  • VPN = Phone Incapacitated

I’ve been with customer service, and I’ve re-installed the VPN at least four times. Within the hour every single time my phone is rendered unable to connect to any source of internet. Not only via apps but also smart devices. I cant connect to my Ecobee or my Wake & Sleep lamp by my bed side, nor my homepod etc. Very disappointed. The mac seems to work just fine. I’m not sure whats going on, and neither did customer service because every time it seems to be fixed, yet again it fails. Its an amazing idea, but if it renders my internet unusable then its not worth it as I need my email for work among many other reasons.

Its the VPN that needs a lot of work. Until you figure out why its so slow that apps, email, and internet browsers don’t work, I simply can’t pay for your services again.

  • Does it’s job well, only if you do yours!

The first time I used Covenant Eyes, I didn’t have good accountability and didn’t really commit to it. But this time I went the full nine yards and finally really overcome addiction!

In conjunction with the iPhone content restriction settings with a passcode that I don’t know but gave to someone else, I fully installed Covenant Eyes on my iPad and laptop as well as my iPhone. It’s been great.

The browser has a few glitches: sometimes the top and bottom bars covers over and blocks some website content. Safari doesn’t have the same issue, so maybe the dev team could take a look at that. *BUT IT’S STILL WORTH IT!*

  • Purity and trust are worth every expense

I’ve been on a long journey of fighting porn addiction. I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs, but one of the biggest game-changers in this ordeal has been downloading covenant eyes. I’ve now had Covenant Eyes installed on my laptop and phone for over a year and a half, and I can’t imagine walking in purity without it. Thanks to this service, the support of my friends and wife, and the Grace of God, I’ve been clean for over a year now.

This service isn’t perfect, but it’s so much better than just keeping an unrestricted browser and expecting yourself to deny any temptations.

I once heard a man criticize the commonly thrown around phrase “struggling with porn.” He responded to it by asking “well, what are you doing to struggle?” If you don’t change any of your habits or restrain your access to porn, then you’re not struggling at all. You’re really just rolling over and letting it win. One of the most important steps is getting in the game and fighting to win. Covenant eyes is helping me win, and I’m very grateful to have this resource on my side.

Thank you for leaving a review and sharing your story. That is a huge milestone that we are celebrating with you. We love being part of your purity story. Keep up the good work.
  • Sorry, but this app is very buggy

This app has caused my iPhone to run so slow! The browser is constantly crashing, the loading screens take so much time that they time out and can’t load, and right now the app won’t even open entirely. It crashes every time I try to open the browser. I hate to say it, but this really needs work. I loved the service and what it is doing for helping me quit porn, but if you guys want to really help more people, you’re going to have to step up your game when it comes to troubleshooting and debugging. My iPhone worked just fine before downloading Covenant Eyes, but it feels like I downloaded a virus when I downloaded Covenant Eyes.

  • VPN problems still an issue

I have tried repeatedly all the fixes that they claim to offer but the fact remains that I am not getting my money’s worth from CE anymore. Ever since IOS 14 update the VPN blocks internet when NOT connected to WiFi. They say they are working on it but can’t seem to duplicate the issue on their developers iPhones. Are you kidding me? I have tried this now on THREE iPhones: an 8, 10 and 12. To no avail. They all cannot connect unless I power OFF the phone and power it back on each time I leave WiFi. That is clumsy and ridiculous. Please fix this or I will look elsewhere for accountability for my son and I. I have had it deleted more than on my iPhone since the iOS 14. I am not paying this much not for it work on my iPhone which is where we are most susceptible.

  • Used to work great. Now have to reset my VPN constantly.

We’ve been using CE for years with no issues until recently. Now my husband and I both have to reset our VPN’s every single time we open our phones and try to use the internet. Without the reset, the internet won’t load anything. We have both uninstalled and reinstalled our CE apps, to no avail. This is becoming such a big issue for us that I’m seriously considering pulling the plug, even though I don’t want to. It’s been so nice to have the accountability, but if I can’t use my phone to run my business without taking the time to reset my VPN every time I turn my phone on again, it won’t be worth it. PLEASE figure out what is causing this issue so we don’t have to cancel our service.

  • My Phone Has Stopped Working

Works great on my Mac, absolutely no problems.

Thing is, I use my iPhone far more than my Mac. My iPhone is now useless on wifi. The VPN or whatever has caused nothing to load. Random apps - Facebook, the game Among Us, and maybe something else random - will still load. The majority of the things I use will not. I have chewed through so much data because of this and it is going to cost me more money because I will have to pay for more data. My options are no accountability but have a phone that works, or have accountability but no phone. Even pictures, videos, links on iMessage won’t load until I turn off wifi. Contacted support and they tried one thing which didn’t work, then I was asked to submit a report, which I did. Haven’t heard anything since that time and based on the interval between app updates throughout their existence, I’m not expecting a fix any time soon. My last hope is that the WiFi I am on is causing my problems. If that’s it, then okay, the problem is on my end. If it’s not the WiFi, I’m going to have to delete the program.

Hi Curts33! We are sorry for the continued difficulties you are having. There are things we can do to check to see if there is a network issue. Would you mind reaching out to us again to help you further?
  • Browser incredibly incompatible

Overall, I applaud CE in terms of functionality and accountability. I understand that it’s pretty unique how they have to go about it with iOS. However, the replacement browser leaves much to be desired. Functioning as strictly a browser, it’s not too bad. But whenever it opens up as an “authentication” pop up or what have you for a game etc., it’s rarely if ever works. I have to get my accountability partner to temporarily “unlock” safari to update my games and such. Now, let me be clear, while this is a big headache, it’s possible that it’s as good as it can be trying to work with iOS. And, it beats the alternative (no accountability), at least for me. So the low rating is for the browser alone. I stand behind the service as the best option for internet accountability available for iOS.

  • Beware - they will capture financial information

I’ve been a user of Covenant Eyes for over two years. Recently they switched my account (without my permission) to “screen capture”. I get the idea behind it and applaud the move to new technology; however, how they rolled out and implemented this technology could bring Covenant Eyes right in the center of a class action lawsuit. Let me explain...

This morning, I received the first screen capture report and noticed they were taking pictures of my banking information and also tax return information on my screen. I called the rep there immediately and cancelled my account and expressed my concerns. The only assurance he could provide me was that my information was only going to be stored on their server for 30 days then it was gone. He admitted, this is probably not the answer I am looking for.

Don’t use Covenant Eyes and if you do, make sure to guard your personal information...

UPDATE: please notice while the developer did not say it out right - they DO capture your financial information. JUST NOT RIGHT. There are laws respecting financial privacy. Heading over to BBB and CFPB to file a complaint. If your financial information is captured, I’d encourage you to do the same.

  • Annoying; still helpful

Taskbar at the top and bottom often lock up and won't scroll away, making the top and bottom of the screen unusable; Freezes or crashes seemingly at random, even with only one tab and no other apps open; markedly slower than other browsers on this computer. Filtering is usually great, though, so it's generally worth these (usually uncommon) bugs, so I would consider this app worth it, except for one oversight- my phone's memory is full of caches, and I can't clear my Safari cache without my accountability partner's help to briefly unblock Safari, but I can't meet with my accountability partner until after quarantine, because of their immune-compromised family members. If it was possible to clear all caches from within the Covenant Eyes app, this might come up to a 4 star rating. All in all worthwhile, but once I'm in a better place, I intend to move back to an ordinary browser.
