  • Impressive on all levels

As a student pilot in training, the decision to add ForeFlight has been incredible. The overall features, maps, and especially the logbook have made things so much easier and less stressful. Although there’s so much to learn, the customer service and support is beyond impressive. Just yesterday I submitted a help request and within an hour Trevor from the Pilot Support Team replied. Not only did he reply, but he also made the logbook correction for me, provided guidance for future entries and his response was very personable with knowledge of the airports involved. I can’t say enough about this product and their staff. Regardless of your level of certification and experience, make the investment in ForeFlight! They’ve made me a lifetime customer.

  • Who do you ask?

When you have an Apple iPad, Multiple Garmin devices, and Foreflight… who do you call to get a straight answer in regard to “How does this Hardware and Software connect together?”

Well, in my case I have 5th gen iPad mini running Foreflight software, a Garmin GNC 355, and I’d love to know if it’s worth the $8000 to buy a Garmin GNX 345. To be worth it, I would need to KNOW for certain that I could communicate both directions between the 355 GPS and the iPad / Foreflight AND also receive all of the ADS-B in as well as Weather from the GNX 345. Does Garmin who produces the $20K in avionics know… no they don’t, they directed me to Foreflight. Does the Avionics ship know… no they don’t, they direct me to Foreflight. When I look at Apple connecting multiple devices via multiple Bluetooth connections they say yes you can have multiple Bluetooth connections and then give an example of connecting multiple ear buds which will play a common source of music BUT that is not the same as connecting into two complex avionics with bi-directional communication on at least one of the two. Long story short, just send the question to Foreflight is my recommendation because within hours of me doing so, I had a response which said definitely that I could simultaneously connect both the GNC 355 and GTX 345 via Bluetooth to my iPad, transfer flight plans back and forth and also get the weather and ADS-B in traffic info through Foreflight…. Thank you Foreflight support team

  • Perfect Before Boeing

Honestly, this aviation app has been my go to application for over a decade. It gives even novice pilots an awareness edge like no other. Even the finest 100k garmin panel seldom comes close to the ease of use of Foreflight. Since it has been bought by Boeing, Foreflight has gotten slower and more expensive. Even with the newest most powerful iPad plays it in slow motion. Take one look at Boeing and you know what is happening. Boeing has become a collection of DEI failures…especially starting with the 737. They went from remarkable to profoundly unremarkable in less than 60 months….and you can see it in Foreflight….likely dumbed down by a cast of “DEI unremarkable’s” who simply cannot do serious math. Sad indeed.

  • My gratitude

It is hard to find superlatives that do justice to Foreflight. “It is our co-pilot.” “It is my long term and near term weather analyst.” “It can tell me if my weight and balance or crosswind limits are even close for any flight.” “It displays all ADSB traffic, near and far.” “It is my planning and filing tool.” “It is my recourse in the event of a total electrical failure.” The list of assets and values to the aviator could fill this page.

The one thing that exceeds the genius of the Foreflight tool is the great heart of the Foreflight support people who answer our questions. Sometimes the questions are arcane; sometimes they are rudimentary. No matter. Without exception over the six years of my subscription history, the people standing by are quick, kind, gracious and committed—to my safety and satisfaction as a pilot and as a fellow human beings. Thank you, Foreflight Team.

  • Perfect, but!

I wish I could give ForeFlight a 5 stars, but honestly that requires full happiness that ForeFlight yet to work on, apparently, there are too much bureaucracy between their employees that preventing ForeFlight from being ideal despite it used to be ideal before started the downhill when userd started noticing the lack of service. A few examples, ForeFlight has an eraser tool on the scratch notes but they don't have it on the map annotations, really? Don't you know pilots are mainly using maps while flying? Another flaw, ForeFlight can be installed on multiple devices, but can't sync the map annotations or AFD PDF notes, huh. These issues can go on and on of many small but essential tools to reach the ideal app. Wondering how long the bureaucracy will continue before they realize the shrinking number of users.

  • Great Support

ForeFlight is so rich with well designed content that there is a ton of stuff that I’ve only begun to be familiar with, but we all know that. What I did not know was the level of support available. I recently inadvertently deleted a flight track and couldn’t see a way to restore it. I decided to contact support for help but had low expectations. I had a response almost immediately and my track was restored right away. I figured it would take several days or a week if I ever got a response at all. I was blown away. Their customer service is by far the best I have ever seen on anything.

  • Still can’t add multiple track logs or combine logs

Doing my IFR training and hitting a really annoying limitation… I can’t add more than one track log to a flight and I can’t properly log an x/c with a stop for lunch.

We need the ability to link multiple log entries as a single flight or trip, also forwarding from a paper logbook as a single “totals” entry doesn’t allow for the distinction of towered vs. non-towered landings. I have to make tons of additional entries with different properties so that my 8710 actually shows the correct values. Why isn’t there an 8710-style page for entering starting totals from a paper log?

Multiple entries for the same day will frequently appear out of order and this is highly annoying.

The logbook needs some serious work and ff is falling behind garmin pilot.

Then, there’s no way to set up a route on the map with multiple approaches with the published missed, so not super helpful when going up to shoot a bunch of practice approaches.

Lastly there’s no spilt screen to show the plate next to the map, overlay’s are nice, but sometimes i need the plate separate from the map because distance rings and traffic frequently cover numbers on plates. On a 10” ipad in landscape mode, there’s screen real estate going to waste when the only option is to split it with AHRS.

  • Amazing and Essential

I’ve been using ForeFlight for years now, and it’s an indispensable EFB for my flying. It’s fabulous for logbook entries, weight and balance, fuel calculations, and flight planning. AND with Sentry installed it’s an excellent back up for PFD. It’s so easy to upload my flight plans into my FMS, PDC is fantastic, Imagery is great, and the briefing most useful. If you are a pilot this is a must have.

As for support, they have responded to my issues within 5 min the two times I needed support. I am astounded how responsive that they are with any issue.

I could go on, but it’d be just more glowing recommendations. GET FOREFLIGHT!

  • Needs better UX for Apple’s Pencil and Keyboard accessories

First, I’ll say this App was a complete game changer. But they need to keep up with Apple’s accessories…
    1. In documents, switching between a highlighter and a pen should not require this many touches. Right now you must change the color, thickness and transparency.
    2. Most other apps let you double tap the pencil to switch to the previous tool or the eraser, Foreflight should as well.
    3. Support for the Apple iPad Keyboard: you can’t even pan the map right now using the touchpad, but my iPad is usually in this keyboard stand when I’m not flying.

  • Good But…

They push the top tier subscription hard and intentionally bait users with new features that readily exist in competitors less costly EFB. Most frustrating is the inability to export a gps file for my flight plan so I can import to my in panel GRT. The inability to enlarge text is another big issue. I have 20/20 vision and use an iPad mini and constantly struggle. Might need to get a bigger iPad. Overall a great product with huge user base but I honestly think other EFB’s are just as good for less money. I have a total of 3 EFB’s and compare them constantly. Finally, it feels as though ForeFlight is pushing away us leisure guys for the corporate and deep pocket folks. Maybe they should consider spinning another company off and give better focus to general aviation.
