  • Almost better than vocalive

Love this app, I like making my own music beats and all and this is what I need... Few suggestion for future updates: 1) some effects (pitch, reverb, morph, chorus) 2) a mini beatmaker in the app so we can make awesome beats.. 3) better timeline so we can rerecord where we went wrong in realtime. Those would make this app even BETTER THAN Vocalive, I know it's a little to much to ask for( ok maybe alot) but just making some suggestions to make it better :)

  • Songwriter's dream

This ap just saved me couple hundred dollars. As a songwriter, I need something to capture random ideas, guitar riffs, etc. I'm not always in a place where I can fire up my MacBook and get to my recording equipment, but that just changed. This little app prevented me from buying a fairly expensive portable b/c it's with me all the time. I'm using it to store project ideas- usig each track for a different version of a new song idea. It's perfect for that. Also exports to GarageBand for effects. For the price - amazing!

  • does not recognize MacAlly iVoice Pro

On my iPod Touch, which doesn't have a built in mic, this program won't recognize the MacAlly iVoice mic. Voice Memo (App) recognizes the mic, but when I switch to StudioMini, the light on the mic goes out and nothing gets recorded.

I really need an upgrade mic from the one that is built into the iPhone and I would like to have a little better recording set up for music than VoiceMemo. I couldn't really evaluate the program, because of this problem. But this problem is significant enough to only allow one star. Fantastocrats should put a disclaimer in the "system requirement" section to specifically say it only works with a certain mic and others, at least, may not work. It seems if VoiceMemo can find the mic, this App should be able to also.

  • I think this is a great app!

I know there's a lot missing from Octopod that one would desire in a recording app (panning, etc) but for just $3 you can't go wrong. This same program on a computer would've cost a whole lot more just 10 years ago. The drum loops sound great (again for just $3 and a handheld device, yes they do sound great). I don't give it 5 stars because of a desire for additional features like panning, BPM control on the drum loops (impossible because they're great sounding samples, but some non-metronome bpm controllable loops would be nice) MIDI or more tracks, and because inputs, outputs and monitoring can be a tricky issue. The videos on their website make it look easy, but I tried a line in from a mixer L+R RCA to the headphone jack of the iPhone and it didn't work. The 1/8" jack of my cable is the standard two rings...but I know you need 3 rings to do an input into the headphone jack. The video also doesn't explain how they monitor what's already recorded on the iPhone. I intend to get a Belkin microphone that goes into the USB port of the iPhone that also has a 1/8" stereo line in input ($80 at the Apple store but I'm gonna shop around). I'll use that for my inputs and then monitor out of the iPhone's headphone jack, then I'll be rocking!

  • Awesome App!!

I have been waiting for an app like this to come out for a while! This is the essential recording application for the on-the-go musician; from amateurs to seasoned professionals. I am very impressed with the zero latency and wide selection of beats- all of my recording needs are met. As a professional musician in Los Angeles, I have found it extremely helpful to have such an easy to use, intuitive recording studio right on my phone. Highly recommended. Thanks Fantastocrats! Can't wait for the next great app from you guys!
