  • It was good while it lasted

I feel like 2019 was the peak of Instagram and it’s been down hill ever since and has never been able to cover. It was fun, views, follows and likes were achieved if you tagged, used hashtags and posted often. Instagram was my No. 1 app (keyword was) now, it’s near impossible for your content to get out no matter what. Even if you follow everything they ask of you, nothing works. Big accounts are having a hard time, let alone small accounts. It’s mainly ads, I never see anything from people I actually follow just random ads from pages I don’t follow and nobody sees mine. It’s easy to get views, likes, shares, follows on all other platform except Instagram. Instead of fixing that, that come up with pointless updates that I never notice and rarely if ever use. I loved answering comments, commenting on other people for encouragement but because the app has been going downhill whats they point? And don’t get me started on the CEO gaslighting everyone saying “it’s not us it’s you”. Now I barely come on to Instagram, maybe post once or twice, answer a few messages and I go back to my other platforms because content is much for successful than it’ll ever be on Instagram. Some people have already given up and I’m close to it. I just post to post because it’s there but it’s not a app I run to anymore. It was nice while it lasted 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • Love and hate relationship

As much as I love this app, the recent updates and process to eliminate scammers and hackers is not going as well as expected. My old account has gotten hacked and most of my followers has reported that account as i made a new account to keep updated with my friends from here and abroad while still maintaining my social platforms for my aspiring career I in acting and modeling. Though I understand the community guidelines, I do dislike my main account not having that much suspicious activity besides my growing following, and constantly getting suspended with later emails from Instagram saying that they have made a mistake. This mistake shouldn’t be constant (especially the “mistake” happening at least 6 times in less than a month or two) and the instagram support should have live people rather than bots take a look at these actions to determine whether an account should be suspended or not. This being said, my accounts have been suspended for nearly close to 24 hours and there is minimal to no direct explanation with what I did for that day to deserve this. Instagram, your platform connects my other platforms as well, please take down those accounts who are more reported at the given moment versus those who have proved themselves innocent with proof and evidence and taking them down with the only explanation being that they “violated community guidelines”.

  • Needs remove reels feature

Please for the love of god add a feature able to remove reels from your app. I understand the corporate greed and all that (trying to have users addicted to your app) but I think it would all do some good if we were able to use this app and have the option to remove reels, especially considering it is such a negative place.

The comments are just filled with slurs, r*pe threats, pdphilia jokes and more and it fosters such a damaging environment. Memes have circulated around it on how terrible instagram reel comment sections are and it’s true! It isn’t healthy to be exposed to that all the time, especially due to the addictive nature of short form content. It also is rotting my sleep schedule and this sort of fast enacting dopamine preys on my ADHD and I’m sure many alike have this experience. I would absolutely rate the app so much higher if we just had the option to remove reels but that seems highly unlikely, but I’d really love if so.

Instagram should be its own app in where you can share what you’re doing and catch up with friends quickly, viewing their images and such. Where you can find small businesses through posts and indulge in posted art and music. It shouldn’t be a secondary TikTok and a worse one at that. It’s really sad to see another app take to short form content to glue their users to their screens. Please add a feature to remove it 🙏
