  • Simplistic bliss.

I've reviewed this one before, but it seems that my review vanished. But I love this game so much that I'm going to take time away from sleeping to do it again!

Canabalt isn't amazing because of it's simple pick up and play premise. It's not because of it's pulse pounding soundtrack and eerily engrossing sound effects. It's not the druglike addictiveness of the gameplay or the beautifully doomsaying graphics.

Canabalt derives it's genius from the mystery of it all. It's obvious you're trying to escape the giant automatons destroying the city in the background. But what are they? Aliens? Machines that have become self aware? An evil genius and his attempt to take over the world? (Of course!) This is for you, the player, to the decide. Canabalt is amazing because there is no clearly drawn storyline. SSS gives you some clues and leaves you to the fill in the blanks.

This is why Canabalt is incredible. It isnt just a game. It's a captivating experience, which is leaps and bounds more than most other games from the AppStore can offer. If you're too stupid to get this brilliance, you have no one to blame but yourself.

    iPhone 5 update...???
  • I can't think of a title....

Okay Canabalt huh? Well first of I am going to say, this game shouldn't be 3 pooping dollars. If anything it should be a dollar. Did you read that semi secret? A dollar k?

Another thing I want to say is raise your right hand if you are here because of nerd cubed (\_/)
    (^.^) bunnneh

Okay so things I love about the app: teh pixels, the little messages that say 'you die', the simplicity, the pixels, the robots in the back ground, how hard it gets and the pixels. Why? 'cus ha ha ha-I'm mad. I honestly can't be bothered to do anymore but if you like platformers, pixels and are not scared to splash your cash then this is the app for you.

    Over And Out. (\_/)

  • Needs iPhone 5 support

This game is awesome but needs iPhone 5 support. Like common it's been 2 months now
  • Simply amazing 😄

I think of how many times I have rage quitter this game after having nearly beaten my high score, put it down and then pick it back up and start playing it again literally three seconds later. This is a fantastic game and a must have in my opinion. The music is stunning and the game play is so simple yet so complex. Get this app, you won't regret it. 😄

  • Cool

This is the version to buy, Canabalt HD is a hacker version!?! Dunno why I posted that info, but I had to do research before buying, anyway. Great game, hooked me, 5 stars
  • Good idea but...

The current version contains a bug that means there are no sound effects in iOS 5. This severely impacts on gameplay as sound effects are a critical part of the feedback for what is about to happen next. Also, the game is on the pricey side given the simple nature of the design and experience. Otherwise this game is neat looking in the old 8-bit style, and a fun way to pass a few minutes - or a few tens of minutes! Fix the bug and I'll rate it 4 stars. Drop the price and I'll rate it 5.

  • Don't you miss the days before 'achievements?'

I do. It seems many of the people reviewing the game fail to understand that a game can be used to provide simple fun, and doesn't have to reward you everytime you do something nominally interesting. Forget achievements, forget complex controls, graphics and flashy effects. Canabalt is simple, one-button fun in a tiny package, which delivers an intense, addictive, easily replayable experience, and in my opinion, is well worth the price, especially when you consider a few of the worse games you could spend the same amount of money on.
