Also in search mode I cannot just manually scroll through the countries WITHOUT the keyboard taking up half of the screen - Very Frustrating; both of these problems.... Good database But would Not buy again!!! Seems like these problems could be fixed!?!?!? Oh also, no instructions if in case I am missing something !!!

  • Good app, just one small thorn

The app seems to be loaded with great info about any country you might want to explore. The one quibble I have is when using the Google maps you can't get back to the app from there (unless I'm missing something). You have to exit the app and re-open it to get out of Google maps. Otherwise, I like the amount of info available and it seems to be well-organized.

  • Needs a Proper World Map

    1) The "World" map is a joke. It looks like it was made by a first grader. What kind of geography app has such a basic world map. Drastic improvement needed. Make it so continents can be clicked on, zoomed in on to show countries, states, cities etc. so when u do click on an area already represented by a flag icon from the list it would open that page. This would drastically improve the app interface.

    2) It was mentioned before... Lose the keyboard pop up until we touch the search bar as it takes up 50% of the screen and it's extremely annoying.

  • Awesome

This app is FANTASTIC for anyone curious about our world, and downright INDISPENSABLE for those who care about it. More useful and takes up far less space than that 99 cents in your pocket.

I would still love to see a feature allowing you to swipe left and right between multiple selected countries for easy comparison of facts and stats.

  • love it but!!

i love this app its a simple and a great concept, of course there a web site or more that provid the same info but what is better than getting a lot of info about any country in the world right at the tip or your fingers. i 've been using it daily, you meet somebody from some where and quickly get some info from your iphone, so you can look smart. However i think it could be made much better if you they can enclose name of the head of each state and possibly a picture, moreover it dose not give you any info about pop culture and what is this country famous for. or the name of famous inventors, artiest, politions and so forth, for that reason i will give only 4 stars rating
