  • The must have mobile design toolbox

The 1.5 version crash is fixed run don't walk get this App now!!!
Additions of Booleans, layer enhancement etc. has made this the mobile design app to beat. One of the neatest enhancements implemented a few versions ago was an offset widget that allows you to work with your fingers yet control the placement of your point and snap to other points with precision make sure you turn it on. I have been waiting for the recent additions for awhile. This app deserves 6 stars however I could only assign it 5.
    Kudos to the developer.

  • Wow!

If you are already a user of a vector graphics program like Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator, then this is what you're looking for. It's shocking how much this inexpensive app can do! There's a bit of a learning curve, but if you've used a vector graphics program, you'll know what function you're looking for and will eventually find it. You can download a pretty good instruction manual. If you're looking for a scribble with your finger program, you will probably be totally confused by this app, but if you're looking for a real graphic arts program, this is a pretty cool substitute to take on the road.

  • AI on an ipad for less than a happy meal!

My dream has come true! After getting my ipad Adobe Illustrator just seemed sooooo old. Yak! If u use AI but wished for an iPad implementation download this as fast as u can double-tap! Yeah sure iDesign has a way to go but more than the basics r here. Just email the svg to yourself and do your advanced work (gradients etc.) on old AI until iDesign catches up.

I can't wait for the day to say bye bye to expensive, outdated dinosaur Adobe Illustrator. Just think...this app costs as much as your Happy Meal!

  • YES!!

Wow idk what crazy reviewers said this app is for pros only... I haven't had much design experience and within 20 minutes I was able to design a simple cog from scratch!! soooo easy to use. Everything is pretty much self explanatory, no need for tutorials. The drop-down/side-slide tools are just innovative. You're not stuck with toolboxes on your screen whether you're using them or not. I only ask that you pleaseeeeeeeee bring this to the Mac! I wouldn't mind spending an extra 20 bucks for it. Just plz keep the simplicity, keep everything as it is! I've spent too much money on Mac apps which are too difficult to use... They seem to be focused more on competing with each other than making an app that actually help get some work done efficiently without the need of tutorials....

  • CAD Drafting on the go!

This app is designed for people somewhat familiar with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. It's a terrific app with all the basic features you will need to draft or create notes in the field. An example: Download the Google Earth App, screen shot a top view area of interest on your iPad, import the image into iDesign, and trace the building footprint. You can then add notes, mark it up, draft design changes or simply determine where you are placing new features. You also have snapping features to very tight tolerances, so precision drawing is easy to do. I highly recommend this app for a variety of applications. No need to look for other apps.

  • Good lightweight CAD app

Bought the app and several hours later I had created a plan view of a structure I want to build, complete with a background image of the site. I was able to do a floor joist layout quickly and easily too.

Dimensions of objects within a drawing are exact, however when you print there is some distortion. Relationships between printed objects are correct - include a reference scale if you intend to work from a print.

Overall, easily worth the price, considering the functionality and ease of use.

  • Good app, almost there...

This is one of the better apps for vector based design work (product renderings, illustrations, technical drawing etc. that I have used. Much better than Inkpad! Doesn't have as much functionality as Intaglio but the UI is just as good, plus it's a lot cheaper. With a few simple adds, this would be great!

The pen tool is very well done allowing masterful control of your lines. Very nice UI for editing handles etc. as you go, kudos to the developers on that one!

The layout is clear and optimized for iPad (unlike Inkpad which just tries to replicate the look of Illustrator, badly), plus lots of great line editing tools!

    Please please please add...

    BASICS
    Align (center, top, left, etc.)
    Distribute (horiz, vertical etc.)
OR, allow objects to snap to their centers instead of the shape edge.
Allow images to be placed like a shape on a layer and be scalable/rotatable. Full layer images are pretty limiting.
    Dropbox import for images.
    Dropbox export of files.

    REALLY NICE TO HAVE's
    Path offset, specific distances.
    Turn strokes into outlines.
    Outlines from.
    Intersect, combine etc.
    Gradient fills, multiple color.

    Thanks!

  • Most CAD like Drawing Available

This app provides true entity based drawings - with object snap features, and properties editing, which allow you to make a truely precision drawing.

If it isn't explicit in the user manual - the key to using object snap with the iPad type screen is to draw the object to arbitrary dimensions in a blank area - then move the object into position. This way the snap location (indicated by little red Xs) isn't obscured by your finger.

As with other brand, professional, CAD programs - the second key to using this software is editing the object's geometric properties. Don't worry about creating the exact size of an object - just draw it approximate - move it to location as described above - then adjust the size using the edit box.

If all of this sounds too complicated - then you don't really want the precision this app offers. It is the closest thing to CAD on the iPad that I have found.

There are a few things the app will need to make it great - but it will get there quickly. I've sent my wish list to the developers.

One last thing I would be willing to pay more for: dimensioning - with the same snap precision - but must include intersections and centers for object snap. That would make this app more than great.

  • Very Impressed

I just purchased your iDesign product and I have to say I am very impressed. I do some graphics work as part of my work, your software was intuitive and very similar to other full featured programs I use. I felt like I had been using the software for years. I really like the ease at manipulating points on an object. I may want to get rid of my mouse on my PC now that I can use my fingers to work my magic. I don't know what the original app looked like, but with only what i see as a minor update you must have started with a very strong app. I am sure you are constantly working on up dates and I would like to add my suggestions for future updates.
1- Labels for the icons (within, over or under would help beginners alot)
2- Patterned fills like cross hatching, strips, dots, etc.
3- Gradiant fills (I know this takes a lot of memory, but...)
4- welding, trims, and union of objects
    5- shadowing

Very Professional - Keep up the great work!!!

  • good app, but needs import options

After using this app to develop design concepts while traveling I find that the app works pretty well once I learned the tools. I have one major wishlist for this app - It would be very helpful to be able to import files preferably from Dropbox or also via email. I imagine I will rarely start and finish a design on the ipad (at least for now) although it is a great tool to work on this while traveling. I would like to be able to import svg or pdf formats and continue developing these with iDesign. Then export these out and continue working on them elswhere. That is my big with here.
