Flight radar 24
This is the best app I can ever be using because I can now check if there is a plane coming over my house which is very useful thanks to the team who made this wonderful app
Great app but needs a UI Update
I have had this app for the past 2 to 4 years and I absolutely love it unlike the other reviews which say your being ripped off or ads that has not happened to me at all this app is amazing, but the UI and interfaces need updating the UI Currently is amazing but could get better there could be more information such as gate numbers, delay reasons and other thing but the UI should be a bit smoother like Plane Finder if that could be updated this would be even better. I find this app and its information quite good better than other apps but less or I said earlier I could get a better cleaner and smoother UI like Plane Finders. This app is better than Plane Finder In many ways but Plane Finders UI Is a notch better. There could also be more information like the amount of information Flighty gives

It is a wonderful app when you have family travelling- I enjoy tracking them especially when they arrive at large airports

Made clunky by ad integration.
Excellent app but hurt by the lack of a clean ability to close ads when they finished. Appreciate gotta have them if u only have the free version but frequently have to close down the app and start again.

The bugs that I mentioned in my earlier review have been fixed. It took a while for the developer to fix the AR bug so I only gave my updated review four stars.
I’ve used the app for years. I started with the free version. I moved up to Silver after a couple years but stopped using it when AR stopped working. That bug has since been fixed.
I am now a Gold user. This is app has no equal. If only they would fix bugs more quickly, it would easily be a Five-star app.

They say that they will respond within five days (which is a ridiculously long time), but I never got a response. Everything was fine for several years. Then, they did an update a few months ago and AR stopped working. That’s the one feature that separated Flightradar24 from the competition. It is also a feature that I used daily. 😡
UPDATE 23 September 2023 The developer left a response to my review. I did everything the developer suggested, including reinstalling the app. AR STILL DOES NOT WORK! Also, when I reinstalled the app, I was charged for it again!! It opened in the free mode but I have a subscription. When I tried to reactivate my subscription, I was charged again! 😡

Too many filters?
Every time I hear a plane or helicopter fly by (I live near an airport) I bring up this app, to see…nothing, except for the airliner at FL3x0 way above me, not the helo I just heard fly by. Then I go to ADS-B exchange to see what it really was. Worthless app. Too many filters, apparently. The developer’s response missed my point entirely. I understand the need for filters beyond their control. Obviously the filters I’m referring to are not beyond your control when I can compare your app sided by side with info available on your competitors site (mentioned above), and they show it while you don’t. Your competition only shows info available free to the public, already filtered, as long as it’s squawking and not FAA-filtered. But you don’t. Also, Why would an aircraft need to be in your database to be displayed? The info as to callsign and type is still being broadcast, as evidenced by your competitor, so it should be displayed. Thanks for the generic auto-response though, it, along with your admission that you further filter returns than necessary convinced me that my rating is correct.
July 22, 2024 update. Literally watching an aircraft fly on ADS-B exchange right now, over the US, which, when I type in the N-number, shows up as in your database, even has a picture of the 767, with “no flights found” displayed. Do better.

Flight Radar information
Such an excellent service to be able to track friends & family especially when you are doing pickups & it allows you time to get to the airport without having to wait to long
Incomplete tracking when it does manage.
Paid for version I unsubscribed last year. I told them it was poor before I left them but useless. Either no tracking of local flights or only part. Start or land somewhere random, then next tracking as a different flight starting later. Pretty annoying when you are flying the aircraft. Free version is constant ads. I just looked now and Candy Crush filled screen and you couldn’t get out. Deleted app entirely now.
Just had response from Flight Radar saying sometimes ground receivers go offline temp or permanently. Poor tracking for at least 18 months, often only part flights showing. Have offered to host receiver but turned down. Flight Aware have no trouble tracking all flights but as US based have less granular information about individual aircraft, admittedly without paid for service.

Hi, ground and low altitude coverage (which includes landings and take-offs) depend on different factors, such as the number of nearby receivers, terrain, weather, etc. We constantly increase coverage in all parts of the world, but it is also possible that some receivers go temporarily or permanently offline. Flight radar really helps keep track of flights that I am on and for those I am not ( when waiting for people to arrive )

Irresponsible & Mediocre
I have had this app for a few years now. When it first came out, it was the best of the three top flight tracker apps. It was so because the app combined flight GPS beacon-equipped aircraft tracking as well as radar tracking for those aircraft that was either not equipped with these beacons or those which the pilot chose not to activate their beacon or whom turned off their unique ID so they could fly around without anyone knowing who they are. That is, after all, how the app got its name. Over the last year there have been more and more aircraft flying nearby that do not show up on this app. About the only thing that does anymore is commercial airliners and many, but not all, private single engine prop planes. Bottom line, this app has devolved into a waste of money.
Why irresponsible? It is clear that the app owner has decided to shift away from a priority of providing a service to the subscriber for a fee to a business model that is little more than a means of selling the subscriber out to anyone who will pay for their app to be used for data mining, largely Google & Facebook. I do not appreciate being used and my privacy being grossly invaded. It is sickening to see app owners lower themselves to crawl in the Google and facebook gutter of slime. I give it two stars only because it does track some aircraft and has some nice features coupled with that. It’s just too bad that they went to the dark side.
