  • Best Mobile Study App So Far

I have been using Olivetree since the Palm OS days. On my computer I used Biblesoft (still amazing on PC) but they have failed to make a good mobile app. Olivetree offers the desktop experience of Biblesoft on a mobile platform. For this reason I have started actively growing my Olivetree library. I have also tried YouVersion, and while that app is simple, quick, and offers a lot of social features, it has very little study ability. Most features it has , Olivetree already has or can easily add more. Where Olivetree really shines is study tools and reference material, not to mention offline availability (no internet in a lot of churches and I use a wifi iPad) and cross platform syncing. This app is truly amazing, I recommend it highly. All of that said in the current version there're a few places to improve. Sometimes you have to dig to find the settings you want, and at times the flow feels less than intuitive. These are only minor things and with every release it gets better! Keep up the great work guys!

  • Olive Tree: the electronic blessing

I’ve had this app for over 10 years and have been a Christian for over 40. I’ve had to teach many a Bible study in my day. And any good Bible teacher knows that he has to delve into the Scriptures as best he can so he can convey the word of God to the listeners in an understandable, relatable manner. Back when I started I’d have to have a room full of books with Dictionary’s, commentaries, lexicons, etc. and in today’s busy world it is hard to have so much time to do such digging. Olive Tree, with all its hyperlinks, has made it so simple and quick to gather a multitude of information. Also when I sit in church listening to the sermon and want to take more notes I have my iPad on my lap soaking in and recording all that is said. It is so wonderful to be able to carry a whole library in one device the size of a short book. I have thoroughly enjoyed this app and I’ll be looking forward to many more wonderful years of enjoying it. By the way it is also a great thing to be able to download the classic books from commentators and lexicographers from the past. Thank you so much Oliver Tree. Keep up the good work for the kingdom of God!

    Thank you so much!!
  • This is my "Go To" Bible now…..

I've tried a number of Bible Software programs (since the 80's) and Olive Tree's Bible reader on the iPad is now my main Bible. I was finally able to lay down my Thompson Chain (It's pretty worn out) and go with an electronic Bible that I can really use. This is what I take to church and Bible Studies now. For those complaining about KJV being the only 'Free' Bible available, there are several free versions. The ones you have to pay for are due to the publishers who own the copyrights on those versions. There are also a ton of extra-biblical books and reference materials. If it's in the public domain I believe it's free. Just downloaded the works of Flavius Josephus for free the other day. There are a few bugs that need to be worked out, but they really don't impede the use of the Bible. There is one thing I'd love to see….. My Utmost for His Highest, preferably with either recorded readers or the ability for the iPad to read to me (following along with the text). If it's in the store I surely haven't seen it. Excellent Bible study tool.

  • Renewed Passion For The Word

I only switched to this app because the one I was using started to freeze and quit working. So after trying some other apps I landed on this one. At first, the customization was overwhelming but then after watching the tutorial videos and making it look the way I like it, the app is just about perfect for me. Note taking in parallel or over the top of the text is great. Accessing commentaries, dictionaries, and other resources is simple. The gesture shortcuts seemed silly at first, now I use them all the time. This app allows you to swim in the shallow waters of the word and grow in your faith. AND it allows you to dive into the deep end of what the Word of God has to offer. I’m grateful to Olive Tree team for their yeoman work on this app. Your coding team and GUI team have done amazing work. Thank you. I sometimes spend more than two hours in the word. I’ve never done that before!

  • Bible Study App by Olive Tree.

This Bible Study app is something I use regularly and have found it to be an excellent tool to study the Bible. It’s many support books and Bible translations are so useful for my spiritual food, growth, worship and praise that it goes with me everywhere and everyday, right in my pocket. Mechanically the app is almost floorless and the resources available to the Christian for reading and study are very comprehensive. If my phone dies and I have to get a new one, Olive Tree has all my Bible translation, resource guides and notes etc downloaded and all I have to do is put their app on the new device and reload all my notes and resources. This is a wonderful and extremely useful tool to study Gods word and I freely recommend it to all.

  • Great app! I love the way it’s organized, as if some actual Bible students designed it.

I used to use Logos and still do from time to time but this olive tree has become my goto app for all Bible study. It’s designed for the apple UI, not that junky windows garbage. Also, it’s set up for efficient workflow by people who understand Bible study.

Yes, there are many opportunities for in-app purchases but what do you expect? Unless you’re a Freegan, or otherwise philosophically opposed to investing money in your education, you will enjoy the wide array of excellent options for purchase to add to your study library. I think I added $550 worth of books in the first week. And I love them! One in particular is the Ancient Christian Commentary which is a multi volume set priced at around $900. That’s a big commitment for anyone. But, through this app I can buy individual volumes for, like $30 when I need them. That’s awesome! I have the access I want at the price I’m willing to pay. Excellent!

  • Favourite bible reader - so many reasons why

To me this app has so many functions that set it apart from the rest. I have a huge library saved and available on my phone, PC and ipad I don’t need an internet connection to access them. I love so many things about this app including being able to sync highlights and reading plans. I also love to make lots of notes while reading my bible and It stores all of my notes across all devices. It's easy to use and simple to change settings to your layout taste. But the main thing that sets it apart from all others is the resource guide. It puts together all the relevant resources etc from all of your titles for the specific passage you are reading. So many great things about this app that make it worth 5 stars. ————

  • Olive Tree - Exceptional

I have had this App for many years now and I must say I can’t think of one bad thing to say about it. As far as the mechanics of it I have never had one problem with “buttonology”; it is very intuitive and I don’t think it has ever gone down on me. Years ago I had problems transferring to a new phone. I found a phone number somewhere, called, and to my amazement a human being (homo sapiens; a real person!) answered the phone and had my problem fixed within a few minutes. And pleasant minutes they were, the person (can’t remember if M or F) was so polite and friendly.
There are always bargains to be had, and over the years, and as O.T. has grown, my virtual library has grown right along with them. I still think that it is amazing that this little phone can hold such a huge number of books with instant access and easy navigation. Teck-mology is amazing! Lol. As is O.T.’s attention to detail.
I own a bunch of apps that I like a lot. This one is my hands down favorite. Thank you OT for making all these good resources available and affordable.

  • Very Good but can be better!

I have watched this app transit from a reader into a study app and I'm not disappointed. It's quite rich and easy to use. I've been a fan of eSword for over fifteen years but when I bought an iPad they had no iOS version so I switched to Olive Tree. By the time they came out with their app, I had no great push to switch back. But there're a few things I miss from my eSword . . – ability to compare a verse across all available translations - ability to read from my favorite translations in a parallel bible fashion and still have my notes open to make notes I wish to suggest that u use tabs in order to ease switching from view to view. It can be quite laborious switching from my notes back, back, back to go copy a scripture from another translation in the Resource section and then forward, forward, forward to my notes again. But on the whole, the app is good and I'm not contemplating switching away yet, more so it now has the edge of automatic sync across all my devices and it saves my docs in the cloud store. Its worthy of d stars! I will give it d final one when I see this improvements. Lanready

This is an excellent app for anyone who struggles to find time to just sit in the presence of God. With a number of free resources as well as an excellent list of books and Bibles. This app also offers a number of reading programs and devotionals in an easy to read and study format. I would recommend this to Christians of all walks, whether a new Christian or someone who has been walking with God for years. There is something for everyone, highly recommended.
