  • Still Ad Ridden!!

I do like the app but..... Received a notice the networking ad generator had been correct, preventing you from being redirected. Didn’t see any similar issue, but the app is still ad ridden. Each time you read an article, one large ad and smaller banner ad pop up, block the majority of the reading pane. Click the “x” block is annoying each time and small enough to miss and activate the ad. Better places to find Mac news with a lot less, if any, ads.

Hello, we have terminated the third-party ad network that was serving those takeover ads (these are usually the result of rogue advertisers, not the ad network themselves). Please give the site another try as we've eliminated the issue. Also, if you can, please edit your review accordingly. Thank you!
  • Great job guys

MDN has been my go-to Apple related news site for 7-8 years. I’m glad the app is now up to par!
  • Update not worth it (Updated)

Unless you like more ads in all the articles.

Update: App has been recently updated to eliminate the over abundance of advertising. I will give it another try.
  • Getting better

MacDailyNews is a great and fun Apple news site. They carry a bevy of Apple news, and present it in an easily digestible way. While the app is not the most polished thing I’ve ever seen, it is functional, and many of my previous gripes about its poor technical implementation have been rectified over the past months.

  • Notifications are back!

    Thanks for updating the app!
  • Improved app . . .

. . . has a better layout but there are still lots of ads that seem to use a lot of internet bandwidth. I like the left side panel similar to the News app. I agree with others that an ad free purchase option is a good idea.
  • Push Notifications

  • It’s Fixed !!!

Now can we have the original notification tone back please?

Oh and Dark mode would be fantastic whilst your at it 😁😎

My Original 1 star review has been removed so 3 stars it is for now.
  • Bad all around

This blog is arrogant and condescending. The authors and commentators hold strong political biases. The people at MacDailyNews are unprofessional. Just skip their nonsense and go right to the sources.

These people almost never have original content anyway. All they are doing is watching the Apple-related stories from other more professional and prominent blogs and reposting the same story with their annotation at the bottom. Most of the time their annotations are just ridiculously over-the-top and unprofessional. Skip their garbage and subscribe to the real publishers. MDN are plagiarizes standing on the shoulders of real journalists.

Beyond the problems with the blog, the app itself has several technical issues. Notifications stopped working a couple of major iOS releases ago. The ads take over your screen and often redirect you to malware sites. They don’t care one bit because they would prefer you use their websites where they get more money from their ads, and haven’t ever bothered to keep their iOS app updated to use new features or even work whatsoever even though they slam others for not keeping up with the latest from Apple.

I was tolerating the nonsense for a long time until more recently when they amped up their political posts in support of oppressive and disrespectful governmental policies. It’s time to move on from MDN if you want to take your Apple news seriously.
