Great app but why subscription?
This is a great app, I need to spend more time with it to discover everything it can do, but as far as I can tell it’s just a simple, powerful tool for identifying chords when your noodling on guitar or piano (or any instrument that can play a chord) I’d love it if the app also gave information about common chord progressions for the chord you are playing, so that if you hit on an obscure minor chord, then identify it with the app, the app could also offer commonly associated chords. This would make it an incredible tool for songwriting. It would also be cool if you could then click on the chord shapes/intervals for these progressions, to learn how to play them, as often if you hit on an obscure chord, the associated chords & progressions will be pretty rarified too. I think the app offers the notes in the scale of the chord you’ve played, which will help musicians improvise, but associated chords would be great too. It would also be good if you could save chords (and progressions) to a particular project rather than just under favourites. Then songwriters could save their noodled tunes and developing ideas for songs & solos there, rather than saving everything under one generic heading “favourites”. If you have several song ideas on the go, things can get a bit muddled with just one folder to save ideas.
These would be major ‘in app’ developments, especially since the app caters for all chord based instruments, so there’ might be alot of research involved in finding the chord shapes of progressions across so many instruments. But since the app chargesa monthly/annual fee (not sure why - seems a bit exploitative) perhaps it’s possible. Anyway, a great start but four stars because it’s a subscription app yet is fairly simple. Maybe another developer will come out with a similar app for a much fairer price. Why is everything subscription now?

Hi thanks for all your great feedback! It will help me in planning future versions. Please note that the monthly/annual subscriptions are just options. The app has a free tier that functions with just the stringed instrument (guitar) which covers a large % of users. Also it has a "lifetime" purchase option for those that do not like subscriptions. The lifetime IAP gives you all future updates without ever having to pay again. Why subscriptions? For me as an independent developer it helps me to gain some stability in the app's income, allows me to justify time to work on it to add new features, etc, and build towards a future where this can be my full-time business.
Great support too
I had a glitch with Reverse Chord Finder right when I needed it (nothing like the threat of not having this app to realise how much I like it!) but I emailed the app support and had a very fast response and resolution. This service is what tips the great apps over to next level - and this is a great app!

first ever second review?
I believe this is the first time I've ever been drawn to write a second review, but I have to do it: I love this app like a new puppy, or an unexpected vacation, or a run on a sunny day. If you are an aspiring musician, how can you not have this app?
This afternoon I'm tackling a tough piece of piano music, and I'm seeing its chord structure (in the left hand) easily and with clarity, thanks to this nifty little app. I used to have to leaf through a heavy book. But now I can learn much faster and with much less hassle.
If I could save only two of my apps from a burning computer, this is one of the two I'd lasso and pull to safety. And no, I don't work for the company. I merely love the company's delightful product. It's making me stronger every time I learn from it.

I got this reverse chord finder app as a bundle with SongSheetPro. They are both superb best in class in my opinion.
Great app
This is super easy to use with my ukulele. I really like that it offers three choices for names of chords. This is especially helpful when playing with other instrumentalists as uke chords are frequently incomplete.
Very Helpful
Every now and again I’ll fudge a chord that works but not sure of its name. This app solves the mystery.

How the hell you input open notes ? Deleted it 2 minutes after I downloaded it .
