Music Recording
I was looking for a pocket sized mic for an iPhone 6, and this works reasonably well. I’ve recorded live Music and solo home guitar/singing, comes out better than the internal mic (less hollow, boomy). It does a good job rejecting crowd noise in public.
Several times I’ve recorded and found out it was distorted, once when within about 8 feet of a PA, and once from a loud outdoor concert. Also vocals up close will distort, including normal speaking volume.
The “dead cat” wind screen works great, I often record outside with it and without it the wind noise makes the recording unusable even in light wind.Show lessKeith 157
Wish List
I was using this app. Recently lost my phone therefore losing all recordings. Would love a way to recover recordings. Also would like to be able to cut begins of full recordings so to start over you didn’t have to stop & erase/loose focus.1967bones

A must have if you......
The app is off the hook if you have a Roland micro cube with its aux input jack to plug into and record to backing beats of every genre at your choice of BPM. I recorded some random chops on my guitar and recorded it with the app. Totally AWESOME!!TAJ71
Best mobile recording app
I’ve used this app for the last 4 years.
Love how easy you can capture a song idea. You can even record vocals over karaoke songs you love. I would love a better drum loop with tempo adjustment.
In addition, this app is great for emailing your ideas to other people. Super easy to use. And they have a version for iPad. Can’t beat it for the price.Show lessSgt.34

Prepare to be impressed
I'm a singer and I REALLY appreciate how fast I can record my song ideas. Its super easy to begin a new recording session and I can get a mix emailed to my guitarist & producer from the app which is awesome. Sound quality is totally pro. We've imported tracks from StudioMini into Pro Tools for songs we're working on for my new album. Just plain awesome.Show lessmusique%

I've been using this app for several months now, and it has become my primary method of multitracking. The poor ratings dragging the aggregate score down are anomalies. This app works perfectly. The complaints from others are price, improper function and no effects. A digital four-track for the price of lunch seems good to me. And it is a recorder only; my effects are on the computer software of my choice. Lastly, nothing but great-quality audio and 100% reliable functionality with zero glitches or weirdness. good pocket recorder
i got this instead of buying a self contained recording unit. works very well for what i want it for, namely learning tunes. the recording quality is really quite amazing. would love to see a couple of features though. it would be really nice to have a pause button during recording and a way to make sure you don't accidentally record over previous recorded material. the little light on the track showing a full track is not quite enough in my opinion and it automatically goes back to the beginning when you hit record. i'd like to be able to add on. The other thing that would be nice is speed control so you can speed up or slow down the playback. this is not strictly speaking the function of a recording device but it would be nice not to have to export the track to manipulate the speed. Add these things and I would give 5 stars easy.Show lessRayloco13
Best $6 I have spent in a long time...
I have been looking for something that is easy to use that would allow me to get ideas down quickly. I have traditionally used an old tascam 4 track and by the time you set up, get levels, etc... you are about a 1/2 hour in without recording a single note. Upon downloading the StudioMini app I had a full idea on tape within 45 minutes. I still can not believe how good the mics for the ipad work, I was really impressed with the sound of my 12 string when recorded.
The only 2 additions I would ask for is the ability to change the tempo of the drum grooves that come with the app and a little reverb for vocals. None the less this app gets the job done and is worth every penny!Show lessZinc Jr
