Not enough transfer time

You need to consider the distance between platforms and waiting times to get off trains when working with connections. Missed my connecting train as you left me literally no time to get off the train with my luggage and run to the other side of the train station (from platform 14 to 1). Now I’m sat here waiting for an hour just hoping they’ll let me use my ticket for the next one… will be quite irritated if I have to pay for a new ticket but staff here aren’t very friendly and I wouldn’t be surprised. TL;DR - you need to allow at least 15 minutes for travelers to get off a busy train, make their way through a busy station, and travel across multiple platforms. Your current time allowance has people flying through the station, bumping into people with luggage and leaving fuming that they’ve had to pay for a new ticket.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Please note that as a third-party retailer, we can only display the journeys being offered by the train operators directly. I'd recommend sharing your feedback with National Rail Thanks, -Leah

Returns nightmare

Paid £85 for UK train tickets, trains were cancelled due to Storm Darragh, but no refunds.

Edit: Tried to follow link from developer response, which redirected me in circles, still with no refund. Reduce to 1 star.

They’re happy to take my money, but redirect me to the carrier for a refund. Should have just booked with the carrier directly.

It’s bad

The only thing this app used to be good for was seeing when the trains would normally show, and to have a digital ticket so you don’t lose it. The bad part about that is one, most the time when you search for trains it says it’s “on time” but it’s actually probably delayed or cancelled. I remember waiting ages for a train just to realise it actually got cancelled and I had to get a different one, all because the app is slow.

Just today i checked my phone for train times after it had just been updated and it said “no trains available” and wouldn’t let me buy a ticket. I thought it was my internet connection, but it wasn’t. This app has always been mediocre but after the most recent update where they completely changed the layout to something so confusing (there was literally no need to change the layout) it’s just become somewhat unusable. Thanks for nothing, because I would rather buy a physical ticket and have the risk of loosing it than use this app again.

Hi there, Thank you for your feedback, we always value our customers' input. I've forwarded this team as we strive to make the app better in every single way! I'd like to let you know as a retailer we don't run any trains and always attempt to update the app when a service has been disrupted. Thanks, Dylan

Made me loose plenty of money

I’ve used this app in my first years in the UK, it is comfortable to book tickets online when you want and not wait to queue in machines or station tills, but the real discounts appear when you purchase a railcard.
For travelling from Guildford or Woking that usually works, the problem was when I started using it from Wimbledon where travelling in consecutive s days has TFL discounts which this app never offered, what has happened with those extra £5 per trip this app charged me every trip? Who knows!
The minute y tried TrainPal I found Trainline was making me loose money for not use the other word. Thing was that real fee was offered by the other app, and trips went from £15,40 to £10 per day, return.
Besides that in my last trips, fee from Wimbledon was hire using the Railcard than the regular fee. Crazy as it sounds.
So now is just a consultation app for me, I’ve never bought them another ticket and possibly will never do it again. Thanks TrainPal!

Well listened to feedback

There was a recent update that changed the screen the app opens up to to favourites which was just awful. Had to go through extra steps to get to the search journey function. Maybe they didn't realise how useful it is quickly check that as when you search for a journey, it shows you the platform number of the up coming trains as well as the ability to search for the next few trains. This was great in the rush. Anyway after the latest update I'm glad they reverted it so the app opens the way it used to.

Overall always had positive experiences with the app. Would tell anyone to get it. Little things like having the eticket easily accessible in the app as well as the option for it to automatically appear on the lock screen when near the train station. Even requesting a refunds is super simple.

For a feature suggestion: it'd be nice if there was a way to have your digital Railcard in the app then everything to do with train journey will be in one app. Obv integrating the Railcard app with this app may be very complicated but throught I'd mention it😇

Great app easy to use

I’m visiting the UK this app has been super helpful.

Pushy

Booking dot com affiliation and prompts are frustrating

Amazing app for traveling

This app made organizing my latest trip through Spain completely hassle free. Thank you so much!

Bait and switch

Be very careful using this app. It will frequently change the ticket without changing the price. For example I’ve booked first class tickets & they billed the first class price, but the tickets end up standard class. I’ve seen this happen several times. I’ve also seen it list a single train that ends up having multiple connections that weren’t listed in the trip description. There is also often missing information so it’s difficult to find platforms or directions when 2 stations are near each other, like a train station next to a local tram station. It’s nice for searching for routes, but I don’t trust it to book the ticket I pay for.

horrible on a very slightly slow connection

I was using the Trainline website on Macbook last night, it is perfect! Imagine you want to see all options during a 48 hour period and observe how slow and horrible the iPad interaction is... PLEASE try looking at all the options on one calendar day. Then go back up to very early in the morning. You will unintentionally keep "refreshing" when you are actually trying to scroll backward in time. From a UI UX perspective the interaction is terribly broken and it "caught me" about 10 times before I realized what was happening. Very frustrating!!!! I will avoid this app until it is fixed. Why is this app "scared" to cash more than 10 search results? As if it is some huge amount of data? Totally incompetent guys! I am a trainline fan, but this app needs tweaks that aren't hard to make
