  • iFlash for iPhone

I have used iFlash for the last 3 years to study Italian. It is one of the best flash card applications available and is one of the few that allows the user the option of adding cards with a simple interface, and then sharing them with others. David created the software and answers support questions all on his own, and does so marvelously! The new iPhone interface with the iFlash database of my flashcards transfered, via WIFI, like magic. Having purchased many other apps for studying, I can say without reservation that this is one of the best values out there. Keep up the great work David!
  • Best Flash Card Program, Ever!

I've been a long-time user of the desktop application iFlash which, in my opinion, is as good as flashcard programs go. Imagine how excited I was to finally port all the notes I have on iFlash into my iPod Touch which I carry around with me everywhere. Now I can brush up on studying whenever I have a spare moment! The exporting is simple and straight-forward, fast, and works perfectly. The iFlash Touch interface is pleasing and intuitive. My concerns are as follows: - Application sometimes crashes. - Would appreciate a tap to advance feature to minimize finger movements. - Interval testing + Flagging + Syncing back to the desktop application needed to be TRULY a companion application. These are but future improvements, though. You can't beat the quality of iFlash Touch's foundation!
  • Multiple Card Sides is the Killer Feature

Studying Japanese vocabulary requires memorizing 3 basic things about each word: its meaning, its pronunciation, and how it is written. When I start, I like to see the pronunciation and written form together and quiz to match them with their meaning. Later, I want to see the written form alone to quiz for its pronunciation and meaning both. With paper cards (and most flash card software I've tried), this requires creating duplicate decks. With iFlash, I can simply create 3- (or 4-, or 5-) sided cards and change the side order for quizzes as my learning progresses and my needs change, and using random side order enables my ultimate study goal of seeing one card side at random and quizing myself for both (or all) of the others. I have been using iFlash for Mac for a couple of years and am ecstatic to at last have a truly mobile study tool for the decks I have already created! It's good to see that iFlash Touch shows the same polish and thoughtful design as its Mac OS partner. At this writing (version 1.0.1), the only feature I miss is support in the Touch version for decks that include pictures and sound (because I've been spoiled by the excellence of the desktop app). I look forward to this outstanding app getting even better.
  • Pretty good

I'd like email questions to be answered when I send queries. If picture and audio support are added this summer along with interval and scoring support, it may be my primary mode of flashcard study. I can't agree that mental case is a distant second, particularly since interval and pictures are accessible to the itouch app. I also prefer mental cases interface. But iflash does lend itself to offering more configurable preferences that will meet one's needs.
  • Great app, couple things to improve upon

First off, this app is clean, syncs well, overall very solid app. My only problem is that I tend to have long questions and I don't like having to pinch to fit it all. I would like to at least have the option to double tap to switch sides (to allow to scroll down one side) or have it auto zoom to get all the text.
  • Simply the best.

I'm preparing for the GRE, and this app is singlehandedly destroying the competition. Pay for the desktop version. It's worth three times what they charge. The no frills approach keeps the program fast and easily and easily adaptable to one's specific needs. Also, the sync between the desktop and the iPhone is simply fantastic. The best I've seen for any app on the market.

For future updates to the iPhone app: please consider adding a way to keep score with this app and a way to transfer that score to the desktop version via sync. This would make the best even better.
  • Good, but the syncing is funky.

I love the interface. I don't like that I can't add cards, or edit a deck in any fashion whatsoever, on my iphone. Other apps that sync with the desktop can. There's no reason iFlash Touch shouldn't be able to. My previous review was wrong. iFlash Touch DOES sync with the desktop app. Unfortunately, it only syncs on a per deck basis, which is annoying. Otherwise it's good. I still really would like to be able to modify my decks from my iphone, or even download decks on it. I'd gladly pay for a non-free version for the ability to do this.
  • Best iPhone/Mac FlashCard Combination

After trying several FlashCard programs to transfer between Mac and iPhone, I strongly recommend this one! First, the service is great. The developer is very quick to respond to emails and very helpful. Second, the transfer is simple and works reliably. One button transfer! Third, the import and export features of the Mac version are very robust. Several different file types and formatting options are available. Fourth, the FlashCards can have multiple sides... for example Side A: English, Side B: Pinyin, Side C: Simplified Chinese, Side D: Traditional Chinese... I know you are thinking all this sounds too good to be true??? Download and try for yourself!

I absolutely love this program.. love it. Use it every 2 hours. My only issue is not having the sounds feature crossover onto my iphone. I study Chinese and have spent a lot of time adding correct pronunciations to all my flashcards cards (necessary for my study) but the sounds do no work on my iphone.. or fonts. The character font they've added is not the one I want to review. I would love to see the next version make these two things available on my iphone.. PLEASE!
  • iFlash Touch is Awesome

I'm a 4th year medical student and have relied on iFlash to stay sane. I wouldn't have been able to get though year 1 and 2 without it. I have an iPhone now, and have been yearning for a similar powerful (and easy to use) flashcard app I can use out on the wards. I can get by with iFlipr, but have been waiting and hoping for an iPhone version of iFlash. I immediately LOVE the simplicity and awesome interface. Moving from front to back and from one card to the next with a simple flick is easy and just feels right. I want to concentrate on the card content, not stickish navigator buttons or servers. So, in a nutshell, iFlash is the best flashcard Mac app available and iFlash Touch is awesome right out of the gate. Get them both... you'll thank me later. Be patient while David expands the features in the first versions...he knows what he's doing.
