  • Good training mode

I am a beginner and i really like the training mode. It gives you the best-good-ok plays to make and a head up on the opposite move. It helps me start to see the game more than just a couple of moves ahead. Would be great to get some explanations or openings but it is free. I would watch ads for extra content.

  • Chess Game Review

Chess game vs the computer at various level makes it competitive. Going backwards allows you to determine where you went wrong. Getting suggestions when unable to see how best proceed is nice.
  • Excellent Zero Ads Free App

This is an excellent chess app I’ve been playing for years. Literally, never been interrupted by an ad. The difficulty level is perfect. very challenging, sometimes very very challenging. But beatable. I’ve been playing for 55 years, and I would say I win an appropriate amount of time against a smart computer- maybe one out of 10-20 depending on my focus level.

  • Have enjoyed this chess app for years

I'm not an expert chess player, far from it. But when I need a break, this is one of three apps that has stood the test of time and I always enjoy playing.
  • FINALLY, A GREAT APP ON CHESS.

I’m in my 50’s and haven’t played chess since my dad taught me when I was about 9 or 10. It as just what I needed! STOP paying attention to those who will find fault in everything. If you are an excellent player, you don’t need anything. If you never played before and don’t even know the names of the pieces or how they move, this MAY be too advanced for you. But for most of the others who know what the difference between a Pawn and a Bishop and who know or have a vague idea what CASTLING is, get this app. You can change levels of difficulty, get a hint if you’re not sure, and MUCH, MUCH MORE.

  • Fun and entertaining

Fun to play serious games. Easy to learn how to improve performance. I like playing while I’m traveling as passenger aboard airline flights. The ability to backup and reverse play choices and follow different decision paths give tremendous insight into how development occurs. Great way to entertain oneself while also being able to engage others.

  • Pretty good chess app!

So far it’s great. My only criticism is that in learning mode, it shows you the best moves to make, but it doesn’t explain why. Sometimes I can figure out why, but an explanation would be a great learning tool for the times I can’t figure it out.

Lots of great stuff in this app!
  • So far so good.

Only just started playing it. Only improvement I would like so far is an option to change the pieces sound from a light click to more of a heavy sound, like a weighted piece, like on Shredder. Also, would like the option to change the man’s ‘check’ voice to a gruffer, old Eastern European accent.
Update: bought the app and played it for the evening, really love this app. Once you purchase the adds disappear and the board increases in size a little more. Also found the Isle of Lewis set can be made a semi/2d which is really nice.
So just some more sound options and I would be delighted.

  • Loving it, worth the purchase

I’m loving the app so far. I don’t have a great deal of experience to compare towards other similar apps, but I feel like it suits my needs perfectly and I love that I was able to purchase it vs. having to subscribe to something or make repeated micro-transactions to remain relevant.
  • Improve your game

Playing this game constantly will improve your game. I’ve learned openings and have been able to see traps developing, which now I try against my opponents. Before I just played reckless chess!! I love taking the train now to play...Sike.. I live in New York City and the trains are crazy right now!!! Play 5 chess games a day and push yourself.
