  • Pocket-sized museum

Really like it. Totally worth the money!
I agree with the other comment posted regarding the downloading of works. Would be nice to know how many painting are there in a collection. Although I have never had to wait 30 min for a download.
  • Fantastic study resource

I'm a graduate student in art history and am studying for my comprehensive exam, and Art Authority has been a huge help in augmenting the piles of books I'm reading in preparation for the exam. I use it in conjunction with the standard art history texts, in order to provide a more in-depth look at the variety of works of a single artist, rather than relying on it to present survey-level information. It gives me a better context for seeing the differences between artists working in similar styles, which is often not apparent in the survey texts due to space constraints. For me, this was definitely $10 well spent and I plan on continuing to use Art Authority in developing lecture material.

  • Love it

I don't agree with the review above. In my view the app is worth the I vestment and gives a wonderful opportunity to learn more about art history, and there are are links to Wikipedia where anyone can read more about artists, if they wish.

The review above is absolutely unfair. GREAT application, I highly recommend it, and my friends were impressed when I was showing them what the app can do.

  • WAY TOO SLOW!

This app is a great idea, to be able to browse great works of art on your iPad and in the comfort of your home... but it is PAINFULLY SLOW, making it a pain to look up anything at all...

I really regret buying this app! PLEASE FIX THIS MAJOR ISSUE!
  • Magnifique!!!

  • Disappointed.

Considering this app means to present many number of masterpieces, the app's design is even more disappointing. Interface is slow and very inconvenient. It is nearly frustrating. It does not have any information for each art work on its own, and only source it has is Wikipedia link. Well, I didn't pay ten bucks just to look at Wikipedia locked inside the horrible interface. At least I wish developer could improve the interface more lucrative. Since I can look most of pictures here with safari only, I don't even know why I bought this app. Once again, make it more convenient at least please.

  • A bit disappointing, but there is still nothing like it around there

For what it is, I think it’s overpriced. You might as well just get the list of artists and Google them. Under certain WiFi connections, it cannot download the paintings from the internet, even if it’s still able to connect to Wikipedia. Quality of the images also varies, from ok (it does not claim to be HD) to not very good (their website explains the issue with contemporary artists). Depending of the connection, it can also crash quite often. What I do is, after loading a few paintings, I quit the app and enter it again, so at least it keeps those paintings in the cache (when it crashes, it loses all the paintings that I have seen in that session). But, since there does not seem to be any other apps that aim to do what this one claims to do, you don’t have much choice.

  • Nice Art App

Anyone who is interested in art should seriously consider this App. Art Authority has a good range of work on a wide variety of artists through many periods. I particularly like to put on a slide show of a chosen artist while listening to a playlist.
  • Canadian Artists

Wonderful selection of paintings, although it would be nice to see more Canadian artist included.
  • Awesome

This is a great app for anyone who is into art, history, art history, or just loves art. Even though it crashes sometimes, with what it is trying to do, and what it gives you for art and artists, and the organization, you can live with it. The graphics are amazing, you can save pictures, look up individual artists, explore specific time periods and types of art, even get a general overview of time periods. GET IT!
