It is easier, faster and better to use Star Alliance partner apps (ex. United, Lufthansa) to search for flights from and to Canada.
The Air Canada app is like going and buying a new car with wind-up windows and manual steering.
Great improvements!
The Air Canada App: You Cannot Travel Without It!
Horrible! Last minute flights are no longer 12,500
Has it been tested recently?

We're sorry to learn that you're having issues with logging in. As a first step, please try to reset your password - which you can do at any time on the Air Canada or Aeroplan website, or by pressing the 'Forgot password?' button at the bottom of the log in screen in the app. Here's a direct link: http://aeroplan.com/recover/reset-password The app makes it just as easy to search for one-way fares - just select a single date in the calendar, and press 'Continue' at the bottom. If you tap a second date, it will assume you're looking for a round-trip, but a third tap will clear the round-trip selection and select a new one-way date, and so on... We understand how finding the flight you're looking for can be difficult while the flight schedule is impacted by the global pandemic. With that in mind, we'll be looking at ways to offer flexible booking searches in the future. If you have any other feedback to share, or need additional help with logging in, then please don't hesitate to write us at mobile@aircanada.ca, and please be sure to include "App Review from sandylea18" in the subject line, so that we can follow up.
Is this app done?
This app is so bad that you will receive a notification on your iPhone that a flight schedule has changed. BUT open the app and there will be no such alert (there is no alert screen) and the flight in your itinerary will still show...the old schedule. Quit the app and restart, same thing, no update. IF ANYTHING THE APP SHOULD ALWAYS SHOW THR CORRECT INFORMATION. The right way to build an app is for it to pull updates the second you relaunch it or pull down from the top to refresh or for Pete’s sake offer a button that says “Check for updates.” No idea what Air Canada is doing.
And the little bell at the top. That should not lead to a setting. Those go in “Settings.” That bell icon should lead to, wait for it...Alerts (seen and unseen).
Absolutely unacceptable.

Seriously, it’s like they got half way through making this app and then kind of gave up and embedded a web view to finish it off. My boarding passes don’t show up in the app even after checking in. You can’t add your pass to the wallet unless you long click on the link? You can only retrieve your pass by going back to check in where it then tells you you’ve already checked in (duh) and then gives you the option to view your pass! Thing is, that looks like a call each time to the internet so if you’re phone for whatever reason doesn’t have a signal at the gate...
Like how is this considered version 5 of an app when I don’t see it as version 1?

RESPONSE TO AN EARLIER REVIEW (Sep 8, 2020): Thank you for your feedback regarding check-in and boarding pass. After you've checked-in (using the app), the boarding pass becomes available in the app and can be found at the bottom of every screen for quick and easy access. Boarding passes stored in the app are also available offline. You shouldn't need to retrieve them through the check-in window. The app will also automatically attempt to retrieve boarding passes if your booking is saved in the app (in Trips), but you can manually add your boarding pass to the app by following these steps: From 'Home' tab, press the menu button in the top left corner, then press 'Boarding passes'. From the 'Boarding passes' screen, press 'Add boarding pass' and provide your booking reference number and last name, then press 'Add'. We'll be making some improvements in this area over the next few releases, but in the meantime - let us know if the steps listed above worked for you. Questions? Write us at mobile@aircanada.ca, and please include "App Store Review from jsonlinter" in the subject line, so that we can follow up. --- FOLLOW UP (Oct 5, 2020) Thank you for your updated feedback regarding the app. At every app start, the app automatically pulls/fetches the latest information for all bookings in the app, as well as retrieves updates for flight status, and Aeroplan profile if you're logged in. This means that a few seconds after the app starts, it is always showing the latest and correct information for your booking, flights, and profile. To let you know that everything updated correctly (or not), we display the last updated time on all screens which pull information from these backend systems. Look for the "Updated less than a minute ago" messaging, which usually appears near the top of the screen. If this information cannot be updated, then you'll see a different message, such as "Updated more than an hour ago". Even with the tips we provided earlier, it sounds like the app isn't working as well as expected for you. We're sorry to hear that. In our earlier reply, we asked that you kindly reach out by email - but we haven't received anything from you yet. If you have suggestions for improvement, found a bug, would like some help troubleshooting or just need someone to talk to about the app then please write us at mobile@aircanada.ca, and include "App Store Review from jsonlinter" in the subject line, so that we can follow up. --- FOLLOW UP (Oct 19, 2020) Hello jsonlinter, we still haven't heard from you! Get in touch anytime by writing us at mobile@aircanada.ca, and please include "App Store Review from jsonlinter" in the subject line, so that we can follow up.
Very helpful in this day and age

Wouldn’t Expect Anything More!!!
Let me tell you, forget this app, forget Air Canada all together. This company must be stopped. Rude staff, subpar services, out of date airplanes, and now this app... I don’t even know where to begin with this piece of garbage. This is a disgrace to Air Canada, but honestly I wouldn’t expect anything more from them.
