  • Just what I needed.

This app was very useful especially for us as needed a map as soon as we arrived in Rome. In order to get to our accommodation this map came in very handy as we did not have a hard copy of a map of Rome so was glad we had downloaded this before our trip.
  • Awesome travel app

I've travelled all throughout Europe with the Ulmon offline maps and they have been super reliable. Whilst other online map apps have struggled to find some of the smaller corners of the major cities Ulmon has given me near to no troubles. Highly recommend.
  • Very useful

Great to have a map that doesn't require an Internet connection
Best off line maps I have seen so far
  • Best tourist help

Best map for a tourist I have ever used. You can pin your hotel and then pin attractions which are of interest to you. Also you add your location and it shows exactly where you are. Great map as it works off line too.
  • Excellent for global roamers

Gives you a map of Rome, with location services via the regular mobile network, while your mobile data service is switched off, which is awesome given the exorbitant charges for those if you try using alternative online dependent map apps
  • Almost Perfect

It's a really nice app. We're heading to Rome in a few days and we've been planning where we'll be visiting via this app, I'm sure the fact that it works without Internet will be a godsend once were there, allowing us to avoid ridiculous data charges.

One issue I had with it was I first got the app on my iPad and started planning out our trip, I then read that I could sync it all across to my iPhone, so I gave it a try.. Logged in on both devices using Facebook which was smooth enough. The only problem is the pins that you already have don't then automatically sync over to your other device.

There is hidden 'drag down to sync' functionality on the bookmark and list menus that I found after a little while scratching my head but this did nothing... What you need to do is go through all of your pins.. Click them on the map, then untick.. And tick them again in the little box that pops up.. Then go to the list and drag to sync.. Then go to your second device and drag to sync on there and they will start coming through!

Can't help but think it wouldn't take too much effort to just put a big 'sync' button on the profile menu that does all of the above for you.. But non the less, really nice app, just what I was after!

  • Great city navigation

This app is great!!! It was our second time visiting Rome so we remembered certain areas, but this app definitely helped us with backstreets and such making the distance shorter and when you're walking that's always a plus. There are so many things to do and see and not everything is right off of the bus or metro line, some are quite a walk away. I would totally recommend this app to anyone visiting Rome, especially those without 3G on their iPads or iPods because the offline GPS is really easy to use and we never had a problem with locating things while in Rome:)

  • Excellent App when in Rome

I bought a few apps prior to my visit but this was the most useful and usable by far. Works on iPhone and iPad and any favourites saved appear on iPhone / ipad so no worries about synching. I found the best part was using the GPS locator to see where the hell I was, then refer to the paper bus map I had to find out what bus I could get. This is a brilliant app. All it needs are bus routes / numbers and it would be complete. Thanks Ulmon.

  • Total junk

After reading all the glorious reviews, I decided to try it. Frankly, the app is useless! How it got it's accolades is a mystery. The search function is not working unless you spell it precisely. For example, there could be via del name. If you spell via dei name, it will never find it. Search does not have approximate matches, nor partial matches. So unless you know exactly where to go, it is useless.

Another problem is that it lists only places which pays developer. There is nothing wrong with it, if it would be disclosed. But it isn't! That creates false representation of what's around. I have founded this very annoying and practically useless. Those who gave it 5 stars are either never used it, or simply shills doing developer's bidding.

  • Life-saver!

This app was recommended to us by a woman on the plane over to Italy. I was skeptical since initially it sounded like "Wikipedia goes to Italy." Boy, was I wrong. The passive GPS function on the Rome map saved our skin many times. (Basically, you get a map of Rome with your location constantly updated and *without* having to pay the data roaming charges that you would if you used your normal iPhone map function.) Think: son has to go the the bathroom NOW and I can't find my way back to our apartment located on a small side street -- whip out Rome 2Go and navigate small streets with ease. There were many similar examples. As others have written, given the total cost of your trip this little app is the best way you can leverage 99 cents. Advice is to play with it a bit since there are so many great little attributes in this app.
