  • Soft keyboard = space waster

Another update: just downloaded the update. STILL, the soft keyboard remains. Please give us the option to call up the keyboard when we touch the search bar. WHY waste all that screen real estate? It's unintuitive and, frankly, starting to seem kind of lazy. Do you not know how to implement this?
    --------------
Update, renewed request: Come on. Please give us an option to disable the soft keyboard on startup. It takes up half the screen! How about calling up the keyboard when the search bar is touched? This app needs to be more browsing friendly. There is a lot of good information, but with SO MUCH info, I don't always have a specific query. I'd rather use this as a learning resource than strictly a reference for when I happen to have a question about a specific country.

The UI is nice to look at, but functionally, there is more to be desired.
    -----------------------
I would like to be able to scroll down the list of countries without the soft keyboard blocking half the screen.

So far the content and info seems solid, but the UI could use just the slightest bit of work. If I limit use to just the occasions when I have a specfic country in mind, I may as well stick with Google or Wikipanion. Being able to browse at leisure will really open this app up to its full potential.

  • Very good, but map functionality can be improved

I really like this app and recommend it - very worth the money. Lots of good info on countries including map of the area and if you have wifi Internet connection or phone ability you can also utilze google earth. But I wish it had some larger maps of the whole world or areas - not just the country. That would be helpful when trying to put a country in geographical context and make this, imho, a perfect app.

  • Brilliant

The information is amazing, and also very accurate. Only reason i did'nt give it 5 stars is because the maps are somewhat lacking in my opinion. If they were more detailed and you could zoom etc this would be the best app ever made.
  • Mostly good

An interesting app. There is a lot to be said for this, especially if it is regularly updated, because the problem with current facts is, well, they change. I'm not sure if this can be kept up to date, but we'll see. Mostly fine, though and some excellent in-depth background information that is fairly impartial. Biggest complaint is that there is no world map at all. One you could zoom in on would be nice. Or even one for accessing continents separately.

  • This App is astounding!

The information is relevant, comprehensive and up to date. The graphics are excellent and it never crashes. One of the few apps I can sit and read for hours - if you have not downloaded this one, get busy and do it! This is a "must have" for information junkies like myself.
  • Encyclopedia Lite

There is nothing special about this application. I don't believe it offers anything more than an encyclopedia or even wikipedia for that matter. Seeing that it was only .99 I decided to give it a shot. I'm a current events buff, I like to know the history of the world and facts about just about anything. I was excited to see what it offered once downloaded to my phone. But, once there I was unimpressed. Boring layout, minimal information. I have made one other purchase from jDictionary in the past and was disappointed as well. I'll take this as the final hint, it's a good idea to pass by their products. It's not that big of a loss at .99, but one could do better with wikipedia or a good ol' encyclopedia.

  • Great!

This is a great app, it's very detailed, informative, accurate, up to date, and easy to use. I'm especially impressed with how up to date it is, which means I can rely on it for information.

One thing that I could suggest for a future update would be a simple political map of the world. All of the country maps are there, so I can't see it being too hard to make, it just seems obvious.

  • Nice BUT...

This app is really nice BUT it would be reallllly nice if you could zoom away from the map picture so you can referene where it is on the globe! It's pretty much nessasary when your trying to learn about obscure countries. Even known countries... where's Germany in referene to Russia... ya know? OR make it so you can return to the app from Google Maps. I have another app that can do that... WhereTo so I know that can be done

YOU WILL AGREE WHEN YOU USE THIS! -good app though

    Fix that and it's perfect!!!

  • Very usefull

Lots of information. Regular updates. 99 cents.
    Great product.
  • Great application :)

Mitch Sefton (review below) says the app is riddled with errors, such as Tasmania being a major supplier of opiates... If he had checked he would realise that Tasmania supplies over 50% of the worlds legal opiates, making it a major supplier.

    Great application :) highly recommended
